On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, a temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War. Commemorated as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.
In the US Veteran’s Day is a day to honor those, past and present, who have served to maintain our freedoms and way of life. As the spouse of a veteran, Veteran’s Day holds special meaning. This week’s challenge was to snap a photo commemorating those who serve. These are some of the Project MCP Team’s favorites from this week’s Flickr gallery:

Next week, the US and Canada will celebrate Thanksgiving. While there will be lots of family and friends, food and fun, the Project MCP Team would like everyone to take a minute and reflect on what they are thankful for (and of course snap a few perfect shots). Make sure to share your images in the Flickr gallery by Friday, November 23rd in order to be considered for next week’s highlights post! We cannot wait to see your shots.
We want to thank our corporate sponsors for Project MCP:

Canadian Thanksgiving (or as Robin from “How I Met Your Mother” would say “real Thanksgiving”) 😉 was in Occtober. I hate to be “that poster” but seriously, it’s been that way since the 50s.
