2015 Pulitzer Prize winners in photography announced

The Columbia University in New York City has announced the 2015 Pulitzer Prize winners in photography with Daniel Berehulak winning the “Feature” category and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch photography staff winning the “Breaking News” category.

The Pulitzer Prize is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world that grants awards for excellence in journalism, photography, literature, and music. The awards have been given yearly since 1917 and now the top winners get a prize of about $10,000.

The winners of the 2015 Pulitzer Prize have just been revealed and the list includes the top honors in photography. There are two categories related to this art: Breaking News and Feature. The former has been won by the staff of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, while the latter has been awarded to Daniel Berehulak, a freelance photographer for The New York Times.

One of the most covered subjects in recent months has been the Ebola outbreak in West Africa which has spread to other areas as well. A photographer documenting the struggles of the people affected by the disease as well as the people who tried to help the sick patients has won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize.

On the other hand, the “Breaking News” category has been won by the excellent coverage of the Ferguson unrest by photography staff of the St. Louis Dispatch-Post.

The photographers working for the St. Louis Dispatch-Post have been commended for their work which has been said to be a service for the community as they have informed the whole country and even the whole world about the anger and the despair of the people protesting in Ferguson, Missouri after the shooting of Michael Brown.

The St. Louis Dispatch-Post photography staff was covering the civil unrest in real-time as their photos were uploaded on the newspaper’s website instantly with the help of WiFi.
