Details from Tamron USA about this lens:

Setting high-performance DSLRs free with SP engineering, strengthened by F/2.8 maximum aperture advantages and Tamron VC.

The compositional options afforded by the SP 17-50mm F/2.8 Di-II VC’s wide-to-moderate-telephoto zoom characteristics are prized by experienced photographers, rendering a picture angle range approximating a 26-78mm lens on a full frame DSLR or a 35mm SLR. A fast and constant F/2.8 maximum aperture allows cluttered backgrounds to be softly obscured, additional freedom in low-light conditions and added viewfinder brightness. State-of-the art properties, including XR (Extra Refractive Index) and LD (Low Dispersion) glass in an optical formula employing 19 elements and 14 groups—assures sharpness, optimal contrast and breathtaking image fidelity. Its form factor and handling characteristics can be traced to the use of aspherical element design and internal focus. Tamron’s proprietary tri-axial VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization adds to image sharpness and further expands low-light shooting freedom by combating image blur resulting from camera shake. Tri-axial VC addresses the adverse effects of camera shake in three planes making it possible to shoot handheld at as many as four shutter speeds slower than would otherwise be possible.

The Tamron SP designation is reserved for lenses developed with special emphasis on extraordinary photographic performance. Engineers are free to innovate in an uncommon atmosphere where optical performance comes before price, resulting in lenses that satisfy the demands of discerning photographers.

    1. This lens would benefit me because I believe my 60mm is dying and I can not replace it right now2. Favorite focal length is 60mm-I love this lens3. I like MCP on Facebook!

  2. Nicole L on September 14, 2011 at 9:06 am

while 50mm is my FAVORITE focal length to shoot, sometimes having something in the 17-50 range allows for wider shots with out having to move around (which when photographing kids can be HUGE – they move sooo much faster then I do!). This will enable me to get those wider shots a whole lot quicker which would give me more shots to offer my clients! 🙂 And I love MCP- your facebook page is how I stay up to date on your stuff! 😀

  3. Ashley Noble on September 14, 2011 at 9:06 am

This lens would benefit me because this winter I will be shooting a lot of indoor sessions in a very small space. My 50mm 1.4 wont’ let me back up far enough. My fave focal length now is 50mm, because thats the lens I use 99% of the time. Also, I like MCP on facebook. Thanks for the great giveaway!!

  4. Margie on September 14, 2011 at 9:08 am

I would love to own a wide-angle lens and be able to shoot an entire building without standing in the next county! My favorite focal length really varies, but mostly around 50 mm. I love MCP Actions, and already “Like” on facebook!

  5. Kristy Pruet on September 14, 2011 at 9:09 am

I primarily shoot with a 50mm f/1/4 lens for portrait work but would love to add this lens to my collection! I really need a fast zoom when children run out of the 50mm sweet spot. I’m a follower on FB too!

  6. Liz Bartlett on September 14, 2011 at 9:09 am

    1) I think this lens would benefit my photography because I don’t have a fast, wide lens. I’m trying to take more wide angle shots. I do a lot of landscape and portrait photography, and this length zoom with a fixed aperture would be perfect for my outside and inside work. 2) My favorite focal length to shoot is 35-50mm, but I’m trying to shoot wider for something different and some variety.3) I do like MCP Actions on Facebook.

  7. Lindsey on September 14, 2011 at 9:09 am

This lens would be wonderful for taking my photos to the next level since I haven’t yet invested in a slight telephoto lens. I think the quality would be perfect for the types of photos I take (generally with a 50mm but I want something other than a fixed lens).

  8. karen ramos on September 14, 2011 at 9:09 am

I believe that if I had this lens it would be a big aspect for my business. I do a lot of weddings and studio photography and have not been able to afford getting a 2.8 lens. I would be using this lens a lot.right now after having to sale my camera and lens to help my family out when we both got laid off I only have a 18-55 3.5 lens. We did keep one camera so I can keep trying to make money for my family.

  9. Melissa on September 14, 2011 at 9:09 am

    1. This lens, with its f2.8, would be a huge improvement over my current zoom lens, which is f4-5.6. It would allow me to get more shots using available light without increasing the ISO or being forced to use flash. 2. My favorite focal length is currently 50mm, but I think once I buy a 35mm lens that may change. 😉 3. I “like” MCP Actions on Facebook.

  10. Lindsey on September 14, 2011 at 9:09 am

up until recently, the 50mm has been my favorite lens to shoot with but as I said above, there are so many limitations, particularly for travel photography.

  11. Suzanne on September 14, 2011 at 9:09 am

    1. I could use a wide lens…and this would be great!2. I love to shoot at 50mm.3. I *like* MCP Actions on FB.

  12. Jenny on September 14, 2011 at 9:09 am

How would this lens benefit your photography? I think having a wider range of lenses to take different portraits and not using same focal length each and every shoot would be amazing. I think it could help advertise my point of view better as well. What is your favorite focal length to shoot? I love 50mm but occasionally I like shooting at 300mm to make sure my subjects don’t know they’re actually being captured on camera, they tend to act more natural that way. I have been a fan of MCP Actions on Facebook for quite some time now.

  13. John Mark Patrick on September 14, 2011 at 9:10 am

    1. it definitely give me better options in lower light situations.2. my favorite is 50mm, though I’m still learning how to get my 1.8 to focus properly.3. I already like MCP Actions on FB.

  14. Melissa Ives on September 14, 2011 at 9:10 am

I would LOVE to win this lens!!! I just bought the 28-75 and if it were legal to marry a lens (and I wasn’t already married) I would marry this lens! I love shooting wide so this lens is next on my list. Thank you for this awesome giveaway!

  15. Brooke on September 14, 2011 at 9:10 am

    1. How would this lens benefit your photography? This lens would be great in helping me with weddings. To have another lens to choose from would be awesome. That way I would have to keep switching cameras to get the look I want. What is your favorite focal length to shoot? 24-70 is one of my favs. 3. I like MCP on FB!

  16. Christina Alston on September 14, 2011 at 9:10 am

    1. This lens would allow me to shoot wider angles. I’ve been experimenting with this lately and love some of the creative shots I can get. But I usually have to rent a lens. 2. If I had to pick one focal length, I’d choose the 50mm. But I love using my 28-75mm zoom because it’s so versatile.3. I already “like” MCP Actions on Facebook. I get lots of info from the posts and the updates remind me to check the blog. 🙂

  17. Peachy on September 14, 2011 at 9:11 am

Great give away!1. This lens would benefit my photography b/c my favorite lens is a Tamron that has seen too many years of hard work. It desperately needs to be replaced. I only have one other lens and it doesn’t match my Tamron.2. I should primarily with a 28-135 and find that around 35mm is where I shoot most. Must be my fav.3. I am a definite facebook fan!

  18. Kristine Durkin on September 14, 2011 at 9:11 am

How would this lens benefit your photography?~this lens would allow me to learn more….I am still learning all the ins and outs of my camera and the lenses I have, and I love it. What is your favorite focal length to shoot?~Im into my macro right now…not sure why…I think its the bokehConfirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count.~ I love MCP Actions.. 🙂

  19. Julie on September 14, 2011 at 9:11 am

My favorite focal length is 50mm. This lens would benefit me b/c I would be able to be more versatile during shoots without relying on MY speed to back up.I follow MCP on FB and love your site.

  20. Allie B on September 14, 2011 at 9:11 am

How would this lens benefit your photography? I already have the 28-75 mm Tamron and could greatly benefit from having the 17-50mm lens because sometimes I find myself backing all the way up against a wall to take a photograph. So I guess that means I could use a little more focal range. What is your favorite focal length to shoot?I usually find myself liking 35-50mm. but I suppose thats because its within my current focal length abilities! Maybe that would change to 25mm with a new lens =DConfirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior)I like MCP Actions on facebook and I love them on photographs!

  21. Amy Woodell on September 14, 2011 at 9:11 am

I think this lens would benefit my photography greatly in that I shoot on location in a lot of homes and the 50 mm lens I use now is just not great for groups- I love the clarity of this lens but it is just difficult in small spaces. 50 mm is my favorite focal length to shoot at right now. I am currently a fan of MCP actions and I love all your actions as well as your blog. This would be such a blessing to win. Have a great day!

  22. Rachel Demand on September 14, 2011 at 9:12 am

I also LOVE my 50mm, but like others I just don’t have the room to shoot indoors especially if it is a small house! I would love something that will go down to 17mm. This would give me a lot to work with. Right now 50mm is my favorite focal range. I have Love MCP and have been a fan for a while now 🙂 Thanks for this awesome giveaway!!

  23. Kristi on September 14, 2011 at 9:12 am

I also have a 50mm that I use most of the time, my fave focal length. It is frustrating that I have move around more than I like. I would love to have the ability to “move without moving”. I have been frustrated with my current lens, in that I feel like my pics aren’t sharp enough.I already like MCP actions on FB. Girl, I have it bookmarked under my toolbar! I love the articles, and have been researching the archives lately too. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

This lens would let me shoot wider angles without having to stand so far away. I am fairly new to photography and would love to add a new lens to my gear. My favorite focal length to shoot would be 50mm.I also like MCP on facebook

  27. Melissa on September 14, 2011 at 9:13 am

Generally I shoot at 50 mm, but when given the opportunity to win a lens which is 17-50, it would give me more options! As for how would the lens benefit me, well I would have to say that the 2.8 would be a great addition to my two lens which I have now, and accompanied by the VC, it would help to get those fast moving kiddos without a problem! I love MCP on Facebook!!!

  28. dana j on September 14, 2011 at 9:13 am

OH YEA! 1.How would this lens benefit your photography?Baby #3 on the way but the first with a nice DSLR camera!! This would rock to take pics of the new baby!2.What is your favorite focal length to shoot? 35mm3.Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook OMG, YES! How could you NOT be??

