Panasonic is rumored to hold a major product launch event by the end of next week and sources are reporting that the Lumix GX8 will be included on the list of announcements.

The gossip mill has recently claimed that Panasonic will hold an announcement event this summer in order to introduce a few new products. The Lumix FZ300 bridge camera and the 1500mm f/2.8 telephoto prime lens have been mentioned, while the Lumix GX8 has been slated for a September unveiling.

It seems like there has been a change of plans. Although the event will take place in July, as initially reported, it will also include the aforementioned mirrorless camera with a Micro Four Thirds sensor that will replace the Lumix GX7. Moreover, the announcement is scheduled to take place by the end of next week, most likely on July 15 or 16.

Panasonic to hold a major product launch event on July 15 or 16

Multiple insiders are reporting that Panasonic is preparing a major announcement next week. As stated above, the most likely days for the event are July 15 and July 16, so expect to see the new stuff toward the end of the week.

There are at least three new products waiting to be unveiled. The list includes the Lumix GX8 mirrorless camera, Lumix FZ300 bridge camera, and the 150mm f/2.8 telephoto lens. All three are considered high-profile products, so it will be interesting to see what they have to offer.

Panasonic GX8 will feature a new 16-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor capable of recording 4K videos. Additionally, it will come packed with built-in WiFi capabilities and an integrated viewfinder.

Panasonic FZ300 is rumored to employ a Micro Four Thirds sensor, unlike the FZ1000 which has a 1-inch-type sensor. The digital camera will have a zoom lens offering a 35mm focal length equivalent of 24-200mm and a maximum aperture of f/1.8-4. Its specs list will also offer a fully-articulated touchscreen and a high-resolution electronic viewfinder on the back.

On the other hand, the 150mm f/2.8 prime optic is just one of the telephoto lenses long-expected by Micro Four Thirds users. It will offer a 35mm equivalent of 300mm and it will be weathersealed, so wildlife photographers can keep taking photos in adverse conditions.

More details might be leaked before the event, so stay tuned to Camyx for more!
