Win a Tamron 18-270mm Di II VC PZD Lens for Nikon, Canon or Sony dSLR Cameras

The Prize:

The New Tamron 18-270mm Di II VC PZD Lens for Nikon, Canon or Sony dSLR Cameras (Tamron 28-300VC for Nikon or Canon may be substituted if you have a full frame camera)

Details about the lens:

The World’s Lightest, Smallest 15x Zoom: Tamron 18-270mm Di II VC PZD is 24% Smaller than Previous Model!

The acclaimed Tamron 18-270mm VC all-in-one zoom for APS-C format DSLRs has reached an astonishing new level of compactness, performance, and speed with the addition of PZD (PIEZO Drive), an innovative ultrasonic autofocus motor based on an advanced piezoelectric design. The result is a lens that’s considerably lighter, noticeably shorter, with a much slimmer profile than any previous lens in its class, and that provides faster, quieter auto-focusing.

Signature features that have made this amazingly versatile lens the world standard in its class have been retained. They include a 28-419mm equivalent (15X) zoom range, an improved, lightweight, compact Vibration Compensation (VC) system, macro focusing to 19.3 inches throughout, and, of course, superlative imaging performance.

Contest Rules:

As Tamron USA Inc, the sponsor of this contest, is responsible for sales and marketing in the USA only, no shipment to winner can be made outside of the USA. If you reside outside the United States, the Lens will ship to MCP Actions, and we will ship it to you, but you will be responsible for the shipping costs as well as any duties, taxes, or tariffs.

Winner will be picked via random drawing on Monday, February 28th and announced on the MCP Blog.

Just wondering why all of your contests require a facebook account? I do not have a facebook account because I am opposed to it, and I will not sign up for one. That prevents me from entering any of your contests though.

1-It would be great to have just one lens on the camera & ready to go, instead of missing shots because I have to change lenses!2-It varies. 3-Yep, I like on Facebook!

    1. This lens is so hugely versatile. 18-270 would encompass my other lenses thereby eliminating my need to swap lenses and get my camera dirty. I could get in close at sporting events (husband coaches highschool football) and also get the close up shots of the crowds. We do a log ot hiking and this lens would be great for the same thing, close ups and telephoto without the risk of changing lenses. 2. I’m still very amateur at shooting so I’m not sure I have a favorite yet but guessing I would say around 353. liking you now (again)

Additionally, I need this lens, because my current wide, is broken.. Sigh. 2. For normal shooting, I prefer a focal length of 50mm.. That’s not always possible, though. 3. I’ve ‘liked’ you guys on FB for a while, now..

I NEED this lens because I am new to photography…I am finding it necessary to upgrade my camera and am trying to decide between a Canon and Nikon (currently have a Sony). It varies so much from shot to shot, but those are the prime lenses I use the most. With zoom, I don’t always pay attention, just turn until it looks right.3.Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior.I like MCP actions, that’s how I heard about the contest!

Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography? I’ve had my Canon XT since they were brand new on the market to replace my film Canon rebel. I’ve also had the same kit lens (18-55mm) since then. I started a 365 (on day 52) and I’ve fully extended the kit lens (only one I have.) I want to take candid portraits of my kids and not have to worry about having the right lens and missing the moment to change it. I want to take more landscape photos and be able to zoom past the power lines in the way. What is your favorite focal length to shoot? It really depends on the subject. Most of my shots are taken at around 50mm as it gives me the best chance to capture the natural beauty around me as my eye sees it.Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior). —I have “liked” the page already. This is how I found the contest. Thanks.

I have “liked” MCP Actions for awhile.

  70. April on February 21, 2011 at 9:54 am

Need is a strong word. Especially since Pentax wasn’t listed as a body it might work on, so I’d use is as a trade with my brother for his cool lens that he had for is old pentax.I have a ok lens right now, but would always like faster glass. It’s hard to say what focal length I usually work with, cause I do a lot of switching up between closups and far-offs. I generally like to “fill the frame” wherever that ends up.I do “like” you on facebook. and follow on an RSS feed. (maybe overkill, but would hate to miss anything)–cheers.

    1) I have the 18-55 and 75-300, and this would be a great replacement for both of them! 2) I usually like to shoot around 50mm-75mm, but sometimes, with running subjects (toddlers), I need to use 200mm.3) I’m already a fan!

1.Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography?- Such a large focal range, it would lighten my camera bag significantly. I’ve wanted to try a 3rd party brand lens for quite some time and have been shy. I’ve heard good things about tamron lenses as well.2.What is your favorite focal length to shoot?- My favorite focal length right now is 50mm. I find myself often wishing I had a quality zoom lens instead of being forced to move so much or miss shots due to distance.3.Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior)- Definitely Liked.

I would love this lens because it would be great when I shoot weddings. 1. I would really like this lens because for me, this is the most versatile, take along in the car, lens one could want. I owned a Quantaray similar to this one – and I apparently over-used it to the point that it broke. I’ve sinced replaced it with a Canon 24-200 which just doesn’t cut it. My kids swim competitively and I need a go-to lens to shoot close and far quickly!!2. My most constant length is about 50.3. ALREADY “like” you on FB. Thanks for the consideration!! Hope I win!

