Canon was the official sponsor of both the London Fashion Week and London Fashion Weekend, and used the opportunity to “celebrate the power of image in fashion”.

Canon had signed an agreement to become the official sponsor of several fashion events taking place in London. The company teamed up with professional photographers, who told their stories about how it is like to be a fashion photographer.

Canon EOS M mirrorless camera was used by the company to promote its imagery products during the London Fashion Week 2013.

Canon celebrating the power of image in fashion

The London Fashion Week took place between February 15 and 19, while the London Fashion Weekend took place between February 21 and 24. The company used these opportunities to interview fashion designers, the main artists who make these events possible.

British designer Henry Holland said that he was very excited to work with Canon, which created the imagery for his designs this season. The new imaging technologies from the company were also praised by the designer.

Fashion photographer and film maker Clive Booth said that he believes Canon is raising the bar for all digital imaging companies, thanks to its high-quality standards of both stills and movies.

Additionally, Canon made interviews with fashion bloggers, including Andy Torres, who is in charge of the popular StyleScrapbook blog.

Other designers involved in the London Fashion Weekend were David Koma, Holly Fulton, and Michael van der Ham. All of them created their own “look books” and printed them with the help of Canon printers. The collections will be used at upcoming fashion weeks in Europe.

Canon chief pleased with the outcome

Canon’s Chief of Communication in Europe, Middle East, and Africa added that being an official sponsor puts a lot of pressure on the company because it needs to provide practical solutions to both photographers and designers.

However, James Leipnik said that this allowed the Japanese company to share its love for the “power of image” thanks to “powerful” photos taken with Canon equipment.

It was quite a good place to do that, as more than five thousand visitors took part at the events and the company’s products received a lot of exposure.
