Sony and Panasonic announcing new mirrorless cameras in early April

Sony and Panasonic announcing new mirrorless cameras in early April

Sony and Panasonic will hold separate product announcement events at the beginning of April 2013.

Sony is rumored to hold a special event on April 3, in order to introduce a new mirrorless camera. Also, Panasonic will launch several new Micro Four Thirds cameras on April 9.

These are the latest details coming from gossip talks. However, this is not the first time we have heard such rumors, as the two companies have been said to unveil new digital imaging products for quite some time.

As we are getting closer to the announcement dates, it is natural for the chit-chat to intensify.

Panasonic Lumix G5 to be replaced in early April
Panasonic Lumix G5 might be replaced less than one year after its introduction. A new GF camera should be revealed as well, along with the Sony NEX-7n mirrorless shooter.

Sony NEX-7n finally coming on April 3

According to sources familiar with the matter, Sony will reveal something new on April 3. It may well be the NEX-7n mirrorless camera, which has been mentioned before.

The Sony NEX-7n will feature a brand new 24-megapixel sensor, touchscreen, WiFi, high-resolution electronic viewfinder, improved transmission, better dynamic range capabilities, enhanced Tri-Navi controls, and new Phase Detection AF technology among many others.

Panasonic GF and G Micro Four Thirds cameras TBA on April 9

On the other hand, Panasonic has prepared a couple of new mirrorless cameras for April 9. The shooters will be based on the Micro Four Thirds system and they will be bigger than their ancestors, the GF5 and G5.

The new cameras will be a part of the GF and G series. However, their names as well as their specifications are currently unknown.

Previously, it has been rumored that Panasonic would launch a brand new camera range, but there is no actual information pointing in that direction.

As stated above, the proclamation should take place on April 9, when the bigger and better built cameras will officially see the daylight for the first time.

Events may actually take place during NAB 2013

The two companies have not formally scheduled any events for early April, but the popular National Association Broadcasters Show 2013 takes place next month.

The NAB Show 2013 takes place between April 6 and 11, meaning that only Panasonic fits into the timeframe, with Sony just missing its opportunity.
