New Pentax Q, K-5 II, and K-5 IIs firmware updates released

Pentax has released a pair of firmware updates for the Q mirrorless camera and the K-5 II / K-5 IIs DSLRs, in order to fix a few bugs affecting the users.

Pentax Q has been discontinued in the later part of 2012. However, the camera is still receiving support from its manufacturer, as one firmware update has been released several weeks ago, while another one has become available for download on April 18.

Pentax Q firmware update 1.12
Pentax Q firmware update 1.12 is available for download as of right now and it should fix a problem with the Tone Expression smart filter.

Pentax Q firmware update 1.12 fixes a bug introduced in the previous version

The Pentax Q firmware update 1.12 can be downloaded right now, in order to enhance the general performance of the mirrorless camera. Upon installing the update, photographers should notice that their shooter has become more reliable.

The other part of the changelog says that the Tone Expression filter is being applied correctly as of firmware V1.12. According to Pentax, the previous V1.11 update broke this “Smart Effect”, but the issue has been fixed.

It is worth reminding that the firmware update 1.11 has brought better autofocus performance, along with enhanced stability.

Pentax K-5 II / K-5 IIs firmware update 1.04
Pentax K-5 II / K-5 IIs firmware update 1.04 has been released for download in order to solve the switch operation issue introduced in the previous upgrade.

Moreover, the Pentax K-5 II and K-5 IIs DSLR cameras have been updated to firmware 1.04. The two cameras will become more stable, as a result. Photographers will notice improved general performance when capturing photos with the two shooters.

The Pentax K-5 II / K-5 IIs firmware update 1.04 has been released in order to fix a problem created by a previous upgrade. It appears that FW V1.03 caused the camera not to respond to switching operations when the “Status” screen was being displayed.

The company claims that this issue has been fixed, as well. If the users installed V1.03, respectively V1.11, then they should download the new firmware updates because everything will be fine, as the new versions contain the previous fixes, too.
