Adobe adds new features in Lightroom 5.2 software update

The first to come is the Adobe Lightroom 5.2 software update. It comes packed with several new features, bug fixes, and support for new cameras.

According to the company, users will be able to find a Smoothness adjustment tool right under Color Noise Reduction -> Detail panel. It can be used for cutting down some mottle artifacts.

The Spot Healing Tool has been enhanced with a novel Feather control and improved auto find source tool, which should perform better when heavily textured spots are in users’ photos.

The Auto Exposure option is now “more consistent” and the maximum size of a Smart Preview supports a long edge of up to 2,560 pixels.

The Local Adjustment Brush has also been tweaked, as right-clicking on the pin in Windows and control-clicking on Mac reveals a context menu for deleting or duplicating. Additionally, pin to duplicate works by pressing Control + Alt at the same time with dragging in Windows and Command + Option then dragging on Mac OS X.

Tethered Capture is now available for multiple cameras including the Canon 6D, 700D, 100D, and the Nikon D7100.

Adobe launches Camera RAW 8.2 and DNG Converter 8.2 software updates

Adobe Camera RAW 8.2 and DNG Converter 8.2 updates share identical changelogs. However, it is worth noting that the new features are only available with Photoshop CC, while the bug fixes, newly-supported cameras, and novel lens profiles are available in Photoshop CS6, too.

The latest features are an interactive histogram, rectangle mode in the white balance’s eye-dropper tool, presets in the saving dialog window, and the ability to move adjustment brushes by click-and-drag on the pins.

Furthermore, the latest Lightroom 5.2 features are available in the upgrades, as well. The list of newly-supported cameras is almost the same in Camera RAW 8.2 and DNG Converter 8.2, with the exception of Fujifilm X-A1.