    1. I need a new lens so I can have a variety of focal lenths to photograph my 7 kids.2. Right now, I am mainly shooting with my 50mm.3. I already like you on facebook.

  31. Carol Anne on September 14, 2011 at 9:13 am

I just started shooting weddings this year and having the wide 17mm end of this lens would certainly help with group shots, exit shots, and the overall event. Typically 50mm is my fave focal length. I “like” MCP on FB, but I really LOVE MCP on FB. 🙂

  32. Elsie Joyce on September 14, 2011 at 9:13 am

This lens would help my in my studio my room is only 12 by 15 and I am shooting with 50 mm 1.8 but would love to have a tamron lens with more of a wide angle to get the shots I am missing I love shooting at 2.8 for back ground blur and this lens would also help with outdoor shots as well!.I do not have any lense that are wide angle and I have traded in my kit lenses for a 70-200 l series lens and now i HAVE NO MONEY to purhase a wide angle lense. I also have a family vacation coming up and am desperate to expand my kit and inlude a wider angle lens! Tamron has a great reputation and MCP Actions is a great site I like you on facebook and am always checking out your posts! Thank you Elsie Joyce

  33. Michelle on September 14, 2011 at 9:13 am

This lens would be awesome in providing sharp beautiful portraits for my clients! I love shooting with the 50mm that I have now but sometimes you need to back up and I can’t with this lens! I absolutely love MCP on facebook….I learn alot from you all!!!! Thanks for putting on this great contest!!!!

  35. Melissa Ives on September 14, 2011 at 9:14 am

Oh, I was so excited I didn’t read the rest of the blog entry!! OH NO! You do not need to count my previous entry…here’s my corrected one. 1. I love shooting wide and often shoot in tight places so this focal length would really be beneficial.2. I like to shoot at about 28 to 50 on a crop3. I already like you on Facebook! :)Thank you!

  36. rebecca on September 14, 2011 at 9:14 am

This is the lens I have been WANTING> I took a class with Ken Hubbard this summer and everyone of his shots with this lens just loved. It would benefit me with 2.8 range throughout the zoom.I love shooting wide landscapes, with a foreground.I am a mcp fb fan, which is how I saw the post!

  37. Jennifer on September 14, 2011 at 9:14 am

    1. The vibration compensation would really help when I’m taking photos of kids on the go – I don’t always have time to get into the ideal stable stance for capturing a moment, and I can see the VC would rescue moments that may otherwise have been lost.2. Favourite focal length depends a bit, but I certainly make the most of my prime 50mm lens. It would be great to have a lens that allowed me to shoot at f/2.8 at other focal lengths!3. I’m hoping I confirmed the ‘like MCP’ correctly on fb!

  38. Faith K on September 14, 2011 at 9:14 am

This lens would be fantastic as we are moving into the fall/winter season where light is at a premium. The 2.8 with the 15-50mm zoom would let me get the shots that I need when I am working indoors in limited space. My favorite focal length is 50mm.I of course am a follower on FB. I love MCP!

  39. Klara Bernklau on September 14, 2011 at 9:14 am

I love using my 50mm lens but sometimes I miss wider lens because some objects canŒÇt fit in the picture 🙂

I just subscribed to your feed. Thanks!

  41. kate blue on September 14, 2011 at 9:15 am

I have my prime lens (which I love) but it does limit my photography. I have been wanting a zoom lens so badly and this would be perfect to help me capture active kids and sports. 50 is my favoirteI am a long time FB fan! Thanks for the chance to win!

  42. Kerri on September 14, 2011 at 9:15 am

    1. i LOVE wide angle shooting. My current wide angle zoom lens is just too slow of a lens to really utilize. So having that fast speed would be awesome.2. i usually shoot 35mm for focal length right now.3. LOVE MCP actions already 🙂

  43. Jeremy C on September 14, 2011 at 9:15 am

50mm is my favorite focal length. I love my canon 50mm prime lens. However, when shooting a family, large groups, or close quarters, sometimes 50mm is too much. Being able to quickly move between a wide angle 17mm and a 50mm focal lengths would allow me to transition between shooting solos and groups quickly, or have greater flexibility within small spaces. It would also allow me to capture both nice tight shots and immediately pull back for a wide dynamic shot without having to move or change lenses. Which a lot of times causes the subject to move, change facial expression, or assume that shot it done. And not only do I “like” mcp actions on facebook, but I have shared some of my own images edited with MCP actions on your page before. Love MCP!

  44. Elysha on September 14, 2011 at 9:15 am

    1. This lens would help me so much in getting sharper portraits of my kids and my friends’ kids – it’s the next lens on my purchase list, actually!2. Since I mostly shoot with my 35mm prime, that’s my current favorite focal length.3. I ‘like’ MCP Actions on facebook!

  45. sandra maddox on September 14, 2011 at 9:15 am

50mm is my FAVORITE focal lenght. I think this lens would be great for me to shoot kids and the mountains.Just getting started in photography so I need all the help I can get. I have liked MCP on facebook and love it. Thanks for the giveaway.

  46. Rachel Rochefort on September 14, 2011 at 9:15 am

    1. I would really love to play with some new lenses. Right now I only have the lens that came with my camera. 2. My favorite focal length would be around 50mm, but I don’t really have many options with the lens I have. 3. I’ve been a fan for a while. =)

I love my 50mm prime lens I use on my Nikon D50. Yes that’s right a D50.. I know that camera is extinct, slowly saving for a upgrade 🙂 I’ve never actually tried this lens, but from what I’ve read it produces a very sharp image which would be awesome. Maybe it would help my dinosaur, lol. I’ve of MCP on facebook and enjoy reading the posts. Thanks for the giveaway !

  49. Rayan on September 14, 2011 at 9:16 am

    1. This lens would be wonderful for walking around outside and getting snap shots of my children who are 2 and 6 months. The twin 2 year olds move fast and the zoom would allow me to snap photos of them in different locations with a great F stop – allowing for lower light conditions! Plus, I love using the wide angle portion of the lens in city shots at night. Just beautiful!2. I love to shoot my 50mm f1.8, but a great zoom lens adds functionality for different situations.3. I Like MCP Actions on FB

  50. Jennifer on September 14, 2011 at 9:16 am

  51. Amy mccarty on September 14, 2011 at 9:16 am

    1. Currently I shoot a NIKON 50mm 1.8 or my everyday lens is the tamron 18-27. This 2.8 would be a perfect compliment to my bag. I shoot a ton of portraits from seniors to families and more than 1,000 sports kids a year. I need a fast lens that can get the job done and produce beautiful portraits. This lens would allow me to shoot my portraits and groups without switching out the lens the bokeh and low light features are an added bonus. It will allow me to take my business to the next level and level the playing field between my at- home studio and that of the big dog studio in our area. It will show that with the right glass and creative eye you have what you need for great portraits. 2. I shoot most my portrait on my 50mm. I love the look of my portraits but desire more of a focal range at times.3. I have been a “like” of MCP for some time now, and yes…on Facebook too.

  54. Michael Brady on September 14, 2011 at 9:17 am

    1. Could use this lens as it would allow me to shoot in lower natural light and I could capture more kids moving around. I have four kids myself and shoot primarily children. This would be such a great addition to my shoots.2. I really like 50mm.3. I LOVE MCP ACTIONS ON FB. I have most of the actions.P.S. This photo from a wedding I did recently.

I love shooting wide angle landscapes and this lens would help me achieve that. My current lens does not have VR so that would be a huge plus for me. I love shooting at a focal length of around 20 for landscape and 50 for portraits. I have “liked” MCP on facebook for some time now. That’s how I keep up to date.

  58. Kate on September 14, 2011 at 9:18 am

1.) I only have a 50mm 1.8. I would love to be able to get shots and focus closer up! I have to move around so much with a prime lens to get the shot. It would help me so much to have something different. I also would like to go into Real Estate photography for staging homes. A wide angle would be amazing for this!2.) I can only shoot 50mm focal length. I love it, but I would loooove to go wider!

  59. Paul Perger on September 14, 2011 at 9:18 am

I shoot Senior Photos and Weddings primarily and recently rented a Canon 17-55 2.8 and LOVED it. I imagine this is very compatible. My Favorite Focal Length is 24mm. This is only because it is the shortest length I current have with a 2.8 lens. When I rented teh 17-55, I found myself in the 17-18 range regularly, so I imagine when that becomes possible, it will become my favorite.I already “Like” MCP on Facebook. Thanks for the opportunity to win!Paul

Like many others, I became interested in photography when my son was born. As I learn more and my subject matter grows (ok maybe it’s just my son that’s growing and now I have to chase him), it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get wide enough to get the shot I want with my favorite 50mm lens. I would love to have a 17-50mm lens! Love MCP! Thanks!

This would be a great everyday lens…one that could stay on my camera throughout the week and help me remember to take pictures of my own kids and not just sessions with other families and kids.2. Love to shoot at 50mm – love my current 50 mm f1.4 lens3. I like MCP Actions on FB – check it out everyday!!

So excited I started following the blog and for your actions. This lens would add to my bare collection. I am a second year business and still only have two lenses in my bag. I rent most of my lenses (I am saving to purchase more). My favorite focal length to shoot is 50mm or 85mm. Yes, I like you on both my personal and business page of facebook. Excited to see who wins. Especially if it me.

  73. Jennifer M on September 14, 2011 at 9:20 am

I would love, love, love to win this lens because I would be able to take wider shots. Right now my favorite focal length is 50mm but I’m sure that’ll change soon!! I already “like” MCP Actions on Facebook even thought I actually love you guys ;-). Thank you!!!

I have a prime lens right now which I LOVE but it does limit my photography. I would love to have this lens to help capture the active LO and sports. 50 is my favoriteI have been liking you on facebook for a long time. Thanks for the chance to win.

