Canon 6D firmware update to be released in May or June
Canon will release several firmware updates for its cameras by the end of 2013. The company has already released updates for plenty of its cameras and three more are scheduled to become available in the following months. However, there is room for one more as the rumor mill says the EOS 6D will also be updated soon.
Canon 70D finally coming on March 21 or 22
Canon may have finally decided to issue a direct replacement for the EOS 60D. The next-generation camera will most likely be called 70D. An inside source has confirmed that Canon will hold a press event on March 21, while another source has revealed that the new camera is actually coming on March 22.
Canon 7D Mark II to be announced in late summer or early fall
Canon is finally going to replace the aging EOS 7D, says the rumor mill. The new camera is described as a “baby EOS 1D X” and, most likely, will go by the name of 7D Mark II, when it will be unveiled later this year. Information is still scarce, but the new camera is rumored to be aimed at sports and wildlife photographers.
Nikon Coolpix A becomes the world’s first DX-format compact camera
Nikon has finally bridged the gap between DSLR and compact cameras with the help of the new Coolpix A shooter. This is the world’s first compact camera to feature a DX-format CMOS sensor. Nikon reveals Coolpix L320 16-megapixel superzoom camera
Nikon has unveiled its next-generation superzoom compact camera in the body of the Coolpix L320. This new bridge camera offers an impressive 26x optical zoom, which is said to be perfect for most shooting situations. The Nikon L320 offers a 35mm equivalent of 22.5–585mm focal length range and will become available soon.
Sony and Olympus to announce new cameras soon?
Sony will release a new mirrorless camera in the following weeks. The shooter is rumored to feature a full-frame image sensor. Moreover, Olympus is also said to be on the verge of announcing a new camera. It appears a new Micro Four Thirds system will be unveiled this April, with an expected shipping date of June / July 2013.
Panasonic SZ5 and SZ9 firmware update 1.1 available for download now
Panasonic has chosen March 2013 as the perfect month to release firmware updates for several of its cameras. The Japan-based company has launched firmware update 1.1 for both the DMC-SZ5 and DMC-SZ9, while the Lumix GH3 and three lenses are scheduled to receive a software upgrade by the end of March.
Canon 70D to be announced at the end of March?
Canon is preparing a surprise announcement at the end of March. According to sources familiar with the matter, the Japan-based company will finally replace the EOS 60D with the 70D. Sony has decided to take the wraps off the SLT-A58 camera.
