Jessica Gladys, a MCP customer, went through something so many of us do…. having a love one diagnosed with cancer. Rather than sit back, she decided to document the experience through photographs — and to help illustrate her mom’s journey.  So many have come forward with stories about themselves or those they love fighting cancer, since the release in 2007 of our Cancer Awareness Photoshop action (which is FREE here). The stories range from sad to depressing, hopeful to inspiring.

These photos below in Jessica’s documentary were edited with the Free Cancer Awareness Photoshop action.

Here’s Jessica’s mom’s story and how she documented it.  We hope this inspires some of you to do the same.

My mom received a phone call from her doctor saying the results from her surgery indicate she has cancer.

We met with the team of doctors and nurses just days later to go over the diagnoses and treatment options. We didn’t know what to ask or where to begin even, but it wouldn’t have mattered anyways because no matter what the answers to our questions were it still doesn’t prepare you for what you’re about to experience.

Although I googled to find answers, there were few answers and most varied, which in the end wasn’t helpful.  In looking for a way to cope with my mom’s diagnosis, I decided to photograph her journey. It’s my way of dealing with this illness, and hopefully this will help others do the same. Taking these pictures helps during this emotional time. It help me realize that I was not alone. I can share these images and friends, relatives and even strangers experience the journey with us from viewing the photographs. They’re not living it but they are  seeing it first hand with their own eyes.
