Are you lost when it comes to layers? Are you confused as to when to use an adjustment layer, a new blank layer, a duplicate layer, and other types of layers? Well if so, today I am a guest on the Digital Photography School Blog. I did a beginner level tutorial that explains when and how to create each kind of layer.
So go check the MCP Actions tutorial on DPS. Here is a link to the UNDERSTANDING LAYERS in Photoshop post.

Jodi, I’m really enjoying your blog–I check in daily! I love the tips & contests that you run.
Jodi….things like this are SO helpful. I have taught myself photoshop, so I know how to do things, but not always the BEST way, or the EASIEST way. I rarely used adjustment layers and OMG, this is saving me so much time in the few images I have retouched today! Thank you SO much. Carrie
Are you reading my mind? I was just thinking last night….I need to ask Jodi to EXPLAIN When to use these! LOL!
Holy Moly. Just when I thought my bookmark list couldn’t get any longer! Great explanation, Jodi. I realized that I was relying too heavily on cmd-J and I need to use adjustment layers more. You are the bomb!
