Ricoh has taken the decision of updating the Pentax K-mount lens roadmap for late 2013 and early 2014 by adding several new optics into the mix.

After purchasing Pentax, many people had feared that Ricoh will blow it and mark the death of K-mount DSLRs and lenses. However, this could not have been farther from the truth as the two brands seem to get along very well.

The updated Pentax K-mount lens roadmap for 2013 and later confirms the upcoming 12-28mm DA, 18-85mm DA, 24-38mm DA Limited, and 120-380mm DA lenses. (Click to make it larger).

Ricoh has just launched five Pentax HD DA Limited lenses

Recently, Ricoh has introduced five new lens replacements. The list includes the HD DA Limited 15mm, 21mm, 35mm, 40mm, and 70mm optics.

All of them were already available on the market, but without the HD treatment, which consists of a couple of coatings meant to improve quality and reduce optical flaws, such as ghosting. They will go on sale by the end of this year at various prices.

A pair of weathersealed flash units have been announced, too. They are bearing the Pentax brand and they are aimed at wearthersealed DSLRs, so that photographers can continue taking shots in the rain or other harsh conditions.

This does not mean that the company is stopping here. Ricoh has just revealed the Pentax K-mount lens roadmap, which confirms that new products are coming soon and they should give photographers a lot more shooting options.

Pentax 12-28mm DA, 24-38mm DA Limited, 18-85 DA, and 120-280mm DA lenses coming soon

According to Ricoh, K-mount photographers will soon have access to the 12-28mm DA wide-angle zoom, 24-38mm DA Limited zoom, 18-85mm DA zoom, and 120-380mm DA telephoto zoom lenses.

Moreover, the company will introduce a DA AF RC 1.4x teleconverter. Users will have to attach the teleconverter between the camera and an optic. As a result, the focal length of the lens in question will be multiplied by 1.4x, taking photographers closer to the action.

Pentax DA AF RC 1.4x teleconverter is the last one in line on the updated roadmap

Canon has announced the EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x earlier this year. It is a lens with a built-in teleconverter, which gives owners the possibility of using the 200-400mm f/4 lens as a 280-560mm f/5.6 one.

The EOS maker is asking for quite a lot of money for this combination. However, the Pentax DA AF RC 1.4x version is a separate from the lens and it should retail for a lot less than that. Stay tuned as more info is coming soon.
