The specifications of the Sony HX90V compact camera replacement have been leaked on the web and they include a stacked image sensor and an autofocus speed of only 0.03 seconds.

In the middle of February 2016 sources have discovered proof of a Sony HX80 compact camera. The pocketable shooter was eventually announced in early March in a category below the HX90V, albeit some people said that it would replace its bigger sibling right before its launch.

As soon as the HX80 was revealed, it became clear that it is not the successor to the HX90V. If more proof is needed, then here is the latest information from the rumor mill: the true heir to the HX90V is coming in late spring or early summer, a trusted source says.

Specs of the Sony HX90V replacement leaked, they include a 0.03-second AF system

The PlayStation maker is working on a new pocketable camera aimed at photographers who enjoy traveling with light gear. The Sony HX90V replacement is on its way and will include a 22.5-megapixel stacked CMOS image sensor.

Sony HX90V’s replacement will feature a 22.5-megapixel stacked sensor with 3-axis image stabilization technology.

The source does not mention whether the sensor is a 1/2.3-inch-type or a 1-inch-type model. A 20-megapixel version of the latter is currently available in cameras such as the RX10 III and RX100 IV, but we have to say that it is unlikely for the HX-series to make the jump to a bigger sensor.

A 3-axis electronic image stabilization technology is said to make its way into the upcoming shooter. It is unclear how it will work, but we will learn as soon as the device becomes official in the coming months.

The source is reporting that the compact camera will feature a hybrid autofocus system. It will allow the Sony HX90V replacement to focus in only 0.03 seconds, which has to be one of the world’s quickest AF systems in a compact camera.

Sony HX90V’s successor will shoot videos at 4K resolution

The aforementioned HX80 compact camera is not capable of recording 4K videos. However, the HX90V successor will be the first in its category to do so. It will be able to capture 4K videos at 30fps.

Moreover, people who cannot make use of 4K technology can choose to record full HD movies at up to 120fps. The specs list ends with the fact that the list of videography capabilities includes a 720p mode at up to 240fps, which means that users can get creative and capture beautiful slow-motion footage.

There are no details regarding the lens. For what it is worth, the existing HX90V has a 30x optical zoom lens. As usual, we are inviting you to keep an eye on Camyx for more information!
