Nikon AF-S 20mm f/1.8G lens coming alongside the D750

Nikon is now rumored to announce an AF-S 20mm f/1.8G lens with Nano Crystal coating ahead of Photokina 2014 and more information about the D750 has also been leaked.

A special event will be held by Nikon on September 11 or 12. This is what a trusted source is reporting, so you should mark your calendars for next week.

In the meantime, a person who is working at a camera and lens store somewhere in Japan has posted an interesting tweet. According to Twitter user mdrokkor50f14, a Nikon AF-S 20mm f/1.8G lens will also be unveiled in the near future, while the D750 DSLR will feature a continuous shooting mode of up to 6.5fps.

Nikon is already offering a 20mm lens, but it is quite old and comes with an f/2.8 aperture. A newer and faster version is needed and could be announced soon.

Nikon AF-S 20mm f/1.8G lens set to be unveiled during D750’s product launch event

The launch of the D750 is almost a certainty. It should not be a surprise if Nikon decides to introduce a few lenses in the process, including some aimed at full frame cameras.

An employee of a Japanese camera store is claiming that a Nikkor AF-S 20mm f/1.8G optic will be revealed alongside D700’s sought-after “true” replacement.

The lens will sport Nano Crystal coating, which is quite common in Nikon optics. The coating reduces reflections in order to improve image quality.

It is very unlikely that the company will hold separate announcement events, so we can expect this lens to drop sometime towards the end of next week.

Nikon to put a 6.5fps burst mode into the D750 instead of an 8fps one

Twitter user mdrokkor50f14 has made some claims about the Nikon D750, too. It appears that the DSLR will feature a 6.5fps burst shot mode, which contradicts earlier gossip talks saying that the camera will capture up to 8fps in continuous shooting mode.

A burst mode of only 6.5fps might not help the company in marketing the D750 as an “action camera”, as initially reported. However, a confirmation is still needed, although the source is also saying that the autofocus system is identical to the one found in the D810, which is something that we have heard before.

We should not jump into conclusions, yet, so stay tuned for more information regarding this matter.

Nikon D610 rumored to be discontinued in the near future

Another bold claim made by the source refers to the D610. It appears that the camera will be discontinued soon. Nikon introduced the D610 during the fall of 2013 as a replacement for the D600, a DSLR troubled by many issues.