I am just beginning a venture into photography! I have three active small children and so the budget is SUPER short for great lens like this Tameron model! 1) Our first born is a boy and I can already SEE the great baseball and football pictures! OR the fantastic motions shots of our girls twirling about during dance! I love that it has both a wide angel and a macro focus, it is like having too great lens in one! And the fact that it is light means it won’t weight me down while I am carrying snacks for the three year old, dolls for the five year old, and random animals or bugs for my seven year old son! 2) The best lens I have right now, the one I can always count on, is my Nikkor 50mm f1.8! I LOVE THAT LENS!!3) I am a new “liker” to the MCP action page, but I just used it to download my Fusion action for FREE! Thank you so much! I had never used an action before and your web tutorials made it super easy!!!!!!!!!! This is the first image I used it on, below 🙂

    1. The versatility would be a great convenience. Being able to take one lens with me for such a wide range of distances sounds like a great product. Also, the fact that it has vibration compensation is a MUST. I seriously have issues with my current lens. 2. My favorite is around 50mm 3. Yes, I have ‘liked’ MCP on Facebook

  103. Andrea Thomas on February 21, 2011 at 9:59 am

    1. I need this lens because my walk-around lens is a 28-135mm on a Canon 1.6 crop camera, so I’m missing out on both the wide and zoom ends of the spectrum.2. 50mm (so actually 80mm with the crop factor)3. I already “like” MCP Actions on Facebook

    1. I would love to have a “walk-around” lens for vacations and stuff like that. Also, I only have a 50 prime so I’d love to be able to zoom to 200mm!2. My favorite length is 50, because that’s all I own at the moment.3. I am a Facebook fan!

  106. Heather steffen on February 21, 2011 at 10:00 am

Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography? I have only the stock lenses that came with my Nikon. I would love to have this new lens as it would be perfect! I love to shoot weddings but it is so hard to keep flipping lenses to get that perfect shot! This lens would be awesome!I love to shoot at all different focal lengths but I think that 50 seems to be my most used. I have had the “like” MCP Actions on Facebook for a few weeks now. I check the page often.

  107. Elaine Carter on February 21, 2011 at 10:00 am

What a wonderful giveaway. I would love this lens. I just sold my tamoron zoom without VC in hopes to get one with VC. It would help me in so many ways. My kids are starting tball and the zoom will come in handy. Not to mention when I backup shoot at weddings. Right now 50mm is probably my favorite. Been a fan on fb for a long time.

  108. Elli on February 21, 2011 at 10:00 am

I have now added MCP Actions blog to my reader – how had I missed that before? I’ve been reading this blog for a long time!

  109. Heidi Lawson on February 21, 2011 at 10:00 am

    1. I don’t own a single zoom lens. Only primes. With my full-frame camera I would be going for the 28-300 lens, and the thought of that type of range is far too exciting. This would be the perfect addition to my little lens family :).2. I primarily shoot at a focal length of 50mm on a full frame camera, which is equivalent to 35mm for most dSLR cameras.3. Yes, I am a fan :). I linked to this post direct from your fb page.

    1. I need this lens because it has such a nice range of focal lengths and it is so light. It would be awesome to be able to carry one lens that does so much instead of a whole bag of lenses. It is a lens that I could use for my studio work, and my outdoor photography. And I’ve been needing a zoom lens for awhile now!2. At the moment, my favorite focal length is 50mm.3. I have liked you for awhile now. 🙂

  112. Jodie on February 21, 2011 at 10:01 am

    1. I currently have a f/2.8 70-200mm Tamron for my Nikon and love it. I do mainly equine/pet photography and would love to be able to have such a wide range to choose from with a 18-270mm lens. That extra 70mm would be great when I’m at horse shows and need to get just a bit closer. Or the 18mm would be great to take in the entire scene at a show.2. Whatever works best for the subject. 🙂 At horse shows, I’m normally shooting closer to 200mm unless the horse is a bit closer up and then I love the great sharpness of around 100mm.3. I not only “like” MCP actions on FB, I love it!

  113. Michelle Kersey on February 21, 2011 at 10:01 am

    1. I need this lens as I only have the 18-55mmkit (which I never use)and a 50mm 1.4. I NEED a zoom lens, I miss out on many outdoor shots by not having a zoom lens. This lens will help me grow as a photographer by allowing me to move closer without physically moving closer! 2. 50mm, it’s very natural. 3. I “like” MCP for sure! 😀

  114. Lissa on February 21, 2011 at 10:01 am

    1. I would like this lens because of the wide range it covers. I could do it all with one lens rather than having to switch lens’ all the time.2. Right now, I mainly use 50mm.3. I like MCP actions on Facebook 🙂

    1. I *need* this lens because I have three boys that I am always chasing around. The 15x zoom in addition to the Piezo Drive and Vibration Compensation would throw down on some awesome boy images. 2. My fave focal length is 50mm, but I am dying to try wider. 3. Been “liking” MCP Actions for a while now. 🙂

    1. I am a recent college graduate looking for jobs in the struggling economy. Needless to say it is very time consuming and discouraging. This lens would increase my versatility as a shooter and help me land clients to start a freelance business. Also, I am new to the Tamron brand, and this would be a fantastic introduction to try their well reviewed products. 2. My favorite focal length to shoot with at this moment is 50 mm 1.8. I find the bokeh and extreme depth of field give an intimate portrait no matter what you are taking a picture of. 3.I follow on twitter and Facebook.

    1. I would LOVE to have this lens for the ease and convenience of carrying just 1 lens. This lens has so many of my favorite focal lengths all wrapped up in 1 little package. There would be less frequent lens changes keeping more dust out of my camera.2. My favorite focal length to shoot is 50mm.3. I have liked you on facebook for a while now.

    1. I NEED this lens because of shots like the one below, if I had this lens, it would have been a stellar shot – but with nothing more than a kit lens, I just couldn’t get the shot I wanted. I live in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, and opportunities for landscape and nature photography surround me and I need this lens to capture those shots! 2. I don’t really have a favorite focal length to shoot right now, since all I have is my kit lens and I am just getting started. 3. I am already a HUGE fan of MCP on facebook!

