The first set of Sony A9 specs have been leaked on the web, revealing that the high-end E-mount mirrorless camera with a full frame sensor will be able to capture 46-megapixel photos and to output 4K videos.
It is becoming quite obvious that Sony is working on a high-end FE-mount camera. The shooter will reportedly be unveiled sometime in the first months of next year as a device aimed at professional photographers, in order to compete with the big guns from Canon and Nikon.
Before its announcement, an insider has leaked a scarce list of possible specifications, which could make their way into the mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. Among the Sony A9 specs, we may find a 46-megapixel sensor and 4K video output.

Sony A7R is currently offering the highest resolution within the FE-mount line-up. This status will be taken by the Sony A9, which will employ a 46-megapixel sensor.
Sony A9 specs list shows up online, hints at 46-megapixel sensor
Sony has big plans for its line-up of E-mount cameras with full frame image sensors. A higher-end model, when compared to the A7 series, is coming fairly soon and it will capture 46-megapixel photos.
The sensor will be based on Bayer-like technology and will be capable of outputting videos at 4K resolution. This situation is similar to the A7S one, an FE-mount shooter that can record 4K videos with the help of an external recorder.
Its high-end status will be ensured by weathersealing, allowing photographers to keep taking photos when the environmental conditions are not very good.
Such big resolution will require high-quality lenses, but Sony has already promised that more good optics are coming by the end of 2015.
New pro-grade Sony A9 mirrorless camera could cost around $3,000
The Sony A9 specs list continues with a base ISO sensitivity range between 100 and 25,600, which can be expanded between 50-51,200 using built-in settings.
Previously, it has been said that this mirrorless camera will be marketed as a device for sports and action photography. However, the source says that it will offer a continuous shooting mode of up to 4fps.
This speed is not enough for sports photographers, so it is possible that the previous rumors were referring to a different model or that this information is slightly off the mark. Either way, the Sony A9 price tag will circle around the $3,000 mark.
An exact release date has not been revealed, but the mirrorless camera is most likely coming sometime in the first part of next year.
