Nikon patents hybrid optical and electronic viewfinder

Nikon has filed for a viewfinder switch, which can toggle between optical and electronic viewfinders. The new hybrid viewfinder technology will become available in DSLR cameras soon, as Nikon will try to compete against Fujifilm’ cameras with this feature, such as the flagship X-Pro1 mirrorless shooter.

Broken Night horror movie, filmed with Nikon D800, released online

The Broken Night short horror movie is now available online. Internet users can watch the film, shot entirely with the Nikon D800, but the viewers discretion is advised as the movie is not intended for the faint of heart. The movie has been directed by Guillermo Arriaga, a well-known writer-director, who won the BAFTA Best Screenplay Award.

New Nikon J3 and S1 mirrorless cameras are not using an AA filter

Nikon is not using an anti-aliasing filter in its latest mirrorless cameras, called J3 and S1. The two interchangeable lens cameras, unveiled at CES 2013, are lacking an optical low-pass filter and are using a different technology, which has been introduced for the first time in the big-megapixel Nikon D800E DSLR.