  134. Marilyn C. on February 21, 2011 at 10:04 am

#1.) I need this Lens because I have found something I am so passionate about (photography),but do not have the means to take it to the next level just yet. I am recent college grad that has not had any luck in the job search due to a sub-par economy. Since I can not acquire a job or enough money for a fancy lens, I have just been practicing with my standard 18-55 mm lens that came with my Canon that I worked vigorously for. I know $700 for a camera may not seem like much to a professional, but it was a fortune for me and I am so proud to say that it is one of my most valuable belongings. I would love more than anything to have a more advanced lens to do what I love the most.#2.)My favorite length to use would be my 18-55mm since that is all I have practiced with.#3.) I have liked the fan page for a little while now and I love reading all about photography 🙂

    1. I LOVE snapping nature and wildlife photos. This lens would keep me ready for most any shot that would come my way without having to waste precious minutes changing my lens and possibly missing a once in a lifetime shot! I’d be ready to snap an awesome close-up of that bald eagle that may surprise me by flying overhead as I’m taking a wide-angle shot down at the river. 2. I honestly don’t have a favorite focal length to shoot at. Another reason I would love this lens. I am constantly zooming in and out to fill the frame with my photo. I guess my fave would be somewhere in the “zoom” category, though.3. I “like” you on Facebook as well. Fun to read your articles through my newsfeed.

    1. I need this lens because I only hace the one basic lens that came with my camera. It will help out because I can learn how to shoot from other distances.2. I like shooting macros.3. I am a friend on fb that is how I found out about this contest!!

  159. Kahla on February 21, 2011 at 10:08 am

    1. I would love this lens because I do not currently have a lens that has that zoom range, therefore it would be very beneficial to have it. I do find myself in situations wishing I had a zoom lens to capture certain scenes or animals!2. My favorite length to shoot right now is 50mm.3. I like love MCP Actions on Facebook! 😉

  160. Paul Singh on February 21, 2011 at 10:09 am

    1) My daughter is at the age now where she runs around in the parks a lot. Being able to take those close ups when shes off playing would be fantastic. There’s only so much i can do with the 18-55mm. So this Telephoto would transform the quality of my shots of her in the outdoors.2) My fav length has to be around 50mm3) Been a FB liker for a long time! 🙂

This is Great!1. I’m breaking into the wedding industry more and would love to have an all-in-one lens that can capture both wide angle and close ups without a lens change. 2. My favorite lengths has to be 18-24, I love the dimensions it creates and the angles it offers. 3. Totally a fan on Facebook.

    1. I “need” this lens because I spend a lot of time outside with my family, which includes my 2-year-old granddaughter and our two basset hounds. I always have my Nikon with me, but I miss shots because my zoom range is too narrow, and there’s not enough time to switch lenses!2. My fav length is around 35.3. I “liked” your fb page months ago – still enjoy it :)4. Your horizon is crooked in your first sample photo, the horizon line goes across the reflection, and not the actual water level – LOL!

    1. Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography? I just purchased a Nikon d7000 and I am trying to acquire more lenses. I need this lens so that I can zoom in at my sons sporting events; basketball and football. I am also very interested in becoming a Sports photographer. 2. What is your favorite focal length to shoot? My favorite focal length to shoot is 18-200 mm. because that is the only lens I have right now. 3. Perfect!2) Fave focal length right now is 50mm on a cropped sensor. 3) I have “liked” MCP on FB for a while now. 🙂

Another great contest from MCP Actions. You guys rock! Why do I need this lens? I shoot mainly sports, from t-ball to adult activities and the flexibility that 18-270 mm provides is essential. Also the VC feature will come in very handy running up and down the sidelines getting set up for that perfect shot.My favorite focal length is probably right around 85mm, that’s where i am able to capture the best action and emotion.I’m a big fan on facebook and have shared the contest on my personal page, my photography page and on my blogspot at MNGPhotography. Thanks!

    1. I would love to have this lens so I could capture kids who are a little on the shy side. It would be great to have a zoom like this to photograph many things, seems like it would be the perfect “walkaround” lens. 2. I have a 50D, so while I love my 85mm lens and use it frequently, it’s a little too “close up” for shooting indoors. I probably would shoot most around 35-50mm. 3. I like MCP actions on fb!

  181. Gini on February 21, 2011 at 10:13 am

    1. I would really like this lens because I actually broke a Quantaray lens 18-270 and replaced it with a Canon 25-200. It is an awesome, take in the car, shoot quickly lens. My kids swim competitively and I need a lens I can shoot near and far quickly. No time to change out lenses.2. My average length is probably 50.3. I am a later in life photographer who started with a aSony 350. I have a unique home business that I’m trying to get started. So many can’t afford quality studio photos. I have a modest sitting fee that includes a CD of 50+ pictures that they have rights. That way, they can get copies made wherever they want or can afford, or just at least have great photos on CD. I’ve upgraded to a Canon to get better shots. I really need another lense..I have only one. I love to be artistic with some shots and enjoy the MCP actions.I also love to take landscape/nature pics to give as gifts. Love macro, 50mm. I have “like” on FB and use MCP actions.

This lens would allow me to photograph everything with out changing lenses. Yeah! And that is why I “need” it.2. I shoot at a lot of focal lengths. Probably 50mm is the most common right now.3.I am your fan on FB and will be again.

My fav focal length is 50mm – don’t have a choice since that is all I can use right now :)3. I have had the “Like” on Facebook.

    1. I currently shoot with a 70-200mm from the 1970’s that does not AF on my camera body… it’s tough to say the least. I would KILL for this lens! The range is incredible. I’m making the switch from Olympus (deciding between Canon and Nikon) and this would be some amazing glass to start off on the right foot.2. I love shooting at, and the compression of 100-200mm… and would literally cry tears of joy to add this lens to my only other “good” glass (50mm 1.4).3. I of course “like” MCP Actions on FB. Thanks for this giveaway!

  214. Vanna on February 21, 2011 at 10:18 am

I have been wanting a new lens that I can stand in one place and get a great close up and a picture of everything in it as well, without having to keep switching my lenses. This would be the perfect lens!! I donno what focal length I like to use since I like to do both up close and zoomed out. I like MCP on FB!

