Olympus has registered the name of the entry-level E-M10 Mark II mirrorless camera with a Micro Four Thirds sensor on the website of a wireless certification agency, sparking rumors that the device is coming soon.

The OM-D series was introduced in 2012 courtesy of the Olympus E-M5. The Japan-based company announced one OM-D model per year, such as the E-M5 in 2012, E-M1 in 2013, E-M10 in 2014, and the E-M5 Mark II in 2015.

Judging by this, the next model should be the E-M1 Mark II and should be unveiled in 2016. However, the next OM-D mirrorless camera with a Micro Four Thirds sensor might be the Olympus E-M10 Mark II, as the device has just been registered on the website of Postel, an Indonesian radio certification agency.

Olympus has registered the OM-D E-M10 Mark II camera on Postel’s website, sparking rumors that the device will be unveiled soon.

Olympus E-M10 Mark II’s name shows up on Indonesian agency website

Postel is an Indonesian agency where digital imaging companies usually register their products before releasing them on the local market. The products, registered for the Indonesian market, also end up being available in the rest of the world, so Postel’s website is a good place to look out for unannounced products.

The latest unreleased device to be leaked on Postel’s site consists of the Olympus E-M10 Mark II, which is not expected to show up until early 2017. The next OM-D model was supposed to be the flagship E-M1 Mark II, but it seems like the company has other plans.

The Micro Four Thirds camera was registered on July 2, 2015. On several occasions we have seen shooters launched shortly after their registration date, so we should not rule the possibility of seeing this device in the near future.

E-M10 Mark II set to come out before the E-M1 Mark II

The filing reveals only a few details about the Olympus E-M10 Mark II, such as the fact that the mirrorless camera with a Micro Four Thirds sensor will be made in Vietnam.

It is said that the product will enter mass production during the third quarter of the year. This means that the manufacturing process will begin in July, August, or September, so the announcement event will definitely take place by the end of Q3 2015.

Since this is Postel we are talking about, the E-M10 Mark II will come packed with built-in WiFi. This connectivity tool is also available in the current generation.

These are all the details for now. The price of the Olympus E-M10 is still around $600 at Amazon, so we will look out for a price reduction, as it is usually an indication that a product is nearing the end of its life. Stay tuned!