  75. Judy Ozmar on September 14, 2011 at 9:20 am

Recently I have taken some photos for a real estate agent and found I need a wider angle lens. This lens would definitely help in those tight spaces. My favorite lens is a zoom and I use the 50 mm for most other type of images. I ‘like’ MCP on Facebook and appreciate the freebies and contests!

  76. lisa on September 14, 2011 at 9:20 am

This lens would benefit me because I do alot of indoor shoots and need a wide angle lens. My fave focal length changes depending what im doing, for example when shooting rugby its 300mm but for portraits its got to be 50mm. I do like MCP on facebook and love getting your posts on there!

  77. Erin on September 14, 2011 at 9:20 am

Oh my goodness… this is the exact lens i am wishing for! This would benefit my photography because I use a 50 mm 1.8 and a 135 mm 2.8, and have nothing to shoot with in the 17-50 mm range. My favorite focal length to shoot at is 50 mm, because I do a lot of portraits. I have gotten so much wonderful information from mcp actions, and I am most certainly a fan on facebook. Thank you so much!

  78. Deborah S on September 14, 2011 at 9:20 am

The tamron lens would be a great asset to my collection of lenses. I love shooting at 30 to 50mm. I have “liked’ MCP on facebook for sometime now.

  79. Jill on September 14, 2011 at 9:20 am

I could greatly benefit from this lens. Right now I shoot with an 85mm (which I LOVE….it is my favorite lens and focal length ever) and a 50mm. Although I really love these two lenses, many times I wish I was able to capture things on a little wider scale. The 17-55 would be a great focal length, and I love that the aperature is still low. I have been a fan of MCP actions on facebook for a long time. I love MCP….your actions are amazing, and your blog is very inspiring! Thanks for holding such a great contest!

This lense would benefit my business SOOO SOOO much, I am a newer photographer just trying to make ends meet in a bad economy with my secod child on the way. It would help me so much by giving me more opportunities to shoot in ways I am not able to shoot with at the moment. My favorite lense I shoot with is my portrait lense, a used cannon 50mm 1.8I LOVE< LOVE: LOVE! MCP Actions, they are what I use to edit all my photgraphy pictures :)ThanksShelley

    1. This lens would benefit me because I shoot regularly in studio, I would like to be able to expand.2. I like and follow MCP on facebook, this is my first time entering a contest and I will spread the word!

  96. Amy Singleton on September 14, 2011 at 9:24 am

I am already a fan of MCP and subscribe to the RSS feed. I find myself getting lost in articles MCP posts when I should be folding laundry 😉 I currently use my Canon 50mm 1.8 for newborns (when I have the space!) As an on location photographer, I sometimes don’t have the room in a clients home to use this amazing lens and so I turn to my Tamron 28-75 which has been so good to me! Having the Tamron 17-50 will make my small lens collection a happy little family and would SURELY be my “go to” when in a smaller space with my snuggy buggy newborns. Aim

  97. Sean McCarthy on September 14, 2011 at 9:24 am

    1) I shoot a lot of Portraits, Kids, & Weddings so have either lens added to my collection would greatly improve my versatility. I currently own 2 Tamron Lens and have always been a huge fan of them. Currently my 50mm 1.8 is the fastest lens i having the versatility of a fast zoom would greatly open up more options shooting for me.2) My New Nikon 50mm 1.8G has got to be my current favorite lens right now, i love that lens, so i would have to say that 50mm would be my favorite length to shoot.3) Ive been a long time follower of your Facebook, use most of your free actions, and Also added you on Flickr, Twitter, & Linked In, Along with subscribing to the Blog.Photo below is SOOC , d7000, 50mm @ 2.8.

1: Currently the widest angle lens I own is the kit lens from my Nikon D90 (an 18-105 mm). Needless to say, it’s not a top quality lens, so I’ve been slowly purchasing better ones. Something I don’t have yet is a lens in the 17-50 mm range, and I’ve been eyeing this Tamron option! I’m just a budding photographer trying to start up my own photography business (I quit may day job to jump in with both feet!). So, this lens would help me be more versatile as I grow my new business and my photography skills! 2: I like to shoot between 24-70 mm, but am hoping to shoot more wide angle stuff soon.3: I most definitely “like” MCP Actions on Facebook!!

  102. Rox on September 14, 2011 at 9:25 am

    1. I am just a beginner but would love to experiment with new angle options and this lens would do just that!2. I hate to say it, but I am not sure what my favorite focal length is. I just got my new DSLR camera and I am still learning how to use it. My guess would be 50mm.3. I already “like” MCP Actions on Facebook.

1.I like the veratility of a wide angle lens. I like shooting just about anything & this would help to not have to switch my lens so often. 110. Brecken on September 14, 2011 at 9:26 am

    1. I have the kit lens, and a 50mm lens. But switching between the two means I miss the in-between stuff and once when shooting on liberty island on a windy day got dirt blown into my body. It was horrible. 2. I love to shoot with my 50 mm, the detail and bokeh are wonderful contrast, but it’s such a limited lens. Groups are nearly impossible. Running children are harder to keep in frame. etc. It would be nice to turn the lens instead of have to change the lens on those outings where I need more than just head shots. 3. I “like” MCP Actions on Facebook!

  111. Katrina Romagnoli on September 14, 2011 at 9:26 am

    1. I’ve been using a kit lens for a while, working on getting my skills up to par before dropping the money on a better lens. This lens would be a great addition to my lens. I currently have a fixed 50mm and I absolutely love it. It would be great to have this option to zoom out more to be able to get wider angle shots and possibly better group shots in portraits. My passion is in landscape though, and I know this would make a great lens to shoot landscapes with.

  115. Andrea on September 14, 2011 at 9:27 am

I would love to have a wider lens, right now I only have a 24 and have been wanting something wider. I Like MCP Actions on my facebook page and I shared this contest on my facebook page.

    1. This lens would be great for my wedding photography. Right now the widest lens I use is the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. This lens would make taking the group shots a little easier.2. I don’t really have a specific focal length that I love. I only have one prime lens, the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro. I love that lens! It stays on my camera a lot.I am a MCP facebook fan. That’s where I saw the post about the lens. Thanks!

  122. Pamela on September 14, 2011 at 9:28 am

    1. This lens would benefit my photography because I shoot with crop sensor cameras and sometimes 28mm isn’t wide enough. I have rented wider lenses on occasion, but would LOVE to have one at my disposal 24/7. 2. My 50mm 1.4 is on my camera most of the time – if I am shooting the more stationary subjects and adults or really need that super-shallow depth of field. I just love that lens so much. But I find myself putting a zoom on when my subjects are less predictable AND I find myself often wanting something wider than my 28-75mm affords me. 3. I have liked MCP Actions on Facebook, and I love them every time I edit a photo! 🙂

    1. How would this lens benefit your photography? It would add a whole new dimension by giving me a wider angle to shoot with. 2. What is your favorite focal length to shoot? Indoors it’s the 35 or 50, outdoors the 85 for portraits, the 24-70 for families/groups. 3. 1. How would this lens benefit your photography? – a wide aperature zoom lens would be so helpful in shooting. I currently mostly use my 50mm 1.4 to get that BEAUTIFUL bokeh, but it also means I am running backwards a lot to get more in the frame. To be able to zoom in and out while not sacrificing f-stop would be great! (my other lens is an 18-55 3.5-5.6, so I lose a lot of stops there!)2. What is your favorite focal length to shoot? – as mentioned above, I generally shoot at 50mm. And before getting my 50, I tended to zoom in to 55 to achieve favorable bokeh. 3. Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior) – I’ve liked MCP actions on FB!

Most of my photography has been portraits and sporting events. I have great lenses for those types of shot but recently, I’ve been looking into birth photography. My first birth shoot is scheduled for Oct. 3rd! I’m very excited to have my photography be a part of the greatest moment in life. I do not have a good lens (or any lens for that matter) that is suitable for this type of photography. I would LOVE to have this lens for low light and wide angle. I do not have a “favorite” focal length – each is unique. I adore MCP Actions – Magic Skin and The Eye Doctor are fantastic! I use them on every portrait…love, love, love!

The widest focal point I own right now is 24mm…so to have it at 17mm, would GREATLY benefit my photography, as I’d be able to get in large groups while still obtaining CRISP, SHARP images b/c I wouldn’t have to back up so far! 2. I love using my 35mm/1.8 lens currently…until I get a full frame camera…otherwise, I LOVE the 50mm:)3. I soooo Like MCP actions on facebook 🙂 AND have “liked” them officially as well:)

I have liked (loved) MCP actions for quite a while now and have referred several people to your Facebook page! Thanks for an awesome give away!

  156. Fred L on September 14, 2011 at 9:35 am

First off, this lens would benefit me by not only providing vibration control for still shots, but also give me a 2.8 aperture from 17 to 50mm unlike some of those cheaper lenses that vary the size of your aperture based on your chosen focal length. so no matter if i’m shooting wide, or standard zoomed, my aperture stays put. this would be very useful for consistency when I’m shooting HD Video on my DSLR as well.Second, my favorite focal length is somewhere around 24mm on my APS-C frame DSLR. Maybe someday I’ll have the opportunity to purchase a full frame!Third, I am a fan of the MCP Actions Facebook page. It’s the way I found out about this contest, and I plan to repost the contest for my other friends to have the same opportunity and promote the MCP Actions page.

  157. Maureen on September 14, 2011 at 9:35 am

How would this lens benefit your photography?I have been looking for a wider-angle lens to use for some of my new obsession; night photography! i took some shots the other night and caught the big dipper – and a shooting star (attached below!)! :)What is your favorite focal length to shoot?I don’t know if I really have a specific answer for this yet, but i bought the 24-70 2.8 recently and it has a wonderful range — i’ve enjoyed a lot of shoots with little kidlets with it lately.Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior)I do! i do! i promise! 🙂

I love to shoot 50mm. This would be a great every day lens.I subscribe via RSS and I like MCP on Facebook!!