  215. Jonathan on February 21, 2011 at 10:19 am

    1. The lens would enable me to get more shots, have greater focal range, and change my lenses less! I have two lenses, a 17-50mm and 50-150mm, so I have to switch them out to change focal ranges. It would be great to have one lens that covers the entire 18-270mm range, especially for a walk-around lens. I love photography!2. Difficult to determine an absolute favorite focal length, but it would probably be around 35mm.3. Yes, I like you on FB!

  216. Bobbi-Jo G. on February 21, 2011 at 10:19 am

I NEED this lens! I wad just telling my husband how I need a lens that has both wide angle and telephoto capabilities for my outdoor family sessions. When working with small children, you don’t want to waste time switching lenses. I enjoy shooting at 85mm because of the gorgeous bokeh and the flattering portraits it produces. I definitely LOVE MCP on FB!

  217. Shantel Rich on February 21, 2011 at 10:19 am

    1. This would become my carry all lens, I am pretty sure it would be attached more than any of my other lenses because of its versatility.2. I do not have a “favorite” focal length – I shoot all over the place to be honest. This is why this lens would be a great asset to my photography! 🙂

  218. Kate B. on February 21, 2011 at 10:19 am

I would love to win this lens because I am upgrading to a full frame camera and switching to Nikon so I need a lens in this range. I love shooting in the 50mm-85mm range. I have been a fan on FB for awhile!

  238. Cynthia on February 21, 2011 at 10:23 am

    1. Why do I need this lens? LOL! I’m a mother of three kids: 8 , 5 and 5 months. While this lens might not get a ton of “professional” use by me, my kids don’t get a ton of “professional” pictures shot by me either. It’s so much easier to set up and photograph someone else’s. I would love this lens (and it’s next on my to buy list) b/c it would allow to have on at all times and wide and tele lens when I am with my kids. It’s too hard to drag three, or even two lenses with me with three kids. So I end up with less then stellar point and shoot pics or nothing at all. 2) I love to shoot above 85mm. I love the shallow depth of field above that range. I also love to stand back and photograph the “action” in life without be obtrusive. It always make the subject jump off the page.3) And of course I am a FB fan, been since I first found out about you guys a year and half ago!

There are times when I just want to use a camera without changing lenses and this lens would allow me to do that. My favorite focal lengths are 20-30mm or 200-300mm. I “Like” MCP Actions on Facebook!

My replies to the following questions:1. 1.Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography? A- I really “need” this lens as a photographer just starting in my business to expand on the very basic starter equipment I have. And with a very shocking, traumatic life change that has recently happened to me, it’s extremely difficult for me to be able to afford the additional equipment that I “need” & want to be able to expand & improve my potential as a photographer just starting out in the business.2. 2.What is your favorite focal length to shoot? A- I haven’t quite figured out my favorite length to shoot, but 1 favorite that I absolutely love is macro. Also, I would love this Tamron lens so that I have the additional 70mm from my 55-200mm to be able to better shoot the moon.3. I’ve already “Liked” the MCP Actions page on Facebook quite some time ago & am definitely a fan of all the free actions, as well as the informative Blog posts 🙂

    1. Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography?I “need” this lens because I am at the brink of launching my new photography business. I have a growing client basis, an established name, and a decent porfolio. This lens would really be helpful for my trip to Europe in June and a wedding I’m shooting in July. 2. What is your favorite focal length to shoot?I’m sort of obsessed with my 35mm lens. 3. Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior)CONFIRMED!

    1. I currently shoot with a 70-200mm from the 1970’s that does not AF on my camera body. It’s challenging to say the least! I would kill for this lens – talk about versatile. I SO “need” it – what an incredible walkaround lens. Love wide angles for architecture and travel, and 100mm+ for the compression and lovely bokeh in portraits. 2. My “best” glass is a 50mm 1.4 and I do like that prime focal length, but my photography “life” would really change immensely with this Tamron.3. I of course “like” MCP Actions on FB. Thanks for this great giveaway. Someone will be a VERY lucky winner.

I’m starting a new business and the longer length will come in handy.Right now, my favorite focal length to shoot is 50mm. Because that’s my best lens right now :)I’ve been a fan of MCP for awhile but just recently became a fan on facebook.

    1. I travel a lot and see a lot of spectacular places. This lens would be a great lightweight addition to my pack, as my current options are an 18-55mm kit lens and a 50mm prime lens. These are okay but not great options when it comes to trying to get details on sites that are not easily gotten to or are blocked off. 2. Between 100-200mm. 3. facebook.com/meghan.gallagher and I do like MCP actions on fbook!I’m also subscribed to your RSS feed and I have you linked on my photoblog: http://soigetontheroad.tumblr.com/

    1. This lens would make catching those “moments” a lot easier. I feel like I’m constantly having to swap my lenses out, especially since the zoom lens that came with my camera body isn’t all that great. Right now my only good lens is a 50 mm, and a nice solid zoom lens would make things a lot better!2. I love wide angle shots, so probably around 35 mm or lower. This lens would help me out!3. Already a FB fan!

    1. I would love to have this lens b/c of the shooting ranges you get with it. As a newbie just starting my business, I don’t have a bunch of lenses to choose from, and with this lens, it would solve my needs. I love shooting outdoors, and this would be great to get those tighter shots and those that are farther away, say like of children playing in a field, without having to chase them quit so much :)2. As of now, my favorite focal length is probably 50mm.3. I am already a fan on facebook and have been for some time now. Thanks for the chance to win an awesome lens!!!

