Samyang 12mm f/2 NCS CS lens has become official for mirrorless cameras and Micro Four Thirds.

The South Korean company is saying that its new product is aimed at providing a solution for photographers who want a wide angle of view in combination with a bright aperture.

The Samyang 12mm f/2 NCS CS lens will be perfect for taking photos in low-light environments. Interiors and landscapes will all look great through the large aperture, says the company’s press release.

Having an f/2 aperture is not something that wide-angle optics usually provide, but this new lens will cut down the amount of time photographers have to spend while taking pictures at night.

This is the company’s nano-crystal coated lens

The internal design of the Samyang 12mm f/2 NCS CS lens consists of 12 elements divided into 10 groups with one aspherical element, one hybrid aspherical element, and three ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) elements.

The optic does not feature autofocus, just like all Samyang lenses. Instead, users will have to focus manually. As for its minimum focusing distance it is worth noting that it stands at 20 centimeters.

Samyang confirms that this is its second lens to feature a nano-crystal anti-reflection coating system that cuts down reflections and other optical flaws, while enhancing optical quality.

The Korean maker will release its 12mm f/2 wide-angle lens in multiple mount versions.

Canon EF-M, Sony E-mount, Fujifilm X-mount, Samsung NX-mount, and Micro Four Thirds cameras will all be compatible with the lens, although users will have to be careful to purchase the correct model for their respective mounts.

On mirrorless cameras with APS-C image sensors, the new 12mm f/2 NCS CS will offer a 35mm equivalent of 18mm. When mounting it on Micro Four Thirds systems, it will provide a 35mm equivalent of 24mm.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not mentioned a price, nor a release date. However, this information will become official soon therefore we advise you to stay tuned to find out!
