WordPress is one of the best platforms for today’s blogs and websites, yet few use it for photo portfolios. This time, WordPress created a new specialized section, just for the picture-perfect websites.

WordPress, one of the most popular website platform in the world, has revealed its attempt to warm up to photographers. The company behind this service has introduced an easy way that allows shutterbugs to present their portfolios.

The new tool is called Portfolios and it offers multiple themes with many customization options, which will certainly appeal to photographers around the world.

Automattic, WordPress’ parent company, has created a new “Portfolios” page in order to attract the people that work with images: photographers, visual artists, designers, and other folks with a keen eye for all things beautiful.

WordPress Portfolios now available to photographer-webmasters around the world

The site was able to support the builds of portfolio pages, but it lacked the category and standard themes. This shortcoming has been addressed, as WordPress now offers 30 high quality and customizable themes.

They are both premium and free, which is not something that you hear everyday, while boasting a range of options: from changing colors and fonts, to embedding images and audio into the pages. This means an artist can have both a portfolio and a personal blog.

As things stand right now, the customization options are huge in number and they are expected to grow soon. More themes and options should become available should this new business idea were to become successful.

As stated above, the new feature is called Portfolios and it can be easily accessed by anyone. It could be the start of something beautiful, albeit it remains to be seen whether the tool takes off or not. Artists will decide that, while we are curious to see what other features will be added by WordPress to this system in the future.

If you are a starter, you can get a free domain with “.wordpress.com” address link. Besides this, there are also some nifty and good looking free themes that could make your personal portfolio stand out. Of course, there are always paid themes and, for an extra $30/year subscription, you are given access to the CSS and more “in-depth” customization.

Automattic.com is the creator of WordPress.com, a free publishing and blogging site. It is based on the open source WordPress platform on the premise that anyone can start publishing for free. More than 16.7% of Alexa Internet‘s “top 1 million” websites use the WordPress platform.