I only have prime lenses–I desperately need a zoom! I have a 30mm, 50mm, and 85mm, and I end up keeping the 30mm on my D300 pretty much all the time. 1. Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography? I shoot weddings, engagements, childrens sessions, etc and this lens would provide a greater distance to be able to get the shot I need especially in a wedding situation without having to be so close to the subjects and allowing them to have a more intimate moment. 2. What is your favorite focal length to shoot? 50 mm 3. Yes, I like this site on Facebook. That is how I found out about the contest! 🙂

Oops! Speaking of toddlers, he hit the button before I was ready! :)1. I “need” this lens b/c it is just so versatile. It is the best multipurpose lens that exists. The majority of my time is spent chasing a toddler around & it is just too risky to switch between lenses to get that “perfect” shot. I’ve been saving for this lens for so long now…2. My favorite focal length lately has been between 70-90, but I also love the upper range so I can not be “in their face”3. I “like” the FB page, that is how I heard about this amazing giveaway!

  301. Jennifer Bullock on February 21, 2011 at 10:42 am

    1. I think I would particularly love this lens for weddings, especially during the ceremony, as my primary lenses during ceremonies are the 24-70 and the 135mm (I haven’t been able to pocket $$$$ for the 70-200 yet!). But the Tamron 18-270mm could really save me from constantly swapping between the two lenses, and I love it’s range!2. Between 35-50mm is my fave.3. I’ve always been a MCP fan! :)Addtionally, I’ve gladly added the RSS feed, added your link on my blog’s header under my bio, as well as speading the love — as posted here on my blog: http://jenniferbullockphotography.com/Blog/ :o)

Would love to have this lens to allow for more versatility on shoots without having to change lenses…sometimes there just isn’t enough time to switch lenses before missing the shot.My 50mm rarely leaves my camera…especially in winter. With summer coming, kids will be running crazy so it would be great to have a longer lens to capture them even when they are far away!I “like” MCP on facebook.

Hmmm….I don’t know what happened to my 1st comment 🙁 So, here it is again. I apologize in advance if it shows up, and I end up with it posted twice. To answer the 3 Questions;1. Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography? A- As a photographer just getting started out in business, I “need” this new Tamron lens to help me in expanding from my basic starting equipment to help me in being able to improve my photography by having more than just the starter basics. And being that I’ve just very recently gone through an extremely shocking/traumatic life event on top of my disability, it is now going to be very difficult financially for me to be able to expand on my equipment “needs” so that I’m able to offer better quality as a professional photographer.2. What is your favorite focal length to shoot? A- I haven’t quite figured out an exact focal length I like to shoot yet, but I will say that 1 of my absolute loves is macro photography. I would also love the additional 70mm this Tamron lens would give me from my 55-200mm lens so that I’m able to better shoot the moon.3. I’ve already been a “fan” of MCP Actions on Facebook for some time now; enjoying the free actions offered, as well as love the informative blog posts that I’m always reading 🙂

    1. I need this lens because I love that it’s an AIO zoom! When I’m out on location, it’d be great to be able to just have the one lens attached to my camera that covers such a wide zoom range. No need to tote around several lenses and have to worry about swapping them.2. My favorite focal length is about 70mm (crop sensor).3. I like (LOVE!) you on FB!

  326. monica grimes on February 21, 2011 at 10:51 am

    1. I “need” this lens because I would love to be able to shoot that type of range off of one lens.2. Right now I mostly shoot somewhere around 50mm but would really like to practice at 18mm.3. I already “like” MCP and have for awhile now!

  329. Laura Cole on February 21, 2011 at 10:51 am

I really need this lens because right now I’m in the beginning stages of my photography career and only have a 50mm lens. It would give me more options for photographing my clients. I’d lovthe longer focal length so I don’t have to get so close to my clients with my camera! My favorite focal length right now is 50mm, but only because that’s all I know.I’m already a fan of MCP on facebook.

    1. I NEED this lens because I currently only have a 50 mm. I need something to capture my little clients and my own wiggly children without being so “in their face”. This lens will allow me to hang back and capture moments from afar. 2. My favorite focal length is 50mm. Starting to like 35 and 85 too!3. I already “like” you on Facebook!

    1. I “neeed” this lens because as a newly budding photographer, I’m going broke trying to get the equipment I need to build up my business. Having a versatile lens like this would put me one step closer to getting out of my job as a RN (which is killing my back and my sanity) and getting into my dream job as a photographer :)2. My favorite focal length to shoot is 50mm.3. I do, in fact, “LIKE” MCP actions on FB

  336. Maggie Vansickle on February 21, 2011 at 10:55 am

    1. I need this lense because I take quite a few wildlife photos but never seem to be close enough to cqapture the image the way I see it in my mind. I also LOVE taking candid shots of people and with a larger lense I can get the shot without being in the action.2. it really varies depending on the subject3. Definately LIKE on Facebook

I need this lens because I only have the basic one that came with my camera and I can’t afford another one right now. I am trying to learn more about photography, but am pretty new to it. I really want a lens with a longer focal range because I think it would help me catch better candid shots of my daughter and her friends if I didn’t have to get right up in their faces. I guess my favorite focal length is about 18mm because that is what my lens does best right now.I am a facebook fan

    1. I “need” this lens so I don’t have to swap lenses at 55mm. An all in one carry all day lens would make me more productive.2. At the moment my favorite length is 35mm as I’m trying to get used to what a prime lens would be like.3. Definitely like the Facebook page.

    1. this would be a great “walking around” lens to replace my 28-135mm (which I love, but would really appreciate extending that range to require even fewer lens-swaps), especially on my upcoming trip to Argentina next month!!!!!2. depends on the setting/subject….3. “liked” you on FB months ago. ;^)

    1. I need and want this lens because I don’t have any lenses that wide or that long. A mentor of mine, who is a certified, master photographer uses this lens and suggested it to me. She tells me it just about stays on her camera. I think it will probably stay on mine too, you just can’t beat that range. I have a Canon 70-200 but it is so huge to carry around.2. My favorite focal length is 85mm.3. I have “liked” MCP Actions on facebook for a long time!4. I have posted this link on my Facebook.5. I have subscribed to your RSS feed.6. Like many others on here I’m trying to build my photography business in a tough economy and I feel like this lens will give me the versitility to capture those shots I need to take my business to the next level.2. I like to shoot at 50mm as that’s the lens I use most often. I also love shooting wide when I’ve had the opportunity to do so!3. I am a fan of MCP on FB! Have been for a while! 🙂

1: Right now, I have a limited reach with 55mm being my extended focal length. Having this lens would allow me to open up wide or compress images with one lens – it would likely stay on my camera 75% of the time.2. Currently shoot at either 18mm for landscapes or 50mm (prime) with all other shots.3. The Like button has been pushed!

