The best way to use Photoshop actions is to make good photos great.  I love editing images that start off with nice lighting and composition.  Renee Trichio (Twice as Nice Photography) took a Private Photoshop Actions Training with me a few weeks ago so she could learn to get the most from her purchases.  Remember when you purchase actions from MCP to watch the videos about each set.  Links are on individual product pages as well as under the FAQ section and Actions section of my site.

We worked on a few photos and I will share these in a few upcoming week’s Blueprints so you know step by step how to accomplish a specific look.

  1. Started by adding midtone contrast (similar to defogging) by using the Quickie Collection – Crackle Photoshop action
  2. Next I wanted to add some punch and contrast using this light color pop Photoshop action.  I used the Quickie Collection – Color Flair action
  3. I loved the colors in the background, the polka dots.  To bring out the color of the background and a little bit on the umbrella, I used Fingerpaint from the Quickie Collection, the selective color pop Photoshop action
  4. The photo was looking really good – to add some light and sharpness to the little girl’s eyes, I used the Eye Doctor, eye enhancing Photoshop action
  5. Renee wanted to see what her skin would look like if smoothed a bit.  It really did not need this so I ran Magic Skin – Powder Your Nose skin smoothing Photoshop action, and reduced the opacity to 38%
  6. At this point I noticed that that there was a color cast in her hair.  The reflection of the umbrella left pink in her hair, and the actions we had run made it even more noticeable.  So I used the Bag of Tricks.  The Reflected Color Cast Vanisher reduces or eliminates color casts on skin, hair, etc – It got rid of the of pink cast in her hair
  7. Lastly her skin was a little cool.  I ran the Bag of Tricks – Magic See Saw Color Correction Photoshop action to add yellows and reduce cyans.
