The actions work in Photoshop (English versions) CS3, CS4, CS5, CS6, CC, CC 2015.5, CC 2017+. If you are using another language in Photoshop, you need to change it to English to play the action and then you can change it back to your native language.
Watch Marko demonstrate how easy it is to use this Photoshop action and overlay set:
How It Works
Just do the following:
- Go to File -> Open, choose your photo and click “Open” to open a photo to work with.
- Open the “Special Effect Actions” actions folder, choose the “Add Overlay” action and click on “Play button.”
The action will then ask you to choose the overlay that you want to use. After you select it, choose “Place” and position the overlay where you’d like it. Then just hit “Enter” and the action will continue to work. The action will place and blend the overlay to your photo and will also create adjustment layers that you can use to adjust the brightness and color of the overlay. If you want to add more overlays, just play this action again as many times with as many overlays you want to add.
It’s really that simple!
You can then use other actions from the folder to further customize and build the design. Please watch the video tutorial for a demonstration of these steps and customizing techniques.
How is it done?
Now we are going to show you which overlays we used for several of our examples.
On the left side you can find the original photo and below you can find all the overlays used for this example. The photo on the right is the final effect that we have achieved using these overlays, some of the included actions and then customizing the effect.
Here is how the layers panel looks for this example:
