Sony is rumored to hold a product launch event sometime around November 5 in order to announce a few things, including the A68 A-mount camera that will replace the A65.

It has been a long time since Sony made any significant announcements for A-mount photographers. There are plenty of rumors about this series’ demise, but the company says that A-mount is still alive and kicking.

The rumor mill seems to be backing up this thing, as the Sony A68 will reportedly be introduced in the near future as the A65 successor. The product launch event will take place on November 5 or around this date and the camera is believed to have a 24-megapixel APS-C sensor, a trusted source said.

Sony rumored to replace the A65 with the A68 around November 5

There was a time when the gossip mill claimed that Sony will focus on the FE-mount, while only launching high-profile A-mount cameras. It was said that the lower-end A65 will never be replaced. However, now it seems like only half of this allegation is true, as the DSLT camera will be substituted after all.

Sony A65 might be replaced by the A68 at the beginning of November 2015.

Sony A68 will take the place of the A65, while the A58 still remains without a successor. Anyway, the new A68 will be revealed during a special product launch event in early November. The source says that the announcement will occur around November 5, but it would not be a surprise if it were to come exactly on this date.

There are no details concerning one or more new A-mount lenses. However, we could witness the introduction of a new FE-mount lens, as this series continues to drive a lot of cash into the PlayStation maker’s pockets.

Sony A68 specs leaked alongside its specs

Along with information about its launch, the Sony A68 specs and price details have showed up on the web, too. The DSLT will feature a 24-megapixel APS-C sensor, just like its predecessor, albeit it could be a brand new model or the one available in the A77II.

The autofocus system will include 79 points, 19 of them being cross-type. This autofocus system could be the improved model found in the A77II, which employs 79 points, including 15 cross-type ones.

Finally, it is said that the Sony A68 price will stand at $600. It is unclear whether this amount includes a kit lens or not. Either way, stay tuned to Camyx for the official announcement that is set to take place around November 5, as stated above.