  160. Megan on September 14, 2011 at 9:36 am

50mm is my very fave focal length to shoot but that’s most likely because it’s the only upgraded lens I have at this point! LOL This lens would be HUGELY beneficial for me as I shoot mostly portraits and need a fast zoom lens to add to my equipment. And not only do I “like” MCP Actions on Facebook, I LOVE them! 🙂

  161. Sarah Kannenberg on September 14, 2011 at 9:36 am

I would really benefit from this lens because my short lens will only go to f5 and it really hinders the quality of what I shoot. As for my favorite focal length, it really depends on the subject as I shoot such a wide variety.

  162. May on September 14, 2011 at 9:36 am

1- I would use this lens to explore different foal lens and it would be great for indoor shots as well as outdoor specially in winter time.2- I mostly use the 35 mm and I love it.3- I’m a BIG fan on FB.

  163. Jennifer D. on September 14, 2011 at 9:36 am

Thanks for the giveaway! This lens would help my photography because I do not have a lot of lenses to work with. I am slowly adding to my lens stash. This is a great range for focal lengths as I do not have wider lens. My favorite focal length right now is 50 mm. I am a huge fan of MCP on FB and follow the blog as well!

  164. Stacy Hart on September 14, 2011 at 9:36 am

    1. I’ve been eyeing this lens for some time for my Nikon and it would help me greatly as I build my business. I really need a lens with some zoom power yet still able to get that nice bokeh. 2. My favorite focal length is 50mm and I use my 50mm prime all the time on portrait shoots. However, I feel like I am sometimes limited and there are times I need to be able to get a little closer to the action. This lens would do the trick!3. I like MCP on FB.4. PICK ME! PICK ME! I ain’t too proud to beg 🙂

Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

I would love to use this lens for my photos of kids, they move so fast and so often that this would be perfect. Right now my favorite focal length is 50mm, but found a great spot that needs something a little more adjustable … I already like MCP on facebook …

  168. Kristin on September 14, 2011 at 9:36 am

I would love this lens because I’m constantly shooting pics of kids in natural light indoors and my current lenses just don’t cut it! My favorite focal length is 35 mm, so this would be perfect to get those shots. I like MCP actions on Facebook, it’s how I found this contest! 🙂

  169. Cecily R on September 14, 2011 at 9:37 am

Having a 17 focal length would help A LOT with group photography, but having one with an f/2.8 is even BETTER. Right now my favorite focal length is probably 50mm, but it’s a toss up between that and 85mm.I do like you on FB!

  170. Alisabeth Brouwer on September 14, 2011 at 9:37 am

My favorite focal length to shoot at is probably 35mm – I would love to have something that would allow me a little more room and a wider angle! I like MCP actions on FB!! Keeping my fingers crossed!!

  171. Ingrid Durfee on September 14, 2011 at 9:37 am

    1. This lens would benefit my photography because I would have good glass not only for distance shots but also for closer & wide angle shots, & the zoom and f/2.8 would give flexibility.2. I usually prefer my 70-200mm f/2.8 because I can get close shots without being intimidating, and can keep the bg out of focus. It’s also great for sports shots, and has much better glass than my kit lenses.3. I already “like” MCP on FB, which is how I heard about the Tamron contest!

  172. Jill on September 14, 2011 at 9:37 am

I am actually in the market for a good wide angle lens and this is one I have been looking at. It will definitely help when shooting at the beach where I spend a lot of weekends. My favorite focal length appears to be a very popular and common one – 50mm.I confirmed I like ya’ll on FB. It’s how I heard about this contest. 🙂

OOOHHHH! I’d love to have this lens! I usually shoot portraits with my “nifty fifty” but I’d love to have this lens for more flexibility and versatility. I just began learning about DSLR photography a year ago and don’t really have alot of lenses in my bag, so this would be a welcome addition… I’d give it a great home ;)And yes, I do like MCP Actions on Facebook and appreciate your tips for amateurs and professionals alike!

  175. Christina W. on September 14, 2011 at 9:37 am

    1. This lens would be a huge benefit to my photography, as I have nothing with this kind of focal range in my bag right now.2. My favorite focal length is WIDE at 24mm.3. I “like” MCP Actions on Facebook.EXTRA: I spread the word on FB and have the MCP blog in my RSS reader.I’d be so excited to win! 🙂

  176. Jenny on September 14, 2011 at 9:37 am

What a great giveaway! The wider angle would allow me to shoot in smaller spaces which would be extremely handy! Typically, I shoot at 50 mm. I “like” MCP actions on Facebook. Thanks for the chance to win!

  177. Stefanie on September 14, 2011 at 9:38 am

    1. This lens would benefit my photography as I’m getting into weddings and find I’m struggling to make my current lenses really work for me. I borrowed a friend’s 17-40 and almost died of happiness, so this lens is EXACTLY what I’m looking for!2. My favorite focal length for people is 2.8 – 3.2. For objects, I love playing at 1.8 or 1.4, just to see what kind of interesting things bokeh will do.3. I like MCP on Facebook! I think from both my personal page (Stefanie Decker) and my business page (BP Studio)! I just like you THAT MUCH! 🙂

  178. Krystal Griffin on September 14, 2011 at 9:38 am

But funds are limited at this time! What is your favorite focal length to shoot? 18-200mm & 50mmAnd thank you for all your post full of knowledge!!!And one more thing, winning this will totally make my wife’s day! 🙂

  182. Allison Barlar on September 14, 2011 at 9:38 am

    1. It would benefit my photography because my husband dropped my wide angle lens and I do not have the money right now to replace it. So I am pretty much at a stand still right now:(2. I love shooting at 18 35 and 50mm.3. I like MCP on Facebook!!!!

  183. Jeannette on September 14, 2011 at 9:38 am

  184. Heather Harlin on September 14, 2011 at 9:38 am

85mm is fast becoming my favorite…I am a huge fan and already like MCP actions on facebook and would really benefit from this lens because i do not have a wide angle lens and have learned in the past year that weddings seem to be my thing 🙂

  185. Donna on September 14, 2011 at 9:39 am

I am just getting started in the pursuit of my love of photography. I recently took a beginner class to give me somethings to start thinking about, upgraded my computer to an iMac for editing and photo storage, just for starters. However when we went to the Grand Canyon over the weekend for me to try out some of my new ideas, I noticed my lens would not go below a 5 f-stop. Needless to say, I was bummed! So now adding to my lenses will be the next step. This new one would be great!Being a newbie to really paying attention to what I am doing, rather than always doing point and shoot, I still am discovering my favorite shooting preferences.I do like you on facebook!!

  186. Faye Joyce on September 14, 2011 at 9:39 am

How would this lens benefit your photography?I had to sell most of my previous lenses to invest in my Canon 5D Mark II that I purchased a couple months ago, so I am only working with one lens currently, and feel like it is doing an injustice to my camera! 😛 I would love to add a new lens to my set so I could have a broader range of photographs with different looks and focal lengths. What is your favorite focal length to shoot? My favorite focal length to shoot would have to be 35mm wide angle. I also love my 24-105mm for an ultra wide angle..!Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior)I have “liked” your page, quite some time ago ;)thanks!(my website that I added is down for the time being for reconstruction and redesign, should be up soon!!)

  191. Niki Collis on September 14, 2011 at 9:40 am

This would be a wonderful lens in getting wide angle shots, especially indoors as it starts to get cooler outside. With this lens, I wouldn’t have to bump up the ISO or use flash (which I really dislike). My favorite focal length to use is 50mm. I “like” MCP Actions on Facebook! (actually, LOVE and have for awhile now!)

  192. Melissa on September 14, 2011 at 9:40 am

I would benefit from this lens as I take a lot of group pictures in small areas, in low light conditions. My favorite length is my 100-400 but I am a sucker for sports action pictures. Liking your facebook link is the way I stay up to date on all great thing your group provides.

  222. Katrina Flaws on September 14, 2011 at 9:43 am

This lens would help me as I currently dont have a 24 or 50 mm lens and I shot portraits just yesterday using a 70mm zoom at 50 mm all day! I enjoy shooting at 85mm usually, or doing some macro with my close up adapter on my 300mm zoom. I have liked and confirmed liking you guys for a while now!

    1. I’m a photographer starting out…I don’t have the money to expand my lens catalogue..yet. This would be a dream for fall shooting…and family photography under the beautiful coloured trees to a head shot.2. Is this a trick question? This lens would definitely be a great addition in the bag. I currently have the 50mm 1.8 which I love! That is by far my favorite focal length (so far). There are times I pull out my kit lens (18-55) just to get a wider angle, but would love the fixed aperture of the Tamron 17-50. I, of course, already follow MCP on facebook – love!

Oh wow, I would love to win this lens! It would greatly improve my ability to capture births in small rooms. Right now I have to switch between 2 primes and Im always worried Im going to miss a spectacular moment while swapping lenses. My favorite focal length is 50mmI’m a fan of MCP actions and have been for quite awhile. Your one click color is part of my editing bibleThank you for the opportunity!

  235. Heather Martin on September 14, 2011 at 9:44 am

1.How would this lens benefit your photography? This would truely help my wedding photography. I struggle to get very wide shots as I don’t yet shoot full frame and my widest lens is my 24-700mm. 2.What is your favorite focal length to shoot? I really like to shoot at about 70mm. I use both my 24-70 and 70-200 a lot. 3.Confirmed!!!

  236. Jenna on September 14, 2011 at 9:44 am

I have baby number 2 due in December and since there won’t be as many outdoor shots I’ll be taking a lot of my baby’s pictures indoors. It’ll be really nice to be able to get such a wide angel without smashing myself up against the wall ;-)I love my 35mm (which my camera basically crops to 55mm) but man I’d live being able to go to 17!!I like (really love mcp) on Facebook!Crossing my fingers!! Thanks for this opportunity to win!!!

