The Felt-Pen Sketch Photoshop Action really is that simple!
The first image on the left is the original photo. Image in the middle shows how the photo looked after we brushed over the subject, and image on the right is the effect that action created!
This is the advanced and realistic sketch effect that action created in just a few minutes! And as we have mentioned previously, the action creates fully layered and editable results so you can further adjust the sketch look.
Here is how the layers panel looks after the action has finished and after we have customized the effect.
As you can see from the image above, the whole sketch effect is arranged into a several sketch folders. And each of these sketch folders is fully layered for maximum customizing capabilities.
Customizing the Effect
The action creates fully layered results with a lot of options for customizing. To make customizing fun and easy, we’ve made sure that all layers and folders are named, grouped, and organized appropriately and also color coded to create a clean working environment for you.
And we’ve also made a detailed video tutorial demonstrating:
- How to prepare your photo before you use the action for best results
- How to load the action and assets
- How to use the action
- How each layer works and how to customize the effects to get the most out of the effect, and achieve desired results
Here are a few powerful customization tips to get you started:
Above each of the sketch folders there is a separate color fill layer that is made for changing the color of the sketch folder below it. That gives you capability to make each of the sketch folders a different color. All you have to do is to double click on the color box of the color fill layer whose color you want to change, choose the color using “Color Picker” and click “OK.”
If you would like to change the color of the overall sketch into some other single color, then just double click on the color box of the “Overall_Sketch_Color” color fill layer, choose the color using “Color Picker” and click “OK.”
If you would like the overall sketch to be in the original photo colors, then simply turn on layer “Original_Photo_Colors.”
Get Unlimited Results
The action is made so that each time you run it, you’ll get a unique result … even if you use the same brushed area!
So, after the action is finished, if you delete the ‘Felt-Pen Sketch’ folder, and just play the action again, you will get a unique sketch effect. This let’s you create unlimited number of results!
Hide Some Layers/Folders
Now we’re going to demonstrate one more interesting customization tip using the example below.
Open some of the sketch folders and hide some layers inside, or hide even the whole folder. We have hidden two layers from the ‘Subject Sketch’ folder and got a new, cool sketch style!
