The future of Nikon’s mirrorless interchangeable lens system has just been revealed. The company has previously announced the new Nikon 1 V3 camera, which is now joined by a couple of optics.
Two zoom lenses have become official, featuring different focal lengths and becoming available at different price points. The 1 Nikkor VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-Zoom and the 1 Nikkor VR 70-300mm telephoto zoom are both here, but first we should find out what they are offering.
Nikon introduces 1 Nikkor 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 VR PD-Zoom lens with “Power Drive Zoom” support
Nikon 1 Nikkor 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 VR PD-Zoom lens features built-in VR optical image stabilization technology. Furthermore, its “PD” designation makes it a Power Drive Zoom optic with support for electronic and quiet zoom controls, thus being very useful in video recording scenarios.
The new 10-30mm lens will offer a 35m equivalent of 27-81mm when mounted on Nikon CX-format mirrorless cameras. The maximum aperture will range between f/3.5 and f/5.6, depending on the selected focal length.
The 1 Nikkor VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-Zoom lens sports seven rounded diaphragm blades, nine elements in seven groups with one ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) element, and four aspherical elements.
Its minimum focusing distance stands at 20 centimeters or 7.87-inches. This is a compact lens with a 28mm / 1.1-inch length and 58mm / 2.28-inch diameter as well as a total weight of 85 grams / 0.19 lbs.
The Japanese company will begin selling this optic separately for $299.95 in the US as of April 2014.
