Every hobbyist and professional photographer with a d-SLR needs a way to carry his or her gear. I love using my Shootsac while taking pictures to hold extra lenses and extra “stuff.”  It holds your lenses and a flash while you carry your camera and do what you are best at – taking pictures!

The winner of this contest will get a newly redesigned Shootsac lens bag + choice of any one cover, subject to availability. I have had a Shootsac for years, and just got the newest version.  It is even better than before – it has wider pockets so it easily fits my Canon 70-200 2.8 and it has swivel hooks so you don’t get tangled.  I love the stylish new covers, but since I have a LOT of covers, the best news is that my older covers fit my new bag.

Usually I would pick one of the exotic destinations I dream of visiting someday like Thailand or Bhutan, but in the past few days there have been many photos and stories about my home state, Montana, and the fires they are having. I would want to snap my fingers and be on location for one of those fires. I would bring my 5D Mark ii with EF 24-105mm IS lens, my new Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM Standard & Medium Telephoto Lens and because I have always wanted to play with a fisheye lens I would take this opportunity to try one.

I grew up in and around London and have been in California for the past 17 years. I miss home so much, especially the city. Since I’ve been gone I’ve been married, become a mother, and now a photographer. So, I would love to take my camera, alone (sorry, I love my daughter but she’s 3 and won’t stand still long enough for a good shot) back to London, to try and capture some images of the London I know, love, and remember, for the walls around my house – to bring a little bit of “home” back with me.I would bring my Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 lens for some beautiful wide angles of cityscapes and historic architecture, a 70-200mm 2.8 for lurking on city streets and capturing more photojournalistic shots, and my 24-70mm 2.8 for everything inbetween. I think that would cover the full spectrum!I LIKE MCP on Facebook. Love me some Jodi!

Interesting choice, only one hour. I’d go to Jellyfish Lake, Palau. I’d need only a 28mm and a underwater camera case. http://pinterest.com/pin/140174607121390875/ Alright, but somewhere on the surface, with a Shootsac and more lenses.. Petra, Jordan. http://pinterest.com/pin/140174607121390857/And the lenses: 28 mm (just because the 24mm is too large), 35mm and perhaps 50mm.

  227. Heather on June 27, 2012 at 12:53 pm

If I could visit anywhere for one hour, I’d want to visit the Cyclades Islands in Greece, to capture the beautiful coastline, water, and fascinating villages. I’d want to have a fish eye wide angle lens, a 24-70mm f/2.8 and my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.

  229. Michelle on June 27, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Have been a fan of yrs for a while… If I could go anywhere, I would love to Machu Pichu, Peru. It’s the first thing that popped into my head when I read the question. My mom was born in Peru and has been to Machu Pichu. Everyone says it is So magical. I love that I could be where people took such strength, intelligence, and endurance to build a home in a location as mesmerizing as the mountains of Peru. And lived quite well for so long. It’s kind of like the pyramids. We are surrounded by technologies that do everything for us that to go there, be back to basics… Although if I could have my technology with me… My camera and three favorite lens’ (50mm 1.2, 70-200 2.8, and 24-70 2.8) I would be the happiest girl in the world. However for this trip I would probably sneak in a fish eye and a macro. To be in Machu Pichu and not have EVERYTHING with you would be a shame hahahah.

Let’s see, anywhere in the world? Well, I’m not sure this counts but I’d like to do a True Blood themed trash the dress session in a a crumbly old southern graveyard, like St Louis Number One or the First Baptist Churchyard in Charleston. I’d take my workhorse Nikkor 70-200 2.8, my 27-70 2.8, and a lensbaby 🙂 All on my not-yet-purchased D800. I like Shootsac and MCP on Facebook already 🙂

I would love to go back to Cuba. We went on our honeymoon in 2003 and I brought an old film Pentax camera with the back door held together with duct tape and velcro. I took a few good shots that I showed in a small gallery but I still dream of the missed opportunities I had to capture the true culture of the people. I now shoot Nikon and I would love to bring a 50mm 1.4, 24-70mm 2.8, and a 70-200mm… I think I would be covered 😉

  245. Margie Visnick on June 27, 2012 at 1:08 pm

Oh that’s tricky to make it only for an hour….hmmm….if I only had an hour I would go some place like South Africa or India and just photograph people in their environments. I think that would be super interesting. I would take with me a 50mm 1.2, 70-200 2.8 for the people, and a 16-35 2.8 so I could still get some good wide angle shots of the surroundings. Thanks for making me think! And I’ve already liked you and your post on fb.

