Samsung has introduced a new mirrorless camera, called NX2000, which offers plenty of features in a compact body.
Samsung has decided to extend its NX-series of cameras with the announcement of the NX2000. Although it is said to include the company’s Smart Camera technology, this is definitely not a smart camera as it is not running on a dedicated operating system such as Android.
Samsung NX2000 announced with 20.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor
The South Korean company claims that the NX2000 is built with sharing in mind, as all photographers want to share their artistic creations after taking them. Since all lensmen also want to take high-quality photos, the Samsung NX2000 features a 20.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor designed and manufactured by the Android smartphone maker.
The 20.3-megapixel sensor receives help from the DRIMe IV image processor. This combination allows photographers to capture high-quality images in low-lit environments with reduced noise and “superior color reproduction”.
The image processor is also helpful when taking shots in burst mode, as it can capture up to 8 frames per second. Additionally, its fastest shutter speed stands at 1/4000, while the ISO sensitivity ranges between 100 and 25,600.
Large touchscreen LCD will provide improved settings control
Samsung says that photographers will find it easy to control this camera, thanks to a 3.7-inch 1,152K-dot LCD touchscreen. The user interface is said to be very intuitive, as well as snapping the most important moments of your life, thanks to a scene selector.
The camera’s Smart mode provides access to 14 scene modes, which will be selected depending on your needs.
Yay for NFC and WiFi, nay for GPS
The Samsung NX2000 is also doing very good in the connectivity department, thanks to built-in WiFi and Near Field Communication (NFC) chipsets. However, there is no integrated GPS support.
Users can send their photos directly to iOS and Android devices with the help of the Smart Camera application. It features an Auto Share function, which instantly sends a photo to a mobile device after it was captured.
It is worth mentioning that the camera can record full HD videos at 30fps and that it offers USB 2.0 and HDMI ports.
All Samsung NX2000 buyers to receive a free copy of Adobe Lightroom 4
Samsung has also confirmed that Adobe Lightroom 4 will be included in the package, allowing photographers to make use of their professional editing skills. As one would image, the NX2000 mirrorless camera supports the RAW image file format.
An integrated flash is not available, but a hot shoe mount will give users the ability to attach an external one.
The mirrorless shooter weighs 8.04 ounces and it measures 4.69 x 2.56 x 1.42-inches.
Availability information
The South Korea-based company has extended the interchangeable lens availability to 12 optics. Photographers can choose between pancake, zoom, portrait, or macro lenses, as well as a 45mm 2D/3D optic, which can capture 3D stills and movies.
The Samsung NX2000 release date is currently unknown, but the camera is said to become available soon for a price of $649.99 in Black, Pink, and White colors, bundled with a 20-50mm lens.
