Nikon continues its big February 10 announcement event with the introduction of the Coolpix P610 and Coolpix L840 bridge cameras that offer superzoom lenses.

After inviting photographers to capture photos of the universe and to go on extreme adventures, Nikon is now offering photographers the chance to “get closer to every detail” without taking a step further. The brand new Coolpix P610 and Coolpix L840 are a couple of bridge cameras which come packed with 60x optical zoom and 38x optical zoom lenses, respectively.

Nikon has added a 60x optical zoom lens into the Coolpix P610, which employs Vibration Reduction technology in order to make sure that photos turn out blur-free even at the telephoto end. Additionally, a 2x digital zoom is available, too, in order to account for a total of 120x zoom. The lens offers a 35mm focal length equivalent of 24-1440mm and a maximum aperture of f/3.3-6.5.

This is a camera with a bridge-like design that features a built-in electronic viewfinder, so that users can frame their shots like a professional photographer.

Nikon Coolpix P610 features a 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch-type CMOS sensor which captures full HD videos and up to 7fps in continuous shooting mode.

Nikon Coolpix P610 features an integrated electronic viewfinder on the back, so users can properly frame their shots.

This bridge shooter will assist users in their travels as well as in their creative journeys, as it employs a time-lapse feature, macro mode, and multiple effects.

WiFi, NFC, and GPS are built into the P610, so that they can transfer files to a smartphone and geo-tag their photos. On the back, a fully articulated 921,000-dot LCD display can be useful for capturing photos and videos from awkward angles or even selfies.

The company will release the Coolpix P610 in black and red colors for a price of $499.95. It is available for pre-order at Amazon.

Nikon Coolpix L840 can be considered a stripped down version of the Coolpix P610, as it features smaller zooming capabilities and it comes without a built-in viewfinder among others.

Nevertheless, the L840 features a similar 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch image sensor and it can shoot full HD videos as well as capture up to 7.4fps in continuous shooting mode.

Just like the P610, the L840 features a maximum ISO of 6,400, while offering macro support and built-in WiFi and GPS.

The Nikon Coolpix L840 bridge camera features a 38x optical zoom lens with a 35mm focal length equivalent of 23-855mm and a maximum aperture of f/3-6.5. In order to reduce blur, the bridge shooter employs lens-shift Vibration Reduction technology.

A 3-inch tilting 921,000-dot LCD screen sits on the back and it will be the users’ only way of framing their photos and videos properly.

When it becomes available in March 2015, the Nikon Coolpix L840 will be released in black and red colors for a price of $299.95. It can be pre-ordered at Amazon right away.
