Sony CyberShot DSC-HX50V to be announced on April 26

Sony is preparing to reveal a new CyberShot camera by the end of April. The new DSC-HX50V will reportedly be a higher-end compact camera with WiFi and GPS.

The late April period is announcing itself as a very busy time frame. A lot of companies are rumored to come forth and unveil new products over the following couple of weeks. One of these companies is Sony, which is working on a new higher-end CyberShot camera.

Sony’s upcoming DSC-HX50V camera is said to have a similar design to the DSC-HX20 one, albeit the new shooter will be slightly bigger. A 20-megapixel image sensor is said to power the camera, along with WiFi and GPS support.

Sony CyberShot DSC-HX50V alleged announcement date is April 26

An inside source has confirmed that the Japan-based company is holding a product launch event later this month and, to be more specific, the event is scheduled for April 26. For the time being, Sony has not officially planned any shows, but the company will likely reveal the full details right before April 26.

The source claims that the Sony CyberShot DSC-HX50V is the name of the compact camera that will make a cameo on that date. Additionally, the leakster has unearthed some of the shooter’s specifications, which point toward a higher-end device.

Sources were not too shy about the compact camera’s specs list

The Sony HX50V will feature a 20-megapixel CMOS image sensor with 30x optical zoom lens, full HD video recording at 50p, built-in WiFi, GPS, and an improved Optical Steady Shot technology.

Moreover, the digital camera will employ a multi interface shoe (MI shoe) and en EV dial, along with a shutter and iris diaphragm. The specs sheet concludes with ED and ER glass-based lens, while the aforementioned stabilization technology is said to be two times better than its predecessor.

The new compact camera is reported to feature a design similar to the CyberShot DSC-HX20/30 one, though it will be slightly bigger than that.

Sony NEX-7n and other lenses coming as well?

Other products are expected at the event, but Sony fans should not hold their breath over it.

One camera, which has been mentioned in the past, is the Sony NEX-7n. The mirrorless shooter is said to be unveiled anytime now and April 26 would prove to be a good opportunity.

Anyway, the Sony CyberShot DSC-HX50V should become available for a price of €420, while its release date remains unknown.
