Panasonic announced a new action camera at the NAB Show 2015 event. The model is HX-A1 and it consists of a rugged, compact, wearable action cam that can record full HD videos.

The National Association of Broadcasters Show is not all about high-end broadcasting or filmmaking gear. This event is also known for being the perfect ground for announcing gear aimed at sports photographers and videographers. The 2015 edition housed the introduction of an ultra-lightweight and ultra-compact action camera from Panasonic. It is called HX-A1 and it continues the company’s legacy of wearable camcorders by offering the ability to “see in the dark” thanks to an infrared lighting system.

Panasonic HX-A1 is a wearable camera that is resistant to water, shocks, dust, and more.

Compact and lightweight Panasonic HX-A1 is a full HD recording action camera

Panasonic HX-A1 is a rugged action camera that is waterproof to depths down to 1.5 meters / 5 feet, freezeproof to temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius / 14 degrees Fahrenheit, shockproof from 1.5 meters / 5 feet drops, and dustproof.

Its ruggedness comes despite its size and weight, as this is a tiny wearable camera that weighs only 45 grams. Moreover, it is capable of capturing full HD videos at 30fps as well as 1280 x 720p videos at 60fps.

The company says that the HX-A1 can shoot slow-motion movies as well. The frame rate can reach 120fps, while the resolution stands at 848 x 480 pixels, which can be useful for capturing all the movements of speedy objects.

Although they are packed in a small device, these features are not unheard of, so Panasonic has decided to add even more. The company invites adventurers to see in the dark using the amazing night modes of the camera. The HX-A1 uses an infrared light, allowing videographers to capture footage in poorly lit environments.

The infrared light makes it possible to record videos in dark caves or at night regardless of the environment. A zero-Lux night mode is perfect for those who do not want to put an end to their adventures when the night comes by making sure that the camera captures everything that happens in front of them.

Panasonic HX-A1 comes with built-in WiFi and it can send live footage to a smartphone or tablet. This means that you can use it as your personal lantern and navigation device.

The action cam will be released sometime in mid-May 2015 for a price of $199.99. It is already available for pre-order from B&H PhotoVideo.
