Sony NEX-7n announcement during the NAB Show 2013?

The most likely date is April 6 during the National Association of Broadcasters Show 2013. The event will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The new mirrorless camera will be called Sony NEX-7n. It will serve as a direct replacement for the Sony NEX-7, a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera launched in August 2011.

Sony’s current NEX-7 shooter features a 24.3-megapixel image sensor, full HD video recording at 60 frames per second, ISO range between 100 and 16000, 2.4m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, built-in flash, and a tilting screen on its back.

Major internal changes, but no plans to modify the exterior

The new NEX-7n camera is rumored to feature a brand new 24-megapixel sensor with phase detection technology. According to the source, the new 24MP sensor provides a 1/3 stop better transmission.

Moreover, the new mirrorless shooter has had its “internal circuitry completely redesigned”, in order to prevent overheating. This is a major problem for current NEX-7 users, therefore Sony could not have ignored it.

The camera is also said to feature a new electronic viewfinder which is “amazing”.

For the time being there are no other details regarding the camera. The Sony NEX-7n should be officially announced in early April, therefore more information should surface in the coming weeks.
