Panasonic has announced a new 14-140mm zoom lens for its series of interchangeable lens cameras, which features built-in optical image stabilization technology and much more.

The rumor mill has been very focused on Panasonic over the past few weeks. The Japanese company has been rumored to introduce a pair of cameras in late April and it has duly delivered, courtesy of the Lumix G6 and Lumix LF1.

However, there is more to this day than just the two cameras, as the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH Power OIS lens has also made its first official appearance.

This new optic joins the family of Lumix G interchangeable lenses for digital cameras, which is compatible with Panasonic’s Micro Four Thirds shooters.

According to the camera maker, the lens will provide a 35mm equivalent between 28 and 280mm, allowing photographers to capture high-quality images across various scenarios.

The lens is powered by a stepping motor and an integrated focus drive, both being able to provide quiet and high-speed autofocus. This means that it should work better in combination with the Lumix GH3 and G6, a pair of cameras that supports very fast AF.

Panasonic’s latest version of the Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH Power OIS lens will become available on the market soon. Nevertheless, the exact release date continues to be a secret, just like its final price.
