Fujifilm is rumored to stop the X-Pro1 production as its replacement, called X-Pro2, will be announced and released sometime in 2014.

The X-Pro1 is the flagship Fujifilm X-mount camera. The mirrorless shooter comes packed with all sorts of exciting features, including a 16-megapixel X-Trans CMOS sensor and a hybrid electronic and optical viewfinder.

It has been released in March 2012 and, since it is the company’s flagship camera, it has not been replaced this year. Well, in early 2014, two years would have passed since its launch, so it would be the perfect timing for Fuji to launch a replacement.

Fujifilm X-Pro1 is rumored to near the end of its life, as the X-Pro2 might be announced in 2014.

Fujifilm rumored to end X-Pro1 production soon, as X-Pro2 rumors start pouring in

Just as the rumor mill was gathering information from sources familiar with the matter, it appears that multiple stores are running out of X-Pro1 units.

The X-mount MILC’s stocks are somewhat low and plenty of customers are claiming that store clerks say that there is no reason to re-stock the device due to the fact that the X-Pro2 will be introduced next year.

This is partly contradictory to the situation in the United States, where the X-Pro1 is doing fine and there are plenty of units available. Moreover, most retailers are not providing any discounts, which could be a testimony that the product in question still has a long life ahead.

X-E1 price did not go down before X-E2’s launch, so the Fujifilm X-Pro2 might come in 2014

Nevertheless, the X-E1 price is still the same at Amazon – $799 – despite the fact that the X-E2 has been unveiled officially and it is coming soon.

The X-Pro1 is still a decent camera, but, if the situation will be similar to that of the X-E1, then potential customers should not expect a price reduction anytime soon, despite the imminent arrival of the Fujifilm X-Pro2.

In the meantime, a little Amazon shopping will not hurt you, where the X-Pro1 is selling for $1,199.
