The rumor mill has revealed new details about the Canon 1D X Mark II DSLR, hinting that this is not the DSLR that will be announced by the company during the August 14 event.

Canon will allegedly hold a product launch event on August 14 this year or around this date. Sources have recently revealed that one DSLR and a couple of lenses will be introduced and that this will be a major announcement event.

The main suspect in the DSLR field is the Rebel SL1 / EOS 100D replacement, called Rebel SL2 / EOS 150D. However, the 1D X Mark II has received a notable mention, too, whereas the 6D Mark II and the 5D Mark IV are still far from being ready for the market.

New information has showed up online and it seems like the next EOS-series DSLR is the Rebel SL2 / EOS 150D, while the 1D X Mark II will come out at a later date.

More Canon 1D X Mark II info leaked on the web

The newly-leaked Canon 1D X Mark II info is not abundant and this would certainly be the case if it were for an introduction in the near future. For the time being, one thing is clear: the next-generation EOS flagship DSLR will not be revealed within a couple of months or so.

However, the new details are stating that the 1D X Mark II will come packed with a completely revamped autofocus technology. It will have more than 61 points and most of them will be crosstype, so it will be an upgrade over the current generation.

In order to handle all the extra autofocus points, the optical viewfinder will be significantly improved, too. Finally, the viewfinder will probably get a true red autofocus point in AI Servo mode, a feature which has been missed by some EOS users.

Next-gen EOS flagship DSLR to feature an OLED screen

The trusted source has re-iterated that the design of the 1D X Mark II will not suffer many design changes compared to its predecessor. Nevertheless, users will find additional custom buttons on their new DSLR.

The new generation is in the hands of a few select photographers and some units come packed with an OLED screen. Unfortunately, it is unclear whether the display on the back is based on OLED technology or the one on the top.

This Canon 1D X Mark II info is based on rumor and speculation, meaning that it has a long way before becoming true. In turn, this means that you have to take it with a pinch of salt for the time being.
