Panasonic will introduce a new entry-level MFC camera soon and the Lumix GM5 might be the one getting replaced.

Panasonic will follow a similar path, as the Japanese manufacturer will introduce another entry-level Micro Four Thirds camera in the near future. According to the rumor mill, this “near future” consists of sometime within one month.

The device has not been named, but we can look at speculations and previous rumors. They are telling us that the Lumix GM7 mirrorless camera is coming in early spring. Since the coincidence would be too big, this shooter is in pole-position for the next launch event.

The Lumix GM5 has been unveiled at the Photokina 2014 show and some people claim that now is the right time to be replaced. It has replaced the Lumix GM1 in order offer a built-in electronic viewfinder, fully-electronic shutter, a hot-shoe, and Focus Peaking support.

Panasonic’s GM5 remains the world’s tiniest interchangeable lens camera that features an integrated viewfinder. If the GM7 is indeed the upcoming entry-level Micro Four Thirds camera, then it will likely keep its EVF. However, we are curious to see if the device can get even smaller.

Premium lens coming alongside Panasonic’s new mirrorless camera

In addition to its low-end shooter, Panasonic will reveal a new lens for the Micro Four Thirds mount. Contrary to the camera, the optic will be a premium product, meaning that it will be placed on top of the line.

There are no details about the focal length or maximum aperture for the time being. It may also be a Leica-branded lens, but sources have simply been unable to reveal such information.

We believe that the rumor mill will provide more tidbits in the near future, so it would be wise to keep an eye on Camyx. We will let you know as soon as something new surfaces on the web!
