Canon remains top Japanese company in US patent rankings
One thing that shows the dedication for research and innovation is the amount of patents filed by a company. Canon remained the top Japanese patent filer in the United States for the eighth consecutive year. The company filed for 3,174 patents in the US, outpacing its Japan-based competitors, such as Sony.
First Canon Experience Store to be opened next week?
Canon is trying to get closer to its fans by offering them a complete hands-on experience. An inside source has confirmed that Canon is going to open its first Experience Store in the following days, while many other stores are currently being planned to be released in the coming years.
Jessops fall into administration brings Canon and Nikon reactions
Just a few days passed after UK-based photographic retail shop Jessops entered into administration on January 9, and two of the biggest camera producers have already commented on the situation. Canon is disappointed by Jessops situation while Nikon aids repairs on its gear bought through Jessops’ retail stores.
New Canon LEGRIA HF G25 camcorder announced
Canon introduced a new camcorder to replace the older HF G10 in the high-end camcorder segment. It is called Legria HF G25 and it is packing some serious hardware, so it should serve as an alarm signal to Canon’s competitors in the camcorder department, like Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, and Toshiba.
Canon expands Cinema Prime Lens family
Canon announced the introduction of two new lenses for its Cinema EOS Prime Lens line. The new CN-E 14mm T3.1 L F and CN-E 135mm T2.2 L F single-focal-length lenses are built especially for high-quality video recording at 4K and 2K resolutions. The new optics offer improved features that will meed the demands of EOS videographers.
Is Canon EOS-1D C that different from its X bearing sibling?
Canon may have introduced high-end DSLR cameras, but one of them is aimed at photographers, while the other is designed for videographers. They are the 1D X and, respectively, 1D C. As the two devices look similar on the outside and on the inside, we are trying to find out what’s the REAL difference between EOS-1D C and EOS-1D X?!
Canon PowerShot N unveiled at CES 2013
Driven by the rise of importance of social media networks in our lives, Canon has announced a solution that allows us to capture high-quality photos and to share them on Facebook. It goes by the name of PowerShot N and it employs a 12-megapixel sensor along with integrated WiFi connectivity.
Canon IXUS 140, PowerShot A3500 IS, A2600 and A1400 announced
After unveiling the PowerShot N point-and-shoot camera, Canon took its time to reveal four new compact cameras called IXUS 140, PowerShot A3500 IS, A2600 and A1400. The Canon IXUS 140 will be called ELPH 130 IS in the United States and Canada and will be released on the market soon.
Canon EF 24-70mm f/4.0L IS USM lens released with a $1,499 price tag
Canon has unveiled a new standard zoom lens for full-frame EOS-series DSLR cameras. The new optic consists of the EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM, thus being the company’s first 24-70mm with a built-in optical image stabilization system. The lens’ availability details have been confirmed, too, and here they are!
