Adobe Lightroom 5 beta available for free download now
Adobe has officially released Lightroom 5 beta for download. The image processing tool is available on Windows and Mac OS X computers. It can be downloaded for free, though the final version will come at a cost later this year. Lightroom 5 beta is offering new tools, which provide improved photo editing capabilities.
Google Glass Explorer edition specs officially revealed
Google has announced that the Glass Explorer edition is now shipping to some lucky users. The search giant has taken the wraps off the specifications list, revealing that the wearable computer is packing a 5-megapixel camera, which can record 720p videos. A MyGlass companion app is also available for Android 4.0.3 users.
NPPA and APA join copyright lawsuit against Google Books
The National Press Photographers Association and The American Photographic Artists organization have joined 15 other plaintiffs in a lawsuit against Google Books. The community hopes that this will improve photographers’ copyrights, which have been neglected in a previous court settlement.
SITTP announces Street Photography 2013 contest winners
The Society of International Travel and Tourism Photographers (SITTP) has chosen the winners of its Street Photography 2013 contest. The judges faced a tough task, considering the fact that more than 1,100 photos have been submitted, but, in the end, the first place has been awarded to photographer Agnieszka Furtak.
Samsung NX2000 Tizen / Android camera passes through the FCC
Samsung’s NX2000 smart camera has been leaked once again. This time, the Android or Tizen-powered shooter is seeking the approval of the Federal Communications Commission, in order to be able to use its WiFi 802.11n chipset. The mirrorless camera will feature a 20.3-megapixel sensor and should be released in the coming weeks.
Fujifilm XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS lens coming on April 17
Fujifilm is looking to expand its Fujinon lineup with a pair of lenses. One of them will be officially announced on April 17 during a special event and this is the XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS lens, which is rumored to be unveiled this week, while the XF 27mm f/2.8 pancake lens should be revealed by the end of June 2013.
Sony CyberShot DSC-HX50V to be announced on April 26
Sony will launch a new camera in late April, says an inside source. The company’s fans should get excited over this, as the source does not mention the NEX-7n mirrorless shooter, which has previously been rumored to be announced by the end of April. However, the Japan company will definitely reveal the HX50V, a compact camera with WiFi.
Kodak sells document imaging business to Brother Industries
Kodak is continuing its restructuring process by selling the assets of its document imaging business to Brother Industries. The printer manufacturer has agreed to buy Kodak’s document-related affairs for an amount of $210 million. This will allow the digital camera maker to stay afloat and emerge out of bankruptcy in mid-2013.

Architecture and interior design firm, Conran and Partners, has been asked to choose an object that would require a redesign. The company’s Senior Product Designer, Jared Mankelow, has chosen the camera. Conran has also revealed its retro camera concept, which puts most of the current camera technologies in a small package.
JFK’s life remembered through rare Jacques Lowe photographs
Fifty years have passed since President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Jacques Lowe’s iconic images of JFK’s life have now been pulled from the 9/11 ashes, to be given back to the American history. The “Creating Camelot” exhibition premieres at the Newseum today, on view through January 5, 2014.
Samsung NX2000 Android camera photo leaked on the web
An image of an unannounced Samsung camera has been leaked online. The device appears to be powered by the Android operating system and an image sensor with a higher-megapixel count than that of the original Galaxy Camera. The leak is suggesting that the Samsung NX2000 release date is getting closer and closer.
New Canon 5D Mark III firmware update spotted at NAB Show 2013