This lens would be greatly beneficial to my newly started business. I recently switched my career focus to photography because it allows me to be creative and do what I love. I enjoy shooting with my 50mm for those crisp, detailed shots. I have to buy my equipment in sparsly because of cost. You have to spend money to make money. This lens would be greatly appreciated and give me more confidence knowing I have a quality goto lens.

  239. Leia Smethurst on September 14, 2011 at 9:44 am

    1. This lens would benefit my photography because there are situations where I am doing a family portrait with over 10 people and it would be great to have a lens wide enough to accomodate that. Not only that, I own several Tamron lenses, and I trust their quality.2. My favorite focal length to shoot is the 24-70mm range. I do own the Tamron 28-75 and it’s terrific! I would love the ability to go wider at times however.3. I do like MCP actions on Facebook, I’ve been a fan for a few months now. Thank you I hope I win!!This photo was taken with one of my favorites-Tamron 28-300mm.

  240. Marissa Bowers on September 14, 2011 at 9:44 am

How would this lens benefit your photography?I do own e a wide angle lens, and usually borrow this exact same lens for a neighbor when I got out and know I’m going to try to get some landscape along with my portrait sessions. For weddings, I use this type of lens for group shots (usually rented.)What is your favorite focal length to shoot? With this lens (when I borrow or rent it,) I love using it at 35mm; but have gotten some great landscape shots at 17mm.Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count Of course!

  241. Jason Ebberts on September 14, 2011 at 9:45 am

    1) I would love to be able to zoom wide open, and come in for the classic 50 profile look. 2) I love the wide angle feel in photographs. I love the way it makes the background play with the subject of the photo. 3) Of coarse I follow on Facebook… that is how I got this wonderful information to come here 🙂

  242. Danny Dillard on September 14, 2011 at 9:45 am

I currently have a Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 lens that is a lens i use most, but some times it’s not wide enough. I shoot a lot of on location portraits and with larger groups this lens would be perfect!

  243. Mia on September 14, 2011 at 9:45 am

Hi There, What a great lens. Thank you for the opportunity. I have just started my professional photography venture and this would help me with my family sessions. I love to capture the fun that families have together and I need fast lenses. As of lately I have been using and enjoying 35mm. I’ve been “liking” you on FB for a few months already. 🙂

  244. Mary on September 14, 2011 at 9:45 am

  249. Brittany Dransfield on September 14, 2011 at 9:46 am

I would love a new lens! This lens would be a perfect addition in taking portrait photos!I love to shoot at 50mm. I think it is the perfect length for portraits! I am also a FB fan 🙂

  250. Leslie on September 14, 2011 at 9:46 am

    >>How would this lens benefit your photography?I’m just a beginner, learning the ropes. This lens would add to my 50mm fixed lens that I’ve bought and let me get some longer shots!!>>What is your favorite focal length to shoot?Right now, it’s just the 50mm fixed. I love using it for photos of my kids. :)>>Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior)I do like you on FB. 🙂 And have for a while!! 😀

  251. Darren Fisher on September 14, 2011 at 9:46 am

A new lens would be awesome, it has been so long since I could get one to add to my collection. 17/50 with a f/2.8 would be a great addition to the family. I love wide angel shots of landscapes and this lens would also work for my stock photography indoors. Could not ask for more.I do not have a favorite focal length cause I love shooting in so many different ways. Again a wide angel landscape is what I am thinking about with this one.And yep I do follow you on FB and on my fan page you are added to my favorites.

  252. Elaine C on September 14, 2011 at 9:46 am

I love taking portraits…so my favorite lens is my prime 55 mm 1.4. But it does severely limit my ability to shoot wider and my mobility in tight situations. So….having said, that I would LOVE to be able to use the 17-50 lens to offer more flexibility (wide angle and low lighting situations) in my shots. I love MCP and am already a FACEBOOK fan! Thanks!!!

  253. Jacqueline on September 14, 2011 at 9:46 am

I would love to add this lens to my collection, My favorite focal length is 50mm I use it 98% of the time. But having this lens would open so many possibilities a nice wide angle with 2.8 aperture YUM. I’d use it for fun wide angle shots of my children, oooh and for my son’s 1at year birthday party with a carnival theme I can dream 🙂

  254. Julia D on September 14, 2011 at 9:46 am

1-I am just learning photography with my new Canon DSLR, so this lens would help expand my capabilities and photograph my fast moving little children, when they least suspect it 🙂 The kit lens falls short for me..2-The first lens I purchased was the Canon “nifty fifty” and I LOVE photographing my children with it.3-I already “like” MCP actions on FB 🙂

This lense will help me take photos of my children upclose and get that perfect photo.2. I’m still experimenting with lenses, but I like my 75/300 lense for taking pics of my kids playing 3. i’m already a fan of MCP on facebook

  260. Lori on September 14, 2011 at 9:46 am

I have heard so many wonderful things about this lens from other photographers that I can only imagine that my portraits will just really POP using this lens! Right now my “go to” lens is my f/2.8 28-75mm and my 50mm. I love being able to get close in and create a lovely bokeh! And yes, I LIKE MCP on FB. (Wish there was a LOVE button instead of just LIKE!)

1.How would this lens benefit your photography? It would change my options for the types of shots I can do obviously! I would love to have one to see what all I could do with it! 2.What is your favorite focal length to shoot? 50 mm3.I am a fan on Facebook!

  262. Emily on September 14, 2011 at 9:47 am

This lens would benifit me because I shoot big families. I need something I can go wide, and still have a 2.8. I love shooting with a 50mm, but I love going wide to get a different perspective. I have also ‘liked’ MCP on facebook! :)I also subscribed to the blog and shared on my photography page. Emily Hamrick photography.

I currently use a 50mm but would love to have fast lens with a shorter focal length.I not only “like” but love MCP actions on facebook! I’m always recommending your site to fellow momtogs and photogs as a great place to go to learn a wealth of info!

  268. Istvíçn Keresztes on September 14, 2011 at 9:47 am

    1. With the help of this Tamron lens I would be able to expand my photography and to take it to the next level, as I am keen on shooting wide angles, especially buildings and nature. 2,8 would allow me to take photos in low light conditions as well.2. 50mm is my favourite focal length. Most of my shots were done by the nifty-fifty. (I have not used any other lens.)3. I “like” MCP actions on Facebook (I have a lot of your actions) and I have subscribed to your RSS feed as well. I would benefit from this lens because I am currently in the market for a wide to mid range zoom, I currently do not have a true wide angle focal length for my crop sensor camera and I love that this lens will perform in low light conditionsMy fav focal length is 50mm! I have been a long time liker on FB and a longtime customer. Also, I just posted the contest on my page for my fellow photographers to see.

  270. Mickie on September 14, 2011 at 9:47 am

    1. I’d love to try out the lower f2.8 and the VC. I’m still very much an amateur and learning. I struggle with low light situations so I’m especially interested in the features talked about here.2. I only have my kit lens still, but I’ve borrowed my photographer brothers lenses and loved his 50mm. 3. I love keeping up with MCP via Facebook! Definitely ‘like’ there and pass along links to my friends.

  272. Ilona Haye on September 14, 2011 at 9:47 am

This lens would greatly improve my photography by letting me capture shots indoors with it set at 17mm, that a prime 50mm will not. I would also love the zoom factor on it, not only would it improve my photography, it would also save my legs from all the running around i do right now! My favorite focal length would be somewhere between 35-50mm.I already like and love you on FB <3

I am also looking at a prime lens but love the simple adjustments of a zoom. 3. I absolutely love MCP actions and have liked the page for along time. I have purchased a good deal of the actions and wouldn’t know what to do without them. :)I plan to share on my personal page and business page Aspiring Images Photography.

I have a 70-200mm lens and I shoot in my garage. I really need to back up. When shooting newborns, I don’t trust being that far back, so I use the kit lens! This awesome lens would help out so much!Favorite length is 70mm is that’s what i’m lens I’m using.I confirmed the ‘Like’!

  291. Andrew Hill on September 14, 2011 at 9:50 am

    1. To be honest I’d be looking more towards trying to benefit my son’s photography as he’s just started in 6th form at the college and could do with something sweet to strap to the front of my old faithful 400D that I’ve just handed down to him.2. I’m a big fan of 50mm at the moment but I’m rather drawn towards 28mm at the moment as I’m drifting back towards more street orientated shots.3. I also “like” MCP Actions on facebook.Keep up the good work.

  292. Lindsay Wilhelmi on September 14, 2011 at 9:50 am

1.This lens would be great for me, as I do a lot of kid/baby portrait photography… mostly with my 50mm prime, but this would be wonderful for tight squeeze situations, and for when I just need to get a little more into the shot.2.Fave focal lenght is currently 50mm. My f1.4 50mm rarely leaves my camera body these days. :)3.I most certainly like y’all on Facebook!

  293. kristina coan on September 14, 2011 at 9:50 am

Ohhh…how I would love to add this lens to my small collection that I’m building. This lens will help me stand further away from my subjects, mainly children. I just bought what is referred to as the nifty fifty and so far I am in love. It would be wonderful to have a good quality lens with a zoom. Right now, because it’s my new toy my favorite focal length is 50mm. :)I just love your actions. I have eye dr/dentist and my next is magic skin. Oh and I “like” you on facebook. Thanks for the opportunity to enter!!

  294. Daniel on September 14, 2011 at 9:50 am

I would benefit from having VC plus the 2.8 at this focal length for indoor group shots. This would also be a perfect walk around lens! I like shooting at 35mm. I find many of my shots have fallen between 24-50mm. I “like” MCP Actions on Facebook, and have for some time!

