Panasonic has released firmware update 1.1 for two of its cameras, DMC-SZ5 and DMC-SZ9, and has announced that the GH3 will receive its share by the end of March.

If we were to judge Panasonic for its actions, then we would have said that March will be the company’s “update month”. The Japanese manufacturer has released a firmware update for two cameras, while four other updates are scheduled to become available for download by the end of the month.

Panasonic SZ5 and SZ9 firmware update 1.1 brings few changes

Both the Panasonic SZ5 and SZ9 firmware updates find themselves at version 1.1. The changelog is nearly identical, as it contains two modifications for the former and one modification for the latter.

The company confirms that it has addressed a few issues of the SZ5 with computers connected to a Workgroup environment. Additionally, firmware update 1.1 allows PC users to enter their computer name while connecting via WiFi. This bug fix is also available for SZ9 users.

The Panasonic firmware update 1.1 can be downloaded on DMC-SZ5, respectively DMC-SZ9 right now for both Mac OS X and Windows computers.

Panasonic GH3 firmware update coming soon

The Panasonic Lumix GH3 will receive a software update soon. The company promises that the upgrade will become available for download by the end of March.

Lumix GH3 users will benefit from multiple changes, including the common fix addressed for the SZ5 and SZ9 cameras, meaning that the users of the GH3 compact camera will be allowed to enter their computer name while connecting via WiFi.

However, Panasonic announced that the GH3 will feature improved video and general performance.

The changelog says that the Panasonic GH3 camera will be able to provide enhanced video capturing, better performance in burst mode, and improved autofocus.

With the help of the upcoming firmware update, photographers will be able to record MP4 videos in full HD 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second and a bitrate of 28Mbps.

In order to make use of the changes, three lenses will receive a firmware update as well. The soon-to-be-upgradeable lenses are Lumix G VARIO 45-150mm/F4.0-5.6, Lumix G X VARIO PZ 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6, and Lumix G X VARIO PZ 45-175mm/F4.0-5.6.
