Canon remains top Japanese company in US patent rankings
One thing that shows the dedication for research and innovation is the amount of patents filed by a company. Canon remained the top Japanese patent filer in the United States for the eighth consecutive year. The company filed for 3,174 patents in the US, outpacing its Japan-based competitors, such as Sony.

Canon is trying to get closer to its fans by offering them a complete hands-on experience. An inside source has confirmed that Canon is going to open its first Experience Store in the following days, while many other stores are currently being planned to be released in the coming years.

New Nikon J3 and S1 mirrorless cameras are not using an AA filter
Nikon is not using an anti-aliasing filter in its latest mirrorless cameras, called J3 and S1. Giotto’s tripods get 30% slimmer than previous ones
Giotto’s has launched its brand new design tripods that enable users to save up to 30% more space than the previous series. According to Giotto’s website, the twelve new Silk Road YTL Series tripods are going to replace the MTL series tripods, launched in 2008. They feature a newly patented Y-shaped central column that keeps the legs closer packed.
Fujifilm X100S and X20 listed for pre-order at B&H
Fujifilm announced the X100S and X20 cameras at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013. The former is a high-end retro style compact camera continuing the tradition of the X100, while the latter is a point-and-shoot camera, meant to be a successor to the X10, both being premium X-series shooters.

Ambarella sets free the 4K UltraHD format onto consumer market
Ambarella has launched today at the new A9 SoC (System on a Chip) camera, designed especially for the consumer market. The new camera is capable of recording videos at 4K resolution, thus putting 4K technology and slow-motion movies into the hands of the masses at reduced costs.
