The Tokina AT-X 24-70mm f/2.8 PRO FX lens has been listed at a major store in the US, sparking rumors that this standard zoom lens will finally be announced at CP+ 2015.

Tokina has shown multiple prototypes of one of its lenses at several digital imaging events. The AT-X 24-70mm f/2.8 lens is said to be a standard zoom lens aimed at professional photographers using full frame cameras. It was on-display at CP+ 2014 and at Photokina 2014 among others, but it has not been introduced officially, yet.

It appears that its time has finally come as the lens has been listed at B&H PhotoVideo, a major retailer in the US which is selling photo, video, and audio equipment.

It is common for digital camera and lens makers to reveal prototypes of their products at various consumer events. However, it is uncommon for a product to be shown at as many events as the Tokina AT-X 24-70mm f/2.8 PRO FX lens without getting an official announcement for such a long time.

A lot of photographers have been asking the Japan-based company for details about this standard zoom lens, but they have not received many responses to include its release date.

Their wait could be coming to an end in the near future, as the product is currently being listed at B&H PhotoVideo. Although it does not have a price tag or an estimated date of arrival, its listing is suggesting that the optic will be announced officially within a few days.

As the Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2015 is opening its doors on February 12, the Tokina AT-X 24-70mm f/2.8 PRO FX lens might be introduced at this event once and for all.

B&H PhotoVideo is listing the Tokina AT-X 24-70mm f/2.8 PRO FX lens for Canon and Nikon full frame DSLRs. However, it will be compatible with DSLRs featuring APS-C-sized sensors from Canon and Nikon.

For now, it is unclear whether or not the company is planning to bring this model to other mounts, so we should not draw any conclusions.

This standard zoom lens will offer a bright maximum aperture of f/2.8 that will be constant throughout the zoom range.
