Photographer Sandro Miller has recreated iconic portrait photos with the help of actor John Malkovich as a tribute to the great photographers who have inspired him.

John Malkovich is a popular actor who has featured in more than 70 movies, including “In the Line of Fire”, “Empire of the Sun”, “Burn After Reading”, and “Places in the Heart”.

Sandro Miller is a popular photographer who has been in the industry for more than 30 years. He is commonly referred to as Sandro and he has worked for clients such as BMW, Nike, Microsoft, Honda, Coca-Cola, Nikon, and Adidas.

Sandro and John have worked together in the past, but they have started a new project recently, called “Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich: Homage to photographic masters”. It consists of a photo series with the actor as the subject of the recreated portraits initially captured by photographers who have inspired Sandro Miller.

John Malkovich and Sandro Miller met towards the end of the 1990s for the first time. Back in 2013, the photographer decided to commend his forerunners with a special project.

Sandro’s idea involved reproducing the iconic shots of A-list photographers and he selected 35 portraits that needed to be recreated. However, a willing subject was yet to be found, so Sandro thought about John Malkovich. Thankfully, the actor has said “yes” to this challenge.

Now, the “Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich: Homage to photographic masters” is official and it is one of the most brilliant artworks ever created.

The photographer has hailed John as an “unparalleled genius” who can immediately “morph into the character”. Miller added that he is “blessed to have him as a friend and collaborator”.

Sandro Miller has attempted to recreate even the tiniest details in the photos, so that they will be able to spark a feeling of doubt into the viewer’s mind. Words are not enough to express the quality of this project, which is a result of the pair’s brilliance.

The list of recreated photos include portraits of the “Migrant Mother” by Dorothea Lange, “Salvador Dali” by Philippe Halsman, “Alfred Hitchcock” by Albert Watson, “Pablo Picasso” by Irving Penn, “Albert Einstein” by Arthur Sasse, and “Che Guevara” by Alberto Korda.

A lot more photos and details about this amazing project can be found at the photographer’s website. Make sure to pay a visit!
