The Olympus 300mm f/4 PRO lens release date is rumored to have been scheduled for November 15, more than 18 months after the company has officially confirmed its development.

Olympus announced the development of a 300mm f/4 PRO telephoto prime lens at the CP+ 2014 event alongside a 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO wide-angle zoom optic.

While the wide-angle optic is said to begin shipping this summer, it appears that the telephoto model will become available later this year.

According to the rumor mill, the Olympus 300mm f/4 PRO lens release date is set for November 15, whereas the price details are still unknown for the time being.

The Micro Four Thirds line-up is not the most fruitful when it comes to the telephoto end. However, Olympus and Panasonic have confirmed that they will make amends in the future and that more units will be released.

One of the upcoming products has already been confirmed. The rumor mill is claiming that the Olympus 300mm f/4 PRO lens release date is now set for November 15. By the time this product becomes available on the market, more than 18 months would have passed since its official confirmation.

The Japan-based manufacturer introduced the 300mm f/4 PRO telephoto prime lens at CP+ 2014, which took place in February 2014. The product will offer a 35mm focal length equivalent of 600mm when mounted on Micro Four Thirds cameras.

7-14mm f/2.8 and 8mm f/1.8 PRO-series lenses coming this summer

Before the release of the 300mm f/4 PRO telephoto optic, Olympus is planning to begin shipping two other lenses: the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO and 8mm f/1.8 PRO. The former has been revealed alongside the 300mm f/4 version, while the latter became official before the CP+ 2015 event alongside the OM-D E-M5 Mark II camera.

At this year’s edition of the CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show, the company has said that the 8mm f/1.8 version will become available in stores sometime this summer. The rumor mill says that both the 8mm f/1.8 and 7-14mm f/2.8 will be released in late July or early August.

The 7-14mm will provide a 35mm equivalent of 14-28mm, while the 8mm will provide an equivalent of 16mm. Their prices have not been disclosed for the time being, so we will have to wait until Olympus makes an official statement.