I am 50 yrs. old and would need this lens. Wanted to do photogrphy as a child but we could never afford something like that growing up. SO I finally got myself a nikon D90 and takening classes at the college, and yes Im following my dreams…I love wildlife photography, and this would be great with the grandkids around I could get the best of all world’s…lol 🙂 AS im learning portrait as well I think that it would also be a gret portrait, and close up photography (macro) as well. I guess my favorite focal length would have to be 300 for distance and I could shoot below that range when needed with this lens. I am a fan of you on f/b and love the textures and actions of your’s. I follow you on pioneer woman as well. Thanks for all you do. Pic. attatched. SCREECH OWL : EYES ON ME LOL!!!

I received my first DSLR (the Canon T2i) for Christmas, but I only have the kit lense (18-55). I am looking for a 250mm lense to add to my bag. I actually enjoy 18-55 the most for versatility, but I ‘need’ a 250 to grow my landscape and architectural capabilities. I have subscribed to the RSS feed and have promoted the contest on my Facebook page. Pick me :).

    1. This lens would be great for shooting my kids at the park. I love my 50mm but chasing them around with that to get a photo while they’re playing is going to be very difficult!2. It all depends on what I’m shooting 50-85 is great for portraits, but 400 is much better for birds ;)3. I sure have! That’s how I got here 🙂

  382. Kathy O on February 21, 2011 at 11:10 am

I need this lens because I only have one lens (18-55mm kit lens) right now. I am saving for a new one, but it’s not easy when life gets in the way. I love taking shots of my family with out them knowing, and my current lens just never seems to get close enough.

  383. Kristi on February 21, 2011 at 11:10 am

I currently have a wonderful prime and a super wide lens in my arsenal, this lens would round things out well and open a new way of shooting for me. Plus, so great with the kids outdoors in the spring!I love, love, love shooting at 50mm. Of course that might be because I don’t have a zoom, lol.I am a MCP facebook fan!

    1. I really really need this lens because I just upgraded my camera and I cannot afford to get a zoom lens right now. And I truly need a zoom lens to keep in my arsenal of lenses to capture all the moments of a shoot! Plus I love Tamron lenses – I had several of them with my old Nikon that I sold when I made the switch to Canon. 2. I don’t know that I have a favorite focal length? It depends on what I’m shooting – but I picture myself using this particular lens for sports photography!! 3. Jodi know I’m all over her MCP Actions page on Facebook – not only do I like it – I love it!! And I liked the post about the giveaway!! Hope that fulfills my qualifications?? And as Donkey says – Pick Me Pick Me

This lens would be a great asset not only for my personal interest and love of photography but also for the photography business I work with. Right now its just my friend who started the business and myself. Between the two of us we have only two quality lenses. The 18-270 Tamron lens would help us tremendously as we are going to start wedding season soon! I have a lot of “favorite” lenses but so far the 24-70mm, 2.8 f, has been my favorite. It has a nice range but also that low fstop so I can get some blur in the background. I have already been following MCP Actions on Facebook and love reading the articles & seeing edited pictures!

  391. Katie groves on February 21, 2011 at 11:13 am

    1. I LOVE detail. My greatest wish is to have one lens that would allow me to truly capture the detail of the wonderful nature around me in rural N. Florida. Right now I am limited to a 55mm length. This lens would open a whole new telephoto world for me as nature photographer.2. Right now my favorite shooting length is “AS CLOSE AS I CAN GET”. I love the detail of macro shots that captures far more then the human eye is able to see.3. I love MCP Actions! I discovered it last week and have already downloaded several actions and can’t quit playing with them. What a difference!! i love to shoot around 50mm. i have an 28-70 mm tamron that i LOVE! and i have a 50mm 1.8 that i sort of love but its a manual focus which makes it harder to shoot with running kids. i had a 70-300 that my husband dropped and i cant replace bc he is out of work and his unemployment ran out so we have no extra spending ;( so this would be ammmmmmazing for me!!! totally amazing. i already love love love mcp actions on FB and i subscribed to the feed and i tweeted the contest!

  411. Tami Tripp on February 21, 2011 at 11:20 am

I would love this lens for child and family photography. Capturing an intimate moment between parents in child from afar and then zooming would lead to some fantastic images! My only zoom is the 24-70 so I am lacking a longer zoom on both ends of the spectrum. I think I would love the 18 too! My favorite focal length right now is 50 mm. I love the bokeh I get with the 1.4 and love the low light ability.I like you on facebook, it’s how I found out about the contest.

  412. Shirla Armenta on February 21, 2011 at 11:20 am

    1. This would be an AWESOME lens to win because I don’t have a lens with such capabilities! It would be a huge asset!2. It varies, depending on what I am photographing, but right now I would have to say that the 50mm-60mm range is my fave :-)3. Of course I “like” you on FB! Love MCP actions!!!

1 – I *need* this lens because of it’s versatility. Seriously, to have a lens that can capture almost anything with ONE lens – is perfect. Then I would not have to carry around an arsenal of lens. 2 – my favorite focal length – right now hands down – 50 3 – Already a Fan on Facebook! Booyah!

    1. I don’t have anything over 55mm, so clearly I NEED this lens.2. My best lens is my 50mm 1.4, which means I’m using the 50mm all the time.3. Clearly I love you on Facebook!