If I could go anywhere in the world I would love to go to Japan. I was born there and my mom’s whole side of her family is there. We moved to the US when I was about 5 so I don’t remember much and haven’t been able to go back since. I would love to go, even it was just for an hour so I could see and photograph my family and the beautiful island of Okinawa. Awesome. I was just dreaming out loud the other day about how I would love to go to Ireland. I couldn’t dream of going without my Cannon 5D Mark ii (of course I wouldn’t mind if it was a 5D Mark iii :). And I do believe it would be the 24-70mm that would be a must to come along. Along with the 70-200mm and a macro lens. One of my friends actually happens to be going to Ireland this week and I am sooo beyond jealous!

In my dreams, I’d go back to my younger son’s birth country. We’d meet his birth mother and she’d see just what a beautiful, smart, charismatic boy he is. I’d be a fly on the wall, taking pics with my 24-70, some detail shots with an 85 1.2, and maybe a 70-200 in case I have room to back up. I know this is all in my head because even if such a meeting ever could occur, I wouldn’t want to ruin the tenderness of the occasion by playing paparazzi. I just wish she could see how wonderful he is and I wish I could freeze the look of amazement I imagine she’d have on her face when she sees him again after 5 years.

If I could go anywhere in the world, it would be to Paris. I took 9 years of French in school and was fluent by the time I finished high school, but I never had a chance to travel anywhere I actually needed to be able to speak it! I would bring an 85mm, for great portrait shots in front of the Eiffel Tower. I’d also bring a 24-70mm for wide angle shots of the city. Then last but not least I’d bring a zoom, maybe a 300mm so I can go up the Tower and take shots of different landmarks (The Louvre, The Arc de Triomphe, etc) right from there. It would be awesome! Thanks for the chance to win!

  301. Tara Harrison on June 27, 2012 at 2:02 pm

If I could go anywhere in the world to shoot something it would be the east coast, like Boston or New England with my family. I love the green and beautiful buildings that I see in other people’s photos and I would love the texture and story they would add to my monthly family pictures that I take of my girls. My favorite lenses are my nifty 50, my 24mm that I inherited from my grandpa and my dream lens the 70-200. It is the last lens on my wish list….until I purchase it and then I’m sure to start drooling over another. 😉

I love colors, textures, motion… so I think I’d like to go to come place like Morocco and take a 28-300mm lens so I’m ready for anything, a macro lens for some close-ups of anything that might strike me, and a fun lens like a tilt-shift because I’m itching to play a little!

  400. Rebecca Weaver on June 27, 2012 at 7:31 pm

Today I think I’ll pick the Swiss Alps. And I’ll go with my 100mm macro lens, a 24-105 which I don’t have, and a super-wide-angle – the 14mm, while I’m dreaming. Unless I get a new camera, too… then I might need to rethink the lens selection. 🙂

I have found myself more interested in floral & fauna lately, and visiting Yellowstone last year, and not having the 400mm telephoto was disappointing.

Imagine if you could go anywhere in the world for just one hour, by magically snapping your fingers. In this “vision” you have your camera, three lens and a Shootsac. What destination would you pick and what three lenses would you bring (and you do not need to currently own them)? That’s nearly impossible to narrow down! The tropics are stunning. I’ve always wanted to see New Zealand, Scotland, and India. But, if I only had an hour? Probably Alaska. I want to see the Northern Lights. I’d take the three lenses I have – while they’re not much, I do know how to use them! That’s more important than fancy, at this stage. I’d take my 50mm, 55-250mm, and 15-85 stock lens.

  522. Anna Hurley on June 30, 2012 at 11:59 am

Oh wow, where would I go? There’s so many places I’d love to visit. I think I’d have to go with Poland, I’ve only been back once since moving to Canada at the age of 6 and would love to see more of it. The lenses I would take with me would be a 50mm f/1.4, a 70-200mm f/2.8 for zoom, and maybe the 100mm f/2.8 macro. Now that’s a dream!! 🙂
