The Olympus lens roadmap for 2014-2015 has been confirmed in the company’s earnings call for the first quarter of the 2015 fiscal year, which ended on June 30.

There is no secret that Olympus is planning to introduce new PRO-series lenses for mirrorless cameras adopting the Micro Four Thirds mount and sensor format.

The next PRO model to come on the market appears to be the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO, whose development was revealed during the fall of 2013.

An exact release date has not been provided, nor the date for a proper announcement. If the latter is expected to take place sometime before the Photokina 2014, the former has allegedly been scheduled for late 2014.

Olympus 2014-2015 PRO lens roadmap confirmed in the company’s Q1 2015 earnings report

Olympus has recently revealed its Q1 2015 earnings report. The call has been posted online and it refers to the first quarter of the 2015 fiscal year, which began on April 1, 2014 and ended on June 30, 2014.

The document detailing the financial results also includes the Olympus 2014-2015 PRO lens roadmap. According to the company, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO lens will be launched sometime in the second half of the 2015 fiscal year.

This means that the optic is coming sometime in late 2014 or early 2015. The 2H of the FY2015 begins on September 1, 2014 and ends on March 31, 2015.

Sources have pointed out that this product will be released by the end of this year, so we can expect the 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO lens to become available later in 2014.

Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO and 300mm f/4 PRO lenses definitely coming on the market in 2015

On the other hand, the next two PRO optics are coming in the 2016 fiscal year. This means that the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO and the 300mm f/4 PRO will be released on the market sometime after April 1, 2015, as previously rumored.

The former will provide a 35mm equivalent of 14-28mm, while the latter will offer a full frame equivalent of 600mm. As usual, specs and price ranges have not been disclosed, so we can expect the optics to be very expensive.

The 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO is available for around $900 at Amazon. Furthermore, the rumor mill is claiming that the 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO will retail for a price between $1,200 and $1,300.

Unfortunately, the earnings call does not include any details about the alleged 9mm f/1.8 or f/2.8 lens. This means that you will have to stay tuned to find out more information!
