XSories has introduced the Weye Feye, a WiFi remote controller for DSLRs, allowing smartphone users to control their cameras from a distance of up to 80 meters.

Controlling a DSLR using a smartphone or a tablet is easier these days. More and more cameras feature built-in WiFi technology, so it is fairly easy to leave your camera in the middle of the action and capture photos from a safe distance.

Nevertheless, a lot of shooters still do not have this ability and if they do, then users will not be able to properly control it as they cannot modify all the settings. Moreover, the latency between what the camera sees and what is displayed on the smartphone’s screen is quite big.

XSories has a solution for all of these problems and it has called it Weye Feye. This WiFi device can be connected to a broad range of Nikon and Canon cameras using a cable provided in the package.

After that, Android and iOS users will have to install an app on their smartphones and tablets. This way, they can connect to the Weye Feye via WiFi and then photographers will be able to see what is in front of the lens in Live View mode on their mobile gadgets.

Weye Feye measures 83 x 45 x 16.5mm. It is powered by a 2,000mAh battery, which can last up to 8 hours depending on usage. The device has a WiFi signal distance of up 80 meters, but this depends on environment conditions.

Weye Feye controls settings required for proper exposure

XSories’ new accessory can be used for controlling a DSLR’s exposure settings, such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance among others.

The company says that the Weye Feye has the world’s shortest latency of just 0.2 seconds. This will allow photographers to see the frame faster, therefore making sure that they will never miss the shot.

The manufacturer added that this feature is useful for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers, but professional and amateur lensmen will definitely appreciate it, too.

XSories Weye Feye release date and price details

XSories will release the Weye Feye for £199 in the UK as of October 2013. Availability in the rest of Europe is expected for September 2013 at a price of €249.

The WiFi remote controller will support DSLRs from Nikon and Canon, such as D5100 / D300 / D300S / D600 / D700 / D800 / D7000 / D90 and 5D Mark II / 5D Mark III / 6D / 7D / 50D / 60D / 450D / 600D / 650D, respectively.