    1. This lens is the perfect round-up lens for me to complete my ranges of focal legths. I love zooms for their versatility and this one would be perfect for my landscapes and for photos I’d like to take of my family at our cottage!2. I like 35-50 for my favourite focal lengths3. Yup, I LIKE on Facebook4. I subscribe to your RSS feed5. I posted a link to the contest on my Tumblr blog!:) 🙂

    1. Every time I go out to a place where I plan to get some nice shots, I have to carry two lenses , 18-55 and 70-300 , it is so inconvenient changing lenses in between especially if it’s a scene which is changing like those wonderful sunset moments. I would love to have the Tamron 18-270 which would be such a lovely addition and can replace all the lenses and bag I have to take , I can hook up just one lens and be done with it. 2. I like to shoot at 18-20mm for landscapes and 135mm for people and faces 3. I have already liked MCP actions on Face book.

  426. Erin on February 21, 2011 at 11:23 am

1- I would love this lens because my telephoto lens is broken and I need to get a new one anyway.2- My favorite lens is the 18-553- I have been a fan on facebook for sometime.

There are so many reasons I need this lens. I am in the beginning stages of starting a photo business so more lenses in my arsenal is always a good thing. And having a lens that will hit so many different focal lengths would be even more helpful. Plus I don’t have anything below my 35mm-80mm kit lens. I need a good wide angle.Lately it has been my 50mm. It is my first “nice” lens and I love itOf course I like you on FB!

1.I would really love to have this lens! I just upgraded to a full-frame Canon and in doing so, forfeited the use of my other zoom lens. I’m down to a 50 mm F/1.4 now which is great for portraits, but I miss having a lens that could go from wide to close-up in a second especially when I’m with my kids. And it would be great for family sessions when I need a wider angle, but then want to some close-up work, too.2.My favorite focal length? Probably 50 mm.3.I like MCP actions on FB.

    1. I could really use this lens as I shoot a lot of wedding photography and need a broad zoom range and something fast not to miss that special moment! Sometimes I am up close and personal but sometimes due to the rules of the church I have to be super far away so I could definitely use a much further zoom the 28-75mm I currently use for weddings. Also, the wider angle would help a ton for my indoor studio portraits as my studio is quite limited on space, only about a 11×11 room. 2. It really depends on what I am photographing but I seem to like to hang around 50-75mm, I seem to get the best, crisp, sharp results from that range.3. I already “like” MCP actions on facebook and follow them closely 🙂

  502. Lisa Gutierrez on February 21, 2011 at 11:59 am

1&2. I think the lens would be a fabulous addition to my hobbyist set. I only have the kit and a prime lens and the smoothness of my 35mm means I keep it on my camera about 95% of the time. I think if I had a zoom lens that also had a nice slightly wider focal length, I would use it a lot! Especially with my kids who are always on the go. 3. I like MCP on Facebook (Lisa Gutierrez).

  503. Tommy Botello on February 21, 2011 at 11:59 am

    1. I need it because I recently sold my old gen Non-VC 18-250mm Tamron lens and this would be great to fill in it’s empty spot in my bag.2. My favorite focal length is typically 50mm.3. I already “like” MCP on Facebook. Also, I have signed up to follow the blog through RSS.

    1. I would love to have a lens with so much flexibility, and not have to change back and forth betweeen my “regular” lens and my telephoto lens all of the time. It would be really great on photo shoots, because I like to take some up close and some from further away.2. It depends what I am shooting. Outdoors I typically shoot between 200mm and 300mm and inside I really like the 50mm focal length.3. I do *like* MCP on Facebook

    1. I want to be able to shoot my kids in action and use that same lens to shoot my second wedding in July. I only have the kit lens and a 35mm, this would be the perfect addition, 18-270mm.2. I enjoy shooting around 18-35 for indoors and 50-200 for outdoors.3. I am now a fan of MCP Actions of facebook!!

    1. I would love to win this lens because while I have always been interested in photography as a hobby, I am now starting build a profile and hope to eventually become professional. As we all know, photography equipment is very expensive and I do not have a lens with his capability right now. It would be awesome.2. Right now I tend to use my prime lenses, either 50 mm or 85 mm.3. I like you on Facebook!!

I would love to win this lens!! The main reason is, I just recently got my first DSLR camera…a Canon T1i and I need to start building my lens supply. My favorite shots are Macro [not very familiar with the different “focal lengths” – but I’m learning!]. And I actually “LOVE” MCP Actions on Facebook! Thanks for offering this lens Tamron!!

    1. I would love a lens that has such a huge range. I wouldn’t have to spend the extra time switching out lenses…especially when I’m outside with all that dirt flying around. 2. 50 is my current favorite range. 3. And I absolutely am a fan on Facebook already!Awesome contest, btw! Thanks for the chance!

I *need* this lens because the 15x zoom is so awesome & I’d adore it!My favorite focal length is zoom- I know primes a sharper, but I take 99% of my photo with my zoom & move it around to fit what I need.I’ve long been an MCP fan on facebook! Thanks for the giveaway.

  520. Brandi Long on February 21, 2011 at 12:12 pm

I need this lens due to the fact that both my zoom lens have broke in the last 3 months, and I have a hard time shooting with only my 50mm 1.8. I love to shoot at 85 not to close not to far away.I LOVE MCP actions on Facebook, but there is no button for that. Thanks

    1. I would love the flexibility a zoom like this would offer- allowing me to get close-up, full frame shots while far away. It be be a huge benefit for wedding and family sessions to capture detail without being in a client’s face.2. I usually shoot with a fixed 50 mm or 35 mmI want this lens!

There are many reasons why i would need this lens. Simply by looking at the picture results makes me want it even more. I currently only have two lenses by having this lens it will save me time from having to change lenses because this lens has the perfect focal lengths. I also am starting to photograph children and I know this lens will be perfect for the job and will give me excellent results! My favorite focal length would have to be 55mm.Yes, i have liked mcp actions on facebook and am very grateful to have done so. I also have subscribed to rss feeds!