  295. Leah on September 14, 2011 at 9:50 am

  297. Regina on September 14, 2011 at 9:50 am

This lens would be a great addition. I currently do not own a wide lens, can’t afford it right now. I am being asked left and right to do photos for families, and a wide angle lens is just what I need for that. I currently make my 18-55 lens work, but it would be great to have a new lens! =) My Favorite focal length 2.8… I don’t currently own a lens with less than a 4 focal length.Yes! I like, like , like your page! =)

  298. Kristin Borst on September 14, 2011 at 9:50 am

I feel that this lens would be greatly beneficial to me because right now I have the kit lens (18-55) and a zoom lens (75-300) and while I know how to use them I need something better for portraits. I am a student that is just about ready to graduate and would love to gain some new equipment since all of my money is going towards schooling. My favorite focal length is anything below 55. I love when the background softens just enough that you can’t make out just what it is surrounding the subject.

  299. Amy G on September 14, 2011 at 9:50 am

    1. I have the 28-75 and use it all the time but I have wanted this lens for so long because I need to get wider in clients (and mine) homes.2. My favorite focal length is 35mm.3. I already “like” MCP Actions on facebook!

    1. This lens would benefit my photography because quite frankly, I’m in dire need of a better “all-purpose” lens. I love the lower aperture of this lens and also the fact that I could use this lens to take a wide variety of photos (something that my 50 mm doesn’t always allow).2. I love shooting at 50 mm, but sometimes I struggle with having enough room for tight, indoor shots.3. I have been a FB fan of MCP Actions for quite some time now. Thanks so much for the chance to win!!

Right now I only have a 50mm f/1.4 lens. Adding this focal range would be incredible!! Sometimes I just can’t get wide enough due to space restrictions in some settings. My closest place to rent a lens is an hour and a half away and last weekend I had a lens reseverved for a wedding I was shooting AND THEY DIDN’T HAVE IT WHEN I SHOWED UP!!! It would be incredible to not have to rely on that place anymore until I can invest in the lenses myself (or win one)! My favorite focal length to shoot is obviously 50mm because that’s all i have! And yes, I am a HUGE fan of you on FB and have purchased from MCP in the past. Love this site, so helpful!! Thank you SO much for the opportunity to win! God bless!!

Hey!! This lens would be amazing for me so then I can stop renting it from my local camera store! It is one of the lenses next on my list to get as I am just starting in the photography business and it is blowing up!! Lots of High School Senior Pictures, Child/Family Photography, and I’ve done a couple small weddings. I think I have bought about 5 action sets already which are all amazing!!! The rented 17-50mm 2.8 has been amazing for the low light situations like in a church or a wrestling meet and the 50mm 1.8 really restricts me when I’m trying to get a certain shot and almost miss it because I have to back up so far sometimes. Getting this lens would probably be one of the most amazing things for me as it would help me go to that next level with my photography. When using this lens my favorite focal lengths I use most are around 24 and 50mm. And of Course I’m a huge fan of the MCP Facebook page! 🙂

I do a lot of landscapes and need a wider angle lens.I love shooting at 50mm, but I love shooting anywhere, anytime, anyway. 1. This lens would benefit me and my photography because my camera has a crop sensor and the 28mm isn’t always wide enough for me to get all my group shots. 2. My favorite lens is my fixed 50 mm.3. I have been a fan of MCP Actions on Facebook and use your actions in almost all my edits! Thanks for the giveaway!!

I’m dieing to get my hands on a wide angle lens!! I don’t have anything under 28mm now. To be able to capture the whole scene would be awesome. Generally, I shoot motorsports, so I’m using 200 mm Prime, but for portraits I’ll use my 28-70mm. Oh, and liking you on Facebook is how I found this, but the work “like” belittles how I feel about MCP. I wish there was a “LOVE” button on Facebook!!BTW… I love your products, website and blog too!!!!

    1. This would be a great alternative to my 18-55 kit lens for the speed alone. I’d also enjoy not having to run around as much/change lenses since I primarily use a 50 or 35mm fixed lens.2. Focal length is a toss up. I love my 50mm prime, but it can be limiting at times.3. I “like” mcp on facebook:)

I’m a full-time mom who’s gone back to school to help her family out. I have a totally different major but my minor and my passion is photography. I’m self taught as of recently, and have mostly shot prime. I’m just beginning to learn the different techniques and fall in love with the history of photograpy and it’s art more and more everyday. I would love this lens to broaden my developing love and talent for the art. I love your actions by the way.

    1. A fast lens like this with a bit of range? PLEASE!! I’ve discovered that shooting a moving toddler on a prime is not so easy – being able to zoom in/out while holding a fixed aperture would be incredible. 2. Right now I’m making great use of my 35 mm 1.8 on my crop sensor Nikon. 3. I “like” MCP actions on facebook (and have for a LONG time!)

  341. Angela R. on September 14, 2011 at 9:56 am

    1. This lens will give me more options when shooting, both for portraits and for the “art” shots that I take.2. I must say that I really love the depth of field at higher focal lengths. The bokeh provided by the higher focal lengths adds to the atmosphere of the shot.3. I have been a fan of MCP Actions on Facebook for some time now. And although I have actions for other pages, MCP actions tend to be my “go to” actions!

I am a big fan of lens with f2.8 especially the Tamron one’s , I own a tamron sp90 2.8L macro lens and it is awesome 2.For now I had like to shoot anything less than 20mm , kinda of bitten with bigger perspective ..wide open landscapes 3.I have already liked MCPactions on FB.

I currently shoot a lot around 35mm according to my lightroom over the last 6 months.3. I certainly do LIKE MCP actions on facebook, interesting posts frequently, thank you.Subscribed to the blog and shared the link on facebook.

  356. Kent on September 14, 2011 at 9:57 am

    1. This lens would really help me out because I am very intersted in photgraphy but I am on a small budget. The Tamron lens would be a great addition to my camera bag because it has the wide 17mm focal length range so I wouldn’t have to feel so crammed when shooting indoors as well as the handy 50mm. I am looking for another portrait lens and the results from this lens looked stunning; I’d definitely put this lens to work!2. My favorite focal length is the nifty 50mm. :)I’ve learned a lot from MCP, thanks!!

I have been following MCP Actions on facebook for quite some time now. I love their work and products! What would I do without them? 😉

  359. Madeleine on September 14, 2011 at 9:57 am

    1) I’m new in digital DSLR world, still use my film SLR, but make my move and buy a 5D mark II Canon. I normaly don’t ask my model to stop and take the pose, so I need a lens helping me to stop the right moment, with no blur :)2) With my Slr I use normaly the 50mm, but like to have a wide-angle for my family shoot or couple. Like to have a precise focus in specified point (perfect with a f2.8)3) I all ready like FB MCP action, it where I found and see that contest.I cross my fingers.

    1. I am a Canon photographer and quickly fell into the “only Canon will do”. *Insert laugh here* As such I only have my kit lens (blech) and a my 55-250mm lens. I have been shooting with these since my camera purchase about 2 years ago now, and really thought I was getting GREAT results. But recently I was a participant of Tamron sponsored Fall Color portraiture class and I got to play around with all of the lenses they have to offer. I was utterly gobsmacked by the quality and value of their lenses. I am currently trying to figure out how to fund my purchase of the 28-75 mm 2.8 f lens. As I stated above I have shot most of my sessions with my long zoom lens and while I love the DOF I can get with it… I often wish I could have captured more of the surrounding envinroment where I took a particular portrait. This lens would be a GODSEND!2. My favorite length would be around 70-85mm3. Been a HUUUUUGE FB fan of MCP for almost a year now! Keep up the fabulous work everyone! Photo was captured using the 28-75mm 2.8f Tamron lens at the above stated Fall Color workshop.

I do a lot of wedding photography and would be a fantastic duo to have this lens on the main body and my longer length lens on the second body.2.Favorite focal length is 50mm – I have a 50mm fix 1.4 and I love it. 390. Wendy Mayo on September 14, 2011 at 10:02 am

I don’t have a wide angle lens that is as fast as this one, so I think it would really help in low light situations. I usually use prime lenses – 50mm is my favorite. Yup, I am a MCP Actions Facebook fan!

  393. Sid Meeder on September 14, 2011 at 10:02 am

My favorite focal length is 28 – 35mm, the wider the aperture the better. I am a disabled vet on a very tight income trying to get my wedding and portrait photography business going. I rented the Nikon version of the 17-55mm 2.8 backed on a d90 w/ battery grip and an sb700 for a wedding this summer. The lens was absolutely amazing. I have acceptable equipment of my own; that being a D70 and D70s, 55- 200mm VR, 50mm 1.8, 18 – 70mm 3.5 – 4.5 lenses with a pair of sb600’s. Additionally I have (4) 800watt / sec studio strobes and battery pack setup with gels,soft-boxes and umbrellas and all the goodies.I used the 17 – 55 on my D70s and could barely tell the difference between the D90 and D70 as far as picture quality. That hands on comparison made all the difference as it changed the priority of my future purchases. I know the best investment I could make in my photography business is good, fast glass over a new body.I follow MCP on Facebook on my FB fan page as well as my personal FB page and am currently using some of the free actions you provide for which I am grateful for.Thank you for your time and considerationRespectfully yours,Sid MeederDFX Photography

    I NEED THIS TO LIVE!!!

  398. Sara Redman on September 14, 2011 at 10:03 am

    1. I love that this has the wide angle all the way to 50mm, plus 2.8? No question…this lens would be perfect and I could get rid of my other wide angle “kit” lens.2. I have been using my 35mm primarily now and it seems to be good for portraits and group shots.3. I’ve liked MCP for a while on FB. I have also done the RSS feeds through google reader for a few years now.

