Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR and two more lenses coming soon

Nikon will announce, within the next few days, three new lenses, whose details, photos, and prices have been leaked on the web.

A trio of lenses has been unveiled officially by Nikon in recent times. The digital imaging giant revealed the AF-S DX Nikkor 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR, AF-S Nikkor 500mm f/4E FL ED VR, and the AF-S Nikkor 600mm f/4E FL ED VR in early July, but there is more to come from the company this summer.

The rumor mill has leaked proof that Nikon will announce three new lenses within the following days, most likely by the end of next week. The upcoming optics are the AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED, AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR, and AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR, all which have been mentioned in gossip talks in the past.

Nikon to announce fast wide-angle prime lens soon

The first to be mentioned is the AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED, which is a wide-angle prime optic with a bright maximum aperture. It will come packed with Nano Crystal Coat to reduce reflections and will use ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) elements to correct some optical flaws.

It does not bear “E” designation, which means that it will not have an electromagnetic aperture like most of the company’s recent lenses. Additionally, it seems like its optical configuration does not include an aspherical lens element.

In Japan, it will be released on September 17 for a price of 90,000 yen or roughly $725. Its leaked photo reveals a distance scale and a manual focus ring.

This is one of the most sought-after lens by Nikon users: the 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR is very close to being launched.

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR lens is real and finally on its way

The second lens is the most expected of the bunch. Nikon will finally introduce a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens with built-in image stabilization. The AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR is real, but it does not look like it will employ a Phase Fresnel element, like rumors suggested.

The upcoming Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR lens will employ ED and aspherical elements as well as the aforementioned Vibration Reduction technology. It will become the perfect lens for multiple users as it will cover the needs for a broad range of applications thanks to its bright and constant maximum aperture throughout its zoom range.

The optic will have an electromagnetic diaphragm and will become available on August 27 in Japan for a price of 280,000 yen or $2,250.

Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR leaked
Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens will become an affordable super-telephoto zoom lens for sports and wildlife photographers.

Finally, the recent rumors about the 200-500mm lens are true and the product actually has a fixed maximum aperture. However, it is not as fast as initially thought, as it stands at f/5.6.

Either way, the AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR is real and it will be aimed at photographers looking for a super-telephoto zoom lens with integrated Vibration Reduction mechanism.

This lens will also have ED elements but it is unclear whether it comes with aspherical ones or not. It will be released on September 17 for 170,000 yen or $1,370.

As stated above, the official product launch event will take place within the next few days, so stay tuned to Camyx for the latest news!