  534. Laurie LeBlanc on February 21, 2011 at 12:19 pm

1 – I currently own only two lenses, a 50mm and a macro lens and I really, really need a zoom lens. This lens would be a great complement to my prime lenses.2 – Favorite focal length varies between 50mm and 100mm.3 – I have “liked” MCP Actions on facebook for a while now!

  535. Jenn on February 21, 2011 at 12:19 pm

  539. Dave B on February 21, 2011 at 12:22 pm

    1. I need this lens because I don’t have the money to buy it, and it would probably stay on my camera 99% of the time. That, and I sell everyone on what I do buy, so it would be in the best of Tamron’s interests to give me one so I can get others to buy it. (:2. I honestly like every range. I like really wide (11mm) but realistically I use the whole range of every lens I own. That’s why I’d love this lense.3. Yes- I’m a fan on FB and always will be.

  540. Pamela on February 21, 2011 at 12:22 pm

    1. I “need” 🙂 this lens for outdoor portrait photography!2. My favorite focal length is 85mm3. I like MCP on facebook

  541. Michael Karnes on February 21, 2011 at 12:23 pm

    1. I’m a photography enthusiast that is limited with a budget that would not allow me to purchase equipment like this. I’m new to DSLR photography and am teaching myself as much as possible with the assistance of purchased books that pretty much eliminate funds for luxury glass, which may be a staple of other photographers’ everyday kit 2. Right now 50mm (85mm since I purchases a DX)) due to the interest of portraits; however I immensely enjoy landscape photography…experimenting with HDR. 3. Already clicked “like”

  542. sarah on February 21, 2011 at 12:23 pm

Q1: I need this lens because I really do not have a good wide angle zoom! I basically only use my 50mm! I have 2 kids and its getting harder and harder to chase them around with the fixed lens.Q2: My favorite length to shoot is 50mmQ3: Liked you!

  543. Amanda Swehla on February 21, 2011 at 12:24 pm

Why do you “need” this lens/how would it help your photography?A) I have been in the market for a lens like this for my full frame camera for months now… but with all the reviews I have been hesitant to pull the trigger, winning this lens would do it for me. This lens would maximize the strength of my new full frame lens, today I have a fixed 50mm and a 70-300 lens for that camera if I had the versatility of an 18-270 it would change my world! What is your favorite focal length to shoot? – I don’t have a favorite, I love the versitility of a zoom lens. Although I love my fixed focal length lenses I find myself running around like a crazy woman.Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior) – I have “liked” MCP actions on FB – A long time ago. *** – I added the RSS feed to my blog swehlaphotog.blogspot.com*** – Shared this on FB and the contest appears on my blog today

Woohoo! This post sure caught my eye! This new lens recently was added to my wish list of lenses so I was so excited to see this give away. Why do I need this?….It’s an amazing zoom lens….WITH vibration control!!!! When I read about this lens in my photography magazine I was imediately in love and had to add it to the top of my wish list…..just behind the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens. Why that lens….to answer your second question….it’s my favorite focal length! I feel with these two lenses, I’ll have all the coverage that I need and want. I’ve researched a lot and these two are my top choices! It would be AMAZING to win this lens! And to answer your final qusetion….I absolutely “like” MCP Actions on facebook!

This sounds like the perfect lens!2. I usually like to shoot around 70. 3. I have “liked” you for awhile on FB but I’m going now to confirm!

I need this lens for my kids sporting events. I can’t always get close enough and the extra focal length would be amazing!I love to shoot between 50 and 85mm, if I can get close enough. And of course I already like MCP Actions!

  560. Viki Reed on February 21, 2011 at 12:32 pm

I desperately need this lens! I currently have the 24-70 L canon but it won’t give me the bokeh or the distance I really need that this Tamron would give me. I have a 200mmL but that was for bird photos and some action stuff-either way it’s not wide enough and again the Tamron would solve that. I’ve sold all I can and work has been DEAD slow. My family can’t afford another lens but I dearly need it. Please lady luck.Currently my fav lens is my 50mm. I added a shot I took with it. The only thing better would be the 50mmL….someday….

WOW!! I would dieeee with this lens!!!!! I have recently gotten into wedding photography and right now the longest focal length I have is 70mm (24-70mm). This lens would allow me to capture those GREAT moments without being noticed!!!! I think right now my fav focal length would be 50mm….my prime of course. I think that is because that is what I most used to, but I think I would instantly fall in love with the 200mm ;-)WOOO HOOO!!! Great contest! THANKS!I have liked your page for some time! You rock!

  570. Chris on February 21, 2011 at 12:36 pm

I’d love this lens because of the wide reach. I like to take pictures at my husband’s softball games, and having one zoom to cover the range of my two zooms would be terrific!I don’t have a favorite focal length, I like to take pictures of too many different things. And yes, I “like” you on facebook!

  571. Corina Iavarone on February 21, 2011 at 12:36 pm

    1. One can never have too many lenses. Though right now I am working with the kit lens because my 70-200mm telephoto lens broke and we don’t have the money to get it fixed at the moment! And this is the length I have been coveting!!2. It depends on what I am shooting and what mood I am in and what picture idea wants out of my head!!3. 1 – I would love to have a lens as versitile as this, I currently only use a 35mm & while I love the sharpness & fastness of this lens I do oftentimes feel limited without having the option to zoom in/out.2 – My favorite focal length at this point would have to be 35mm since I don’t have other options, but I know I’d love to be able to pull back to 18 at times when shooting indoors & to have the ability to zoom even to 100-150 mm would be great, so the thought of being able to zoom to 270 with this lens is very exciting.3 – I liked MCP actions on Facebook! 🙂