  399. Rebecca on September 14, 2011 at 10:04 am

This lens would benefit my photography because I recently upgraded to a full frame body. I currently have only one full frame lens.I really don’t have a favorite focal length, but would love to experiment with wider angles. Before upgrading, I liked shooting at around 35mm.I do like MVP actions on FB. 🙂

I currently own two prime lenses, and at times when I can’t move to get closer or further, it would be nice to have a fast lens that could also zoom.Because I do nature photography as well as portraits, I don’t have a favorite focal length. I use what’s necessary to get the job done.I’ve “liked” MCP Actions on FB for some time now 🙂

  402. Hollt on September 14, 2011 at 10:05 am

I would love to win this lens, I have the Tamron 70-300 mm. I mainly take pictures of my kids and often in tight fast spaces, this would be perfect. I love to shoot at 50mm, and absolutely any other range too.I confirmed that I have liked MCP Actions on facebook

  403. Misty on September 14, 2011 at 10:05 am

How would this lens benefit your photography?Since I am just starting out and I am on a very limited budget. So I basically only have one lens. So this lens would give me more options. What is your favorite focal length to shoot?I almost always shoot at 50mm. My favorite lens to use is my 50mm 1.8 Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior)I like MCP Actions on facebook.

    1) I mainly use my Nikon 35mm 1.8 lens. I hate the I have to move around all the time to “zoom”. And I feel like I am always so far away from my subject. It would be nice to be able to have a wider angle.2) My favorite focal length to shoot is 35-50mm3) I like MCP Actions on Facebook.

How would this lens benefit your photography? It will give me more resources with out having to rent a lens. What is your favorite focal length to shoot? This lens would really benefit my photography because so far I have only a kit lens and an inexpensive nifty fifty. I feel like I am already tweaking everything I can out of them and I am ready to move up to some better glass. I find myself shooting at 50 much of the time and I like my inexpensive 50 mm but it doesn’t have image stabilization and it is very fussy in lower light situations. I do like MCP actions on Facebook!

  413. Kayla Beiler on September 14, 2011 at 10:07 am

    1) It will help because it general I need more variety to my small group of lenses!2) My favourite is my 50mm 1.4! ITs a blast to work with :)Liking you guys on Facebook 🙂

I love getting the whole pic at a wide angle and then zooming in for that special detail.3) I’ve been a fan on your facebook for a while now

  425. Cheryl on September 14, 2011 at 10:09 am

This would be an excellent addition to my photography, I have a 50 mm prime that I love for portraits, but find that I want a little more flexibility at times. My kit lens works okay, but having the ability to really open up a lens would be so nice for those low light situations! My favorite focal length is 40 for portraits. I have already liked (loved!) MCP actions on facebook

  426. Treasure McPherson on September 14, 2011 at 10:09 am

    1. I have been in the market for a wider angle lens and this would greatly help with those larger group shots.2. My favorite focal length is 50mm.3. I’ve been a fan of MCP Actions for a while now, and own many of Jodi’s action sets! I LOVE THEM!

  431. Erin on September 14, 2011 at 10:09 am

How would this lens benefit your photography?I mostly stick with prime lenses, so it’d be awesome to have a good standard zoom lens as well! What is your favorite focal length to shoot? With the crop ratio on my canon rebel, I like my 50mm lens the best.I LOVE (and like) MCP Actions on facebook!

I’m in need of different lenses for different projects here and there. It will also get my creativity flowing!!! I look forward to getting my feet wet (literally as well) and making some super GREAT! photos:)!! What is your favorite focal length to shoot?I’m still trying to figure this out,but I look forward to finding out what I like and what I don’t as I spend more time with this lens and my camera!!Do you really want to win?YES!!!!! I really really REALLY want to win!!

  433. Sara on September 14, 2011 at 10:09 am

I have been wanting a new lens. I am not a photographer professionally. I started taking my childrens pictures (quintuplets plus 2) myself due to lack of extra funds to pay someone else. My husband went back to school to funds are tight for our family of nine. But, since I have been doing my own pictures over the past few years my interest in photography has increased. I have a Canon Rebel XT no extras just the standard camera. Would love to have to opportunity to expand and do more with having a better lens.

  434. April Alsup on September 14, 2011 at 10:10 am

    1. It would benefit my business because I am in desperate need of a wider angle lens. I love my 50mm, but sometimes I just don’t have the room I need. 2. I love to shoot with my 50mm, but I also enjoy 35mm in some situations.3. I “like” MCP Actions on FB, but I LOVE it in real life ;o)

  438. Melissa Mertz on September 14, 2011 at 10:10 am

    1. The only lenses I have are a 18-105mm kit lens and a 50 mm 1.8. Winning this lens would be a huge benefit to my photography because it would let me have a nice, big aperture for lovely bokeh while at the same time giving me the option of wide angle or a little zoom. 2. I don’t really have a favorite focal length yet. I use my 50mm a lot because it’s fast, but it does require that I be pretty far from my subject, which is hard when you’re doing a newborn shoot in someone’s home. I really like the flexibility of a zoom lens so that I’m not restricted to just one focal length. 3. I already “like” MCP Actions on FB. Thanks!

  439. Kelly on September 14, 2011 at 10:10 am

I would LOVE to win this lens! I was so excited to see this contest on your Facebook post. With that said, I am so glad I already like you on there. Glad to be able to know about your wonderful contest and amazing and informative posts. 1) I would benefit from the range of this magnificent lens since the bulk of my photography is of kids. The fixed lens is sharp but harder to work with on very active kids. Plus the 2.8 is great for indoor shots. 2) I only have a 50mm so that is currently my favorite range. 3) I already like you on Facebook. Thanks again for this wonderful contest!

Because I work for a newspaper, I have to be prepared for any lighting situation, which means I need fast lenses. With this lens, I could continue to build my portfolio and the wide shots it so desperately needs.I love shooting with my 28mmI already like MCP Actions on FB and subscribed to the RSS feed today!

This lens would be an awesome addition:) I don’t have one capable of shooting wider shoots and the diversity of different subjects. My daughter and I are just getting into photography together – she is a teenager but has a wonderful eye for taking a photo and then putting editing tools to work to make it a piece of art. 50mm is our favorite to shoot at right now but we have been trying different focal lengths. Just liked you guys on Facebook and following you on twitter – Thanks for the chance to win!

  471. Aparna E. on September 14, 2011 at 10:14 am

I don’t have the range I need right now! With a kit lens, it’s not fast enough or open enough at the widest aperture. With the telephoto, I’m too close! I need the mid-range with wide aperture and the wide angle would be great to help me with portraits, landscape and night photography!

  472. Nikki Morrow on September 14, 2011 at 10:15 am

1.) This lens would be fantastic for me because I photograph a lot of children. Having a faster lens would be a dream come true!2.) I have a 50mm prime lens that I shoot with most of the time (and I love it!)3.) I was already a fan on FB but I went to confirm! Thanks for the chance at a fantastic giveaway!

  473. RaChelle Squibb on September 14, 2011 at 10:15 am

First off…I love Tamron! I have one of there lenses and it never leaves my camera. With that being said….my lens is not this wide. I really could benefit by having this wide angle lens. There are many times that I have had to grab my kit lens because I need a wider view. This would help me out so much! As for my favorite focal length….it’s probably 75 because I do a lot of portraits. And lastly, I DO like “love” MCP on fb!

  474. Kellie Munro on September 14, 2011 at 10:15 am

OHHHHH ~ this lens is the bomb! I’ve been eye balling it for a while :)I typically shoot with prime lenses, so this would help me step out of the box.I love the 50mm length, but so many times I’d like my shot wider, so what better lens than this! And of course I already “like” MCP actions 😉

  475. Aparna E. on September 14, 2011 at 10:15 am

Right now my go-to lens is the nifty fifty for Canon. The 50mm offers that wide aperture and works great for portraits. But it’s a fixed focal length, so I’d love to be able to get in closer sometimes!

How would this lens benefit your photography?–Well, the only thing wider than 50 that I own is a really really old kit lens. Its scratched up and everything. I’m saving money for something wider–like this one :)What is your favorite focal length to shoot?–I use a 50mm and an 85mm and I’m in love with both. Just depends on what I need them for. I use the 50mm the most, though.Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior)–I like MCP Actions on facebook!

    1. To date, I’ve been a prime lens kinda gal (35mm, 50mm, etc.). Would be highly beneficial to stick a single lens on for those fast moving toddlers rather than trying to change out and lose that short window where they’re agreeable to photos.2. 50mm3. Confirmed

  487. Lisa Lovely on September 14, 2011 at 10:17 am

I own a few lenses, but the one that I am missing from my collection is the 28-75 for Canon! It would be amazing to own that lens, it would complete my collection for weddings and that lens would help me with more of my detail shots. Right now I use my 35L for details. My favorite lens to shoot is my 70-200 IS on my Mark II, but I’ve always wanted to try the 28-75. I “Like” MCP actions on my FB page and have shared this link there! I constantly use MCP actions for my editing process as well, favorites being One Click Color and High Def Sharpening and I always use the blog it boards for my blog posts. 🙂 Pick me, pick me!

    1. I’m trying to re-learn everything I can about photography, since it’s been a while since I did anything with it 🙂 I’d like to be able to get into maternity/baby/toddler photos at some point and this looks like it would be a great lens to have on hand!2. 50mm is what I usually shoot at right now.3. I’ve liked MCP actions on Facebook and I visit your website at least once a week 🙂

How would this lens benefit your photography?I am just starting out, so this lens would give me additional flexibility. It would blow away my other lenses, based on the test shots! What is your favorite focal length to shoot?I use my 50mm lens a lot right now. It isn’t an ideal fit, I’d prefer a zoom, but it’s what I’ve got. Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook :Of course I do 🙂 Been on the page for ages 🙂

    1) This lens would allow me the ability to have a faster, sharper lens than my kit lens while allowing more options than my 85mm2) I love my 85mm for it’s quality but actually like the 35-50mm range for distance3) I “like” you on Facebook

Hey guys! I saw this link in my Facebook feed. Since I “liked” MCP Actions last year I’ve seen many awesome works come through here!(I’ll confirm my “like” by liking this post on your feed) When I saw the lens giveaway, my jaw dropped. Literally. I shoot with a Nikon S lens-50mm F/1.8. I love it! But it’s not ideal for shooting with kids who squiggle to and fro especially when your feet are the “zoom” on the lens! I really hope hope hope with all my heart heart heart that I win this!!!

