Canon Rebel T6i / 750D and EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens coming soon

Canon is preparing an official announcement event for the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens and a new Rebel DSLR, most likely the EOS 750D / Rebel T6i.

Update (January 27): An insider, who has been right in the past, is claiming that these products will be unveiled on February 6.

As the CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2015 is nearing, we are also approaching the unveiling of important Canon products, as predicted by the rumor mill a long time ago.

Trusted sources are now claiming that the sought-after EF 11-24mm f/4L USM wide-angle zoom lens is among the products that will be revealed soon along with a new Rebel camera.

Canon to announce the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens in the near future

We already know almost everything that there is to know about the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens. Its name was leaked a while ago along with its photo and price details.

This optic will be aimed at professional photographers using full frame EOS DSLRs searching for a wide-angle zoom lens with that will deliver a very high optical quality.

The lens will come with a zoom ring and a focus one, a manual focus switch, and a distance scale. It will bear the L-designation, which means that the image quality will be top-notch, as stated above.

Moreover, its autofocus motor will be an ultrasonic drive, therefore it should offer smooth and silent AF. The price of the optic has been “re-confirmed” by trusted sources, revealing that it will cost somewhere around $3,000, most likely $2,899.

The exact announcement date of the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens is unknown, albeit it will take place within the following days, before the start of CP+ 2015.

The leaked Canon Rebel DSLR camera is rumored to be the Rebel T6i / EOS 750D and to become official within days.

The other product that will be announced during the same event is a new Rebel-series camera. Sources are claiming that the upcoming model is the same shooter as the one leaked by Canon itself in the Connect Station CS100 promotional photos and videos.

The most likely candidate is the Canon Rebel T6i, which will be sold under the name of Canon Kiss X8i in Japan and Canon EOS 750D in the rest of the world.

This line-up is getting a specs upgrade, as a new display will be added on top of the DSLR as well as a switch lever that is more common to the xxD-series.
