Two press organizations found infringing photo-copyrights
Manhattan District Judge, Alison Nathan, ruled that Agence France-Presse and The Washington Post have infringed on the copyrights of photographer Daniel Morel. The two press agencies were found guilty of using Daniel Morel’s twitted photographs without his permission. The case is one of the first that centers on the copyrights of public shared images.

8 million flee in Instagram exodus
Facebook-owned Instagram has registered an 8 million-user drop after its December Terms of Service fiasco. AppStats has registered a 50% drop in Instagram user activity between December 17, 2012, and January 10, 2013, suggesting that users are really unhappy with the social network’s new ToS.
Nikon ViewNX 2.7.1 software update now available for download
Nikon has released a minor update for its browsing, editing, and sharing software. ViewNX 2.7.1 is now available for download. The Japanese company has also released the full changelog, which states that the latest version adds support for three of the latest Nikon-branded cameras.
Polaroid Instant Camera app released for iPhone users
Polaroid updated its Instant Camera application in order to added support for iPhone and iPod Touch users. The app, which provides a complete Polaroid film experience with audio and visual effects, can be downloaded by iPhone 5 owners, too, from the official App Store.

Several press agencies have joined forces for an aggressive judicial review over UK’s government plans to change the copyright laws. The consortium – that includes Associated Press, Getty Images, Reuters, Press Association, and the Federation of Commercial and Audiovisual Libraries – brings up the fact that the plans are without basis and should be under full Parliament scrutiny.
Canon Experience Stores opening tomorrow alongside EOS 70D DSLR?
More details have been revealed about the imminent launch of the first Canon Experience Store. The company will open its first store in Calgary, Canada where Canon is also preparing a couple of surprises consisting of a new DSLR camera and lens. The rumor mill says that the former is actually the EOS 60D replacement.

Nikon patents hybrid optical and electronic viewfinder
Nikon has filed for a viewfinder switch, which can toggle between optical and electronic viewfinders. The new hybrid viewfinder technology will become available in DSLR cameras soon, as Nikon will try to compete against Fujifilm’ cameras with this feature, such as the flagship X-Pro1 mirrorless shooter.
Broken Night horror movie, filmed with Nikon D800, released online
The Broken Night short horror movie is now available online. Internet users can watch the film, shot entirely with the Nikon D800, but the viewers discretion is advised as the movie is not intended for the faint of heart. The movie has been directed by Guillermo Arriaga, a well-known writer-director, who won the BAFTA Best Screenplay Award.
