Panasonic will not announce an entry-level GH-series mirrorless camera with a Micro Four Thirds image sensor in the near future, although the company will launch a new MILC around Photokina 2014.

Several months have passed since the rumor mill has begun talking about a new Panasonic Micro Four Thirds camera. There have been numerous gossip talks surrounding this subject and there are few chances they will not turn out to be true.

The rumor mill has not managed to reveal what kind of shooter Panasonic will reveal, but it has succeeded in narrowing the options. According to a trusted source, the Japan-based company will not introduce a GH-series mirrorless camera.

Panasonic GH3 will remain on sale for a while as its place will not be taken by a lower-end GH-series camera. It appears that the most likely candidate for a Panasonic MFT camera is a GM-series shooter.

No new Panasonic GH camera scheduled to become official around Photokina 2014

The information comes from a source who is said to be highly-trusted therefore we can rule out a new Panasonic GH camera for now.

It appears that the Japanese corporation’s business strategy is different. There is no point in releasing a low-end GH-series Micro Four Thirds shooter, as photographers can already opt for one.

The price of the GH3 has decreased after the release of the high-end GH4, says 43rumors, so MFT fans can opt for this model, which is available for about $1,100 at Amazon.

There are voices saying that there would still be enough room under the GH3, but it does not seem like Panasonic agrees with them, therefore a camera in another series will be launched sometime in the neighboring future.

Panasonic’s upcoming Micro Four Thirds camera is probably a “GM” model

The Photokina 2014 is very close and everybody in the digital imaging sector will join the mid-September event. Panasonic will not miss this opportunity and will launch a new mirrorless camera, as previously speculated.

It is said that the company has put the “GF” and “G” series of shooters on hold this year, meaning that we will also not be seeing such new models being unveiled by the end of 2014.

There have been similar talks about the GX-series, too, so we are left with the entry-level “GM” line-up. The GM1 is one of the smallest and lightest interchangeable cameras in the world and sales have been going really well, according to Panasonic.

As a result, its lineage may be continued around this year’s Photokina. We are still waiting for a confirmation, so you will have to stay tuned to see if this is the case. Meanwhile, the GM1 can be purchased at Amazon for about $570.