I would love this lens — 1. This lens would allow me to be far more wide open at wider angles. I used to have a 35 f/1.8 and I traded it for a 50 mm f/1.4 — I really miss the 35 mm because sometimes the 50 is just too close — this lens would let me have more range!2. I must say I love shooting at the extremes — 20-35 mm and then again 125-150 mm —

  496. Megan Hein on September 14, 2011 at 10:19 am

    1) this Iens would challenge me to shoot at a wider angle 🙂 and I have never owned a Tamron, so I would be excited for the opportunity to try one out!2) my favorite focal length is 50mm on my prime lens!3) I “like” MCP on facebook!!!

Hello! I would love to have this lens, I am a venezuelan professional photographer and since we have a control exchange we canŒÇt not buy with dollars so lenses are very, very, very expensive and difficult to find here, that is why I will love to have this lens.My favorite focal length to shoot should be 50mm. and I like -love MCP Actions on Facebook, since they give very nice info, and offer so good actions. 😀

How would this lens benefit your photography? This lens would add amazing versatility to my newest shooting adventures. After having my two children (youngest just started Kindergarten this year) and shooting mainly portraiture work, I recently started shooting Taekwondo testings and the action aspect has been fun and very challenging. The Vibration compensation plus the 2.8 would really benefit the tight spaces I have to work around while shooting TKD testings or competitions where there is low light, no flash and wall to wall people. What is your favorite focal length to shoot?I still love shooting my action with the 28-200 Tamron zoom that I’ve had forever, but I’m definitely in need of an upgrade. Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior)I don’t just “LIKE” MCP I LOVE MCP! I will request a LOVE button to the facebook people. lol! A friend of mine “liked” you on her facebook and so I did the same. So glad I did! I’ve already purchased Actions and adore the free actions you have. thank you for all the help in tutorials you provide and the wonderful articles. This has definitely helped me get back in the swing of things after the kids, and I’m EXCITED to shoot! Thank you so much!

  513. Jared H. on September 14, 2011 at 10:23 am

I shoot a lot of stuff in low light so it would be great to have a faster lens, not to mention it would be perfect for my trip I’m going on next month. I would love to win this lens. I have just started my photography business and don’t have a lot of funds to put into new lenses. This lens would be perfect for my type of photography as I do not have a lens with this short of focal length at this time. Currently my favorite lens is the 50mm f/2.8. I have been a fan of MCP Actions for a long time. I have also shared this link on facebook, and also added the banner. Thank you!

    1. This lens would replace my current kit zoom, which is jammed and can only move if I turn the camera upside down, stand on one foot, and stick out my tongue.2. I shoot a lot now with my 50mm since the zoom is all jammed up and I don’t trust it anymore. Therefore I have lots of close-ups and detail shots, but way too little variety in framing and composition. 3. I’m definitely a fan of MCP on FB and have learned a lot from the blog posts!

My favorite focal range is from 28 – 35mm (on a dx sensor) the wider the aperture the better, love smooth, creamy bokeh for portraits.I am a disabled vet on a very tight budget, I rented a Nikon 17 – 55 f2.8 that I paired with a D90 body + battery grip and a new sb700 flash for one of my weddings this summer. After taking comparison shots with the lens on my D70s I could barely tell the difference between the 2 images using the loupe view in Lightroom. My current equipment is the following:Nikon D70, D70sNikon 50mm 1.8dNikon 55 – 200mm VrNikon 18 – 70mm 3.5 – 4.5(2) sb600 flashes(4) 800 watt / second studio strobes with battery pack and all the goodies.I rented the equipment to do some good hands on testing before I hopefully get to purchase some equipment upgrades for next wedding season. After using the lens on the d90 and d70s I know now what my next investment will be, good, fast glass. Having this lens will greatly increase the quality of my work and enable me to provide my clients with heirloom quality prints to share for generations to come.I follow MCP actions on my fan page on FB (DFX Photography),as well as my personal page. I have also shared this give away on both pages walls. I would also like to thank you for providing great free actions and tutorials. thank you for your time and considerationRespectfully yours,Sid MeederDFX PhotographyBelow is one of the images I captured with the 17 – 55mm on the D90.

This is a great prize. I too am just starting out and don’t have the money to invest in more lenses just yet. I am definitely a wide angle girls but still like to revert back to the good old 50mm. This would be a huge time saver and would give me more flexibility in getting some creative shots. I have a Nikon 28 2.8 and, even though I shoot primarily portraits, it really works with my style. I wish it was a higher quality lens but I make it work. I already like your page, visit your blog often for so much valuable information and have purchased your mcp fusion set, which I use regularly.

I believe this lens the 17-50mm would benefit me, in so many ways. for starters My landscapes, then my family photography, my portraits, my daughter is always on the run, but also other kids too, my husband’s whose other life is cars, and so much more. This would be an awesome collection next to my one and only lens the 50 mm. My current fave focal lengths to shoot is the 50 mm, but when I got the chance to rent the 35 mm that blew my mind away too! I am currently liking MCP on Fb and subscribed for updates! This by far is one of the best photography blogs I follow!

    1. HOW WOULD THIS LENS BENEFIT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY? Oddly perfect timing for this question. About a year ago I picked up Sigma’s version of Canon’s f/2.8 24-70… it’s not the Sigma that’s doing it, it’s the lens itself. First of all, I hate the focal range… almost seems pointless. Second, I can go to almost any other lens in my bag and shoot the same thing… 24-70 seems like an arbitrary focal range… and since it’s most often used as a portrait lens, f/2.8 – while fantastic – seems like a waste here. NOW, what I have been wanting (heh, since I picked up that damn 24-70) is a 17-50, oddly enough. My FAVORITE lens is my f/1.2L 50mm prime lense… despite what long-time studio junkies may have to say, you can use this lens in any situation, for any reason, for any subject and in any light…. and yes, that includes studio. Ever messed around with a FAST shutter and a shallow-as-hell aperture – the possibilities are INCREDIBLE! I like the versatility of the 17mm (I do a fair amount of real estate and legal photography and fitting into tiny rooms in their entirety is absolutely crucial… 17mm doesn’t distort like my 14-20… and getting that nice f/2.8 on a lens that has a focal range of 17-50 = HEAVEN!!!2. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOCAL LENGTH TO SHOOT? I did mention before that my favorite go-to lens is a 50mm prime, but if I had my way I’m thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of 35mm-60mm – ridiculously versatile (heh, once again, unlike the 24-70… and before I get my ass handed to me, I KNOW a lot of ya’ll out there LOVE LOVE LOVE that 24-70… different strokes, I respect it, but personally – not for me! … this lens would fit perfectly in my array of awesomeness that I like to bang it out with (lol), and dropping down to that 17mm is just – once again – insanely awesome.3. CONFIRM THAT YOU “LIKE” MCP ACTIONS ON FACEBOOK “ñ IF YOU DO NOT CONFIRM THIS, YOUR ENTRY WILL NOT COUNT (GO HERE TO “LIKE US” IF YOU HAVE NOT PRIOR)I’ve been liking MCP actions on Facebook for quite some time now… and believe you me, on every blog/website/profile I have… I make that know, ya’ll rock!

1.How would this lens benefit your photography? The wide angle part of it would help me capture larger families or just capture the background with my subjects. 2.What is your favorite focal length to shoot?I’m always shooting up close so I would say 50mm.3.Confirm that you “like” MCP Actions on Facebook “ñ if you do not confirm this, your entry will NOT count (go here to “like us” if you have not prior) DONE!

1.This lens would help me a ton with the Military homecomings, and births I photograph!! I would love a wider angle so that in low light situations which there are a lot of it would be so much better quality for these situations! 2. The lens I use all the time is 35mm fixed lens and I do love it for portraits but a wider angle would be really awesome!3. I LOVE you on FB! http://www.facebook.com/mcpfans?sk=app_217182794970471

I would benefit from this lens because it’s sooo different from anything I have in my bag right now–I would love to get creative with this kind of lens!My favorite focal length to shoot right now is probably either 50 or 85 depending on my location, and that’s exactly why I’m so excited about this lens–I love the challenge of something new because to always lend to a new creative landmark for me!And yes, I “like” MCP on Facebook and subscribe to the blog! Thank you!

Oh the thought of having this lens… :)This lens would benefit my photography SO much! All I have are the nifty fifty, and the 75-300, so the wider angle is something that I really badly need! Right now my favourite focal length would be 50mm, but I am DYING to try something wider.Third, I most certainly ‘like’ you on facebook, that is how I found out about this awesome contest!

This lens will give me MUCH more variety and ability to do more with my compositions!I tend to use 80-100 because I want to get shallow range of focusI’ve liked this page for months now and am so glad I found this site!

    1) this lens would greatly benefit my photography. i am a little over a few years in the art of the business and always looking for tips and tricks to make my work more unique. although i mainly shoot portraits, i also do some volunteer shoots for events for charities and feel this lens would be my go to lens. i currently do not own a lens similar to this one and feel like it could greatly benefit my work and expand my work into a whole new class. 2) my favorite focal length i would say is around 75mm. but could change at any moment!3) i am a fan of MCP Actions on facebook and find your site ever so helpful. 4) i do really want to win this lens, so i am sharing you on my site now and subscribing to your RSS feed!
