Canon has patented a couple of new lenses, the EF 35mm f/1.4L USM II and the EF-M 55-250mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM, which could be announced sometime in the near future.
Throughout 2013, the rumor mill claimed that Canon was preparing to launch a replacement for the EF 35mm f/1.4L USM lens. The release date was supposed to be scheduled for sometime in 2014, which was said to be the year of the lenses.
Unfortunately, the optic has not appeared so far and inside sources have recently claimed that the product will be introduced in 2015.

As the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 is nearing, a Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM II lens patent has showed up on the web, disclosing a possible internal design of the product.
This optic is joined by another model, aimed at EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras, with a focal range of 55-250mm and a maximum aperture of f/4.5-6.3.
Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM II lens patent leaked on the web
One of the older lenses aimed at full-frame EOS cameras, which is in need of a replacement, is the EF 35mm f/1.4L USM. As stated above, there have been several reports that a successor is in development and that it is coming soon.
These gossip talks are finally backed-up by a patent, referring to a 35mm lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.4. Moreover, the glass comes with the “L” designation and with a USM focus motor.
The Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM II lens patent is describing a product with a minimum focusing distance of 30 centimeters and a total length of 129.16mm.
According to the rumor mill, a new version of this model will be released in 2015 alongside a 50mm lens. Meanwhile, the current EF 35mm f/1.4L USM lens is available at Amazon for about $1,300 following a $150 rebate.

Canon patents EF-M 55-250mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens for EOS M mirrorless cameras
The second recently patented lens by Canon is the EF-M 55-250mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM. This might be weird for industry watchers who are aware that the company has released a similar product in mid-2014.
The EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM has been introduced this year for EOS M mirrorless cameras. However, the manufacturer may feel like the telephoto end may not be long enough, so it could push things up to 250mm.
Additionally, Canon is offering a 55-250mm lens for EF-S-mount DSLRs, so the company may want to provide a similar focal range for its mirrorless cameras sometime in early 2015. The lens will offer a 35mm focal length equivalent of 88-400mm.
