Nikon has updated three of its DSLR cameras, in order to add support for the Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR lens, while the new Coolpix P7700 update fixes an older bug.

Nikon D700 and D300S DSLRs have been upgraded to a new firmware, along with the D300. All three cameras are now supporting the Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR lens.

The Japanese corporation is doing this on a regular basis, as 10 Coolpix S shooters have recently been updated, along with the Coolpix P7700. The D600 and D800 / D800E DSLRs have also been upgraded to new firmware versions, but this time it is about the D300, D300S, and the D700.

These three cameras do not support the Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR lens, so Nikon has had to do something to please the photographers. The company has delivered three firmware updates, allowing D300, D300S, and the D700 to attach and use the latest Nikkor 800mm f/5.6 lens version with their respective devices.

The changelog is identical to all shooters, but owners should be careful and install the correct version for their device. It is worth noting that the firmware updates are available for download on Windows and Mac OS X computers and that the users will need a formatted SD card to copy the files.

Firmware update A 1.11 / B 1.11 for the D300 can be downloaded at the Nikon official support site, along with the firmware update A 1.02 / B 1.02 for the D300S.

The Nikon D700 is upgradeable to firmware update A 1.04 / B 1.03, in order to add support for the Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR lens.

The Nikon D300 is available for sale at Amazon for a price of $1,763.99, while the D300S can be bought at Amazon for $1,299.99.

The Nikon D700 is an FX-format camera, which is available for a price of $3,499. The Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR lens is available at Amazon for a price of $17,896.95.

Nikon Coolpix P7700 is now upgradeable firmware update 1.2, which fixes a bug when setting the camera to ISO 80 in manual mode.

On the other hand, there is the Nikon Coolpix P7700. The compact camera can be upgraded to firmware update 1.2. The latest version fixes a bug which caused the ISO sensitivity to be set to an amount different from 80, when being set to 80-200, 80-400, and 80-800, with the camera in manual mode with its flash ON.

Nikon Coolpix P7700 users should no longer encounter this bug, if they download the 1.2 firmware at the company’s official website. The P7700 compact camera is available at Amazon for a price of $389.
